Yes, downtown is literally all condos now.
essentially a bigger china town
Got a paid gig for filming at the event?
Yep. Not a grandiose amount mind you, but whatever, it's networking for the company I work for and it keeps me busy. I'll be the guy in the long hair with the crew shirt on if anyone's coming.
essentially a bigger china town
No, Markham is a bigger Chinatown.

So for anyone in Ottawa there's a big fucking hole on Rideau street. Thankfully I don't have to go that way to get home from work but I'm sure it's messing up the bus service pretty good.

Watch out Canada. ICBC has deemed me sane enough to get my Class 5 drivers license.
Huh, apparently Walmart Canada is going to stop accepting Visa because their fees are "Too high", starting with Thunder Bay. http://globalnews.ca/news/2755692/walmart-to-stop-accepting-visa-cards-in-canadian-stores/
Well that sucks as I only do the VISA.
Why is Ottawa so coooold?
It chilled down here in Toronto as well
It chilled down here in Toronto as well
It was 30 degrees last night at 9PM. 2AM it was 17.
Looks like Hamilton is gonna sweep the Tonys
I had a dream last night where I was hanging out with Justin Trudeau and he gave me his phone number.
Watch out Canada. ICBC has deemed me sane enough to get my Class 5 drivers license.
Meanwhile, I've had my G1 for almost 3 years now and just this past weekend, I actually got into a car with someone else and drove around a parking lot for an hour. Yes that was the first hour of actually driving the car. It was interesting and I learned a lot. I'll be driving around more, then hitting public streets and hopefully not crash into anything. I plan on getting my G2 either later this year, or next year, then getting my full G license before the 5 year period is up.
So I was in Vancouver for the Maker Faire and tried to go to my favourite Vancouver bar, the Balmoral Pub. There was a notice plastered on the door by the city saying the place was unsafe and the doors were locked. I asked the local bums and it seems back on the 8th the floor above the bar collapsed. Damn.
Anyone know of any really good jobs in the lower mainland?
Anyone know of any really good jobs in the lower mainland?
Nothing that pays more than minimum wage or is that amazing intern experience where you feel like you're living like a real tech but they pay you fuck all besides "useful learning experience time".
Nothing that pays more than minimum wage or is that amazing intern experience where you feel like you're living like a real tech but they pay you fuck all besides "useful learning experience time".
Well fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. Though with the intern if you play it right at least you can get up in a company.
As someone who has been struggling to find any sort of employment for the past two months, I sympathize with you, although I'm in southern Alberta so it's even worse. Hopefully I can get that job teaching English in Korea that I'm applying for because it's looking like there's nothing for me in this country. Speaking of going abroad, I just got my new passport today and damn these are actually pretty cool looking now with the pictures on the pages.
Anyone know of any really good jobs in the lower mainland?
What field? Im a welder and I do alright.
What field? Im a welder and I do alright.
Well I've been doing landscaping but I'm laid off now. So kinda open to anything as I need to make money to move out of the family house. As well as be able to afford to get my N. Which the not having an N is my biggest problem at the moment.
Are you teaching english as a foreign language with or without degrees relating to it?
Without. That's why I picked Korea, because it's the only country that's not super third world where the minimum requirement is having any sort of university degree.
Yeah. I'm planning to major in english and doing some work pertaining to teaching english abroad out of college. Getting a job as a teacher from what I know in my area is hard as fuck right now. Korea was my first idea of where to do it but lately I've also been thinking about China or how it might be to teach in areas outside of asian countries. Definitely seems like an interesting job
I've did some research before settling on Korea. China and Vietnam are almost as good as Korea and the requirements. The downside is the pay isn't as good, and you're more likely to feel alone and isolated the first couple months you're there because the foreigner communities in China and Vietnam aren't as large as in Korea. The worst option by far is Japan. Super competitive, pays about the same as the others but doesn't pay for your flight over and pay for your rent while you're there (which is required by law in Korea, most of the time they do it in China and Vietnam too so they can compete with Korea). But I have a friend from high school who's teaching English in Japan even though he went to school to be an electrician so I don't know how competitive it really is. Outside of Asia, your options get a lot more limited unless you have degrees and/or certificates directly related to teaching English as a foreign language, you have previous experience teaching English, you already live in the country where you want to teach, or you're ok with volunteering in some impoverished war zone. [editline]13th June 2016[/editline] I just have to go down to the police station some time soon so I can get my fingerprints scanned for an RCMP criminal record check and then I can apply once that comes in.

(probably dumb question) Almost all the jobs I've ever gotten were off there. There is always tons of landscaping, general labor, and even construction jobs. Past that there is lots of other stuff too - service, care, office, manufacturing. I've got a summer job polishing shit in a workshop for 13/hour fulltime.
Have you checked craigslist? (probably dumb question)
I have looked at craigslist, just got laid off yesterday so I'm just trying to brainstorm/see what possibilities are out there that I may not know about.
I've been out of a job for four months now. I'm down to my last $92. I'm gonna miss my car insurance payment in the next three weeks unless I go cash in the bottles and cans I have hidden away. I should of never left Wal-Mart. This job market is horrible.

I've been waiting for the government to pay me for EI. It's from lifting heavy springs from my job, that's how I got it. I went to Lions Gate hospital to get the surgery and it was done by Dr. Hunter, if anyone is looking for a very good surgeon. Hopefully I'll be back by August and they'll give me something easy to do.
So i put some Drano into my bathtub sink GLORIOUS WORKING DRAIN IT'S LIKE IT'S MAGIC
