I have no idea how pant sizes actually work. I just know that when I've gone to any clothing store in the last 3 years I look for the tag that says "34x34" and they usually fit. However that seems to only be true of cargos, my dresspants all seem a bit tight.

wtf lol, I was wearing 38 at 170 lbs because of my huge glutes and hamstrings, now I'm at 42 but I did gain some weight. If 34 is fat then I'm morbidly obese

My entire life I've been a twig. I've started to notice a visible gut, one visible enough for Angus to comment on when last I was at his place, and the aforementioned tightness.
Fat isn't the same for everyone. I'm 6' and about 190lbs now, and most of that is fat. My waistline has been between 32 and 34 for the last 8 years or so, and that's I think mostly indicative of my bone structure of my hips. The fact that 34 is now getting tight is about the fat content of my gut.
