Two of my companions and I are taking a road trip this coming Monday the 13th. We're starting here in Boston and driving to Toronto, then to Montreal, then back down home. That Tuesday we will be seeing Sunn O))) at the Queen Elizabeth Theater, and the next day we will be seeing them again at Society for Arts and Technology in Montreal. We've never been to either city, so I just wanna know what's the best things to see and the best places to eat? We've got about two full days in each city, so I really wanna try to "meet" the places as best as I can. What's your favorite spots in either city?

Also Quebecers consider speaking English in Quebec as a sign of provocation and will attack with blind rage. Definitely recommend learning Parisian-style French to avoid such issues. You can meet with Justin Trudeau between 2-4pm every day in Ottawa, he holds book signings and photoshoots for the public in the Houses of Parliament daily. Also only Members of Parliament and the CBC are allowed to roast weenies on the fire outside Parliament.
In Toronto go up the CN Tower. You'll get a view of the entire city from up there. It's a bit cold to wander the Islands or High Park, but you could go to the Hockey Hall of Fame, Casa Loma, the Ripley's Aquarium, the Toronto Zoo, the Art Gallery of Ontario, or the Royal Ontario Museum to name a few destinations. As for places to eat, if you're downtown there's plenty. Definitely try poutine from Smoke's Poutinery, but I also like the seafood from Buster's Sea Cove in the St. Lawrence Market. There's a ton of craft beer places around, notably Steam Whistle near Union Station and Mill St. In the Distillery District, though Mill St.'s not really craft anymore since Labatt bought them. There's also a craft sake brewery in the Distillery District, they have a tasting bar and do tours on weekends. As for other food, Toronto is the most multicultural city in the world, you can find any kind of cuisine you desire in this city.
What kind of food do you like? There's a big variety. I mean, if you really wanted to freeze for an hour, you could line up for one of those legendary Japanese cheesecakes. I still have no clue how it tastes.

pentium, please [t]https://puu.sh/uvfKX/28bb18a2a7.jpg[/t] no more

I also like to take urban street photography as a hobby so are there any cool spots that might take a little spelunking to get to? I want to explore the innards of the city [editline]5th March 2017[/editline] Also, how much do all those attractions cost, if anything? I'm trying to gauge how much cash I should bring with me

There are some back alleys with some cool graffiti, but since that's not my thing I don't know where they are. A couple hundred should be more than enough for a single day in Toronto. You'll likely only make it to one attraction plus the CN Tower in a single day, and beyond that then it's just the cost of food.
Thanks for all the advice fellas, I'll post more when I come back and tell you about my trip :v:
I was in Port Moody today, visted Parklife Brewery, Yellowdog Brewery, and Twin Sails Brewery. Some great beer in Port Moody. Also snow and hail.
I hope I'll be able to go to the Rockfest this year in MTL. My son/daughter is going to be born around that time.
Thanks for all the advice fellas, I'll post more when I come back and tell you about my trip :v:
Toronto also has a pretty night skyline that you may recognize from most movies set in New York (give or take a few buildings). I also recommend Johnny's Burgers, and go see Honest Ed's before they tear it all down. You won't be able to go in, since they closed it, but you can still go see it.
Its snowing here again. I'm getting a bit ticked off that the weather forecast is always right this year. Remember 2015-2016 where they couldn't tell a cloud from a piece of paper?

Guess what's gonna happen again. That fucking winter is long
"We're supposed to get a bit more of snow, and then I think that should be it for the year." - Me, every time it's snowed for the last month.
Hey guys, I popped into this thread about a month ago asking for tips about studying in Canada. A few days ago a Canadian family friend agreed to be a co-signer for any loans or credit I might need (although I am intending on using my savings as much as I can and working while studying) which means that I should have enough money to study reasonably comfortably. I've also been in contact with universities, particularly StFX and Acadia in Nova Scotia. It's super nice to see universities that actually keep in contact with you and give you guidance which I didn't get in Scotland - I'm not even applying until the tail end of this year and I've got more help than when I was applying to universities in Scotland. Super hyped.

I get it that we're not Ireland but why is St-Patrick's day so glossed over here? We get green tinted beer and that's pretty much it. There's no real event. Let's be fucking fancy about it, I don't know! Make a beer with actual shamrock in it, have a "toss the leprechaun" game or something. I'l probably be the only person that cares about that holiday again this year.
My apartment building has a "Happy St Patrick's day" decoration hanging on the front door. Also the bars in Toronto and area make events out of it but they also do that for anything that's remotely a holiday and sometimes even things that aren't
So I just went outside with my coat unzipped wearing a pair of slippers in -4 to move the car in front of the house because it's going to snow like fuck tomorrow.

So, we've finally had that snow storm hit Montreal. Biggest in a while. Literally everything is closed. I'm doing contract work but I can thankfully work from home today. I bring pictures from when the storm started yesterday. Keep in mind 8 hours prior there wasn't a lick of snow to be seen from anywhere. Montreal closed for that little snow? Disappointing.
That's nothing compare to Brossard.
Montreal closed for that little snow? Disappointing.
That was just the start. 30cm+ overnight and it's still going. How much are you guys getting from this over at your place? [editline]15th March 2017[/editline] Maybe I just don't go outside enough but I don't remember the last time we've had such heavy snowfall after the snow was just about done completely melting. [editline]15th March 2017[/editline] What made it worse was the 40kmph winds that would completely blind you on foot.
15-20 cm of snow here in Chicoutimi. Thankfully we don't have the 50 KM/H gusts of wind the Lac St-Jean has
Toronto only got like 5 of the 30cm they said we would get. I still remember a snowstorm once where they closed my university, but the TTC was still running and everything was still open. We got a good 30cm that day.
Over on the best coast I'm wearing shorts. Its spring here.
