MMMM OOOHH YEEAAAHH. I LOVE POLITICS!
I mean I voted for the Ballot Box Bandit this cycle
I can only hope it's never the NDP.
Warning! Warning! High Levels of Ontario Detected!
As a leftist voter I would never vote for the BC Liberals. They've directly fucked up the industry I work in as well as constantly threatening to allow LNG tankers to sail past my home.
That being said I live in the Mo' Money West Van electoral district so good luck to my chosen candidate. You don't stand a chance.
The conservatives don't stand a chance in hell.
The NDP could win if people can stand them for a few years.
The liberals have a thing for springing back out of nowhere. We wanted them gone last time, yet somehow managed to vote them back with MORE seats.
Pretty sure Harper ruined the conservatives' reputation for at least the next election or two.
Pretty sure Harper ruined the conservatives' reputation for at least the next election or two.
Have you seen the polls? The Conservatives current lead the Liberals despite not having a leader.
Honestly Harper was nowhere near as unpopular as some of you people seem to think he was, and he certainly didn't destroy the party or their reputation, he wasn't Mulroney.
Trudeau has done a lot to hurt his party's reputation and make people realize that maybe, just maybe, electing someone simply because they're pretty and famous wasn't the best idea. He backed down from electoral reform, his recent budget was apparently a disaster, and M-103 was an incredibly unpopular and divisive motion. Frankly, I expect him to renege on pot come the spring and that'll just destroy him, because really that's all he's got left keeping him popular.
At this rate, the Liberals are losing the next election. I don't expect the Conservatives to get a majority, but I expect the Liberals to lose.

Case in point, already delayed from the "promised" April first reading.

Where are you getting that lead from? 308 shows the Conservatives behind in every poll and loosing support.
I'm sure that broken Liberal promises will piss people off, but the C's had 8 years to ruin any centralist/switch support, as I'm pretty sure Canadians will prefer nothing getting done over terrible stuff getting done. If the NDP manges to actually pull people next election we might see a Liberal minority with NDP as the second party.

Forum Research has the Conservatives at 38% and rising, Liberals at 36% and falling.
And the NDP is done. They literally had one good election because of a provincial protest vote in Quebec, where they sit now is where they historically have always sat. The next election we'll likely be seeing a minority, and with the way things are going now it'll be a Conservative one, because like I said, despite how many people on here seem to think that Harper was some horrid person and the Conservatives were some far-right nutters, they actually weren't, and they also weren't as unpopular as you seem to think they were. Just because you sit decidedly on the left doesn't mean that the Conservatives ruined the country, nor does it mean they ruined their support.
And when the leadership hopefuls in the NDP are doing laughable shit like this, the outlook for the future of their party isn't good. I mean, until Ashton did this nobody was even reporting on the NDP leadership race, because there's only like what, 3 people running? And it seems like Charlie Angus is going to win, but given that he has no historical connection to Quebec like Layton did, the chance of him leading another protest vote there are nil. As a matter of fact, if Bernier wins Conservative leadership, I expect them to make gains in rural Quebec next election.
Just got my tax return, 100 whole dolla bills, don't get me wrong, I'm happy to actually get tax returns instead of having to pay some but jesus.
I make barely above minimum wage, I am thankful every single day that I don't have to live on my own yet or I legit feel I would be starving and maybe homeless.
Serious question, how is anyone expected to live on minimum wage or barely above it?
I'm not sure what I fucked up on my taxes.
Apparently I'm getting $2500 back.
All this talk of taxes reminded me that I still needed to print my tuition statement from last year. I'm only getting like $200 back, and I have to pay like $60 to get my taxes done.
Didn't people vote liberals to get Harper out of office???
Yes, Harper was unpopular, but he wasn't universally abhorred, nor was he necessarily a terrible prime minister, though that debate is one left for the history books, and he certainly didn't ruin the country. He served as PM for 9 years, which is a long time, and people were tired of him and wanted him gone, as happens with most politicians after such a long stint in office. The Liberals also had a "star" candidate because he was pretty and his dad was Prime Minister which raised their chances of winning. Now people are starting to realize Trudeau isn't his father and never will be (which frankly is a good thing because I hate his father), so the popularity of him and his party is falling.

I lived through the summer on 40hr a week at around 10.95 and I was living comfortably. I guess it's all a matter of where you are
Yesterday was so rainy the water resevoir overflowed and washed out the road.
Thoughts on Winnipeg?
I'm thinking of applying to University of Manitoba as a back-up in case I don't get into StFX or Acadia in Nova Scotia (although I think I'll be ok with those)
It felt like summer in Toronto today, holy cow.

I have survived stab city UK (Glasgow) so I am a seasoned veteran
I don't think it would be the stab wound that would kill you in Winnipeg, more the fact that you'd have a hole in your clothing during a Winnipeg winter.
