My other choice was Edmonton and I just found out that it's nickname is 'Deadmonton'
You could come to Toronto if you've got $1300/month to spare on a bachelor apartment.
You could come to Toronto if you've got $1300/month to spare on a bachelor apartment.
Not only that but the fees for international students would kill me in Toronto. Still, it's funny how Canadian universities are on the whole about the same price or cheaper for international students as they are for UK domestic (although I'm Scottish and wouldn't pay to study in Scotland. but still)

I went up to Powassan to go shooting yesterday. It was a 3 hour drive from Toronto. Whenever I passed a sign for a township I kinda laughed at how small they all were. Like 1200-1500 people. Some didn't even list populations.
I've compared Winnipeg to Glasgow and the violent crime rate is actually much less than Glasgow, so I think I'll live. Would have to get used to the cold, though.
We're getting snow here this weekend, only 10cm but fuck man
Hey guys, I'm studying a year abroad in Vancouver starting from this august and I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on what it's like there? I've had a search around but to be honest im struggling to find useful bits of infomation like transit and accomodation so any insight would be extremely helpful thanks.
It was snowing a few hours ago in Toronto and I was like.. WHAT THE FUCK SPRING.
I've had a search around but to be honest im struggling to find useful bits of infomation like transit and accomodation so any insight would be extremely helpful thanks.
Vancouver transit is perhaps some of the best in the region. Bus routes from anywhere to everywhere with rail on the arterial routes. We just phased out tickets for the Compass tap system. You can either preload your card or link it to auto withdraw from another source of funds. As for accomodation......well unless you are chinese you are financially ineligible to rent an apartment on your own, so your options are either to split rent and have roommates, or get a "room" at one of the subsidized housing centers. I hear the Balmoral Hotel offers rooms for $450/month if you qualify for welfare and have not been convicted in six months.
I am still surprised that the Chinese are allowed to do that kinda stuff. I mean I know you can rent to whoever you want but I am pretty sure there would be legal issues if they tried that in the UK
its the tite poosay
There's a clause in the provincial landlord agreement that states that landlords can bypass preset limits on how much they can jack the rent if the average rate for buildings in the surrounding neighborhood is unequal to them. Hence how a West End landlord was able to get away with a 43% rent hike. [citation] We can't afford it, then again it's not Canadians they are marketing towards.

Girlfriend wants to move to Toronto from Ireland. I will probably go too. Any advice? How much money you need to actually go? Is it hard finding accommodation, and is it expensive? In Dublin compared to what you make, living in a nice place with a short commute is nearly impossible. I'm an Android Developer, would I have a hard time finding work do you think? Is poutine as good as they say.
Looks like there is quite a few people with plans to head to Canada.
Looks like there is quite a few people with plans to head to Canada.
I can't really blame 'em what with all the crap going on in the world now
I'll probably be moving to Canada soon when Quebec gets its independence according to all the bitter elders still living in '92
I'll probably be moving to Canada soon when Quebec gets its independence according to all the bitter elders still living in '92
Quebec leaving would be very hard since they keep voting not to.
I'll probably be moving to Canada soon when Quebec gets its independence according to all the bitter elders still living in '92
Even when I used to be a separatist I've never had illusions concerning the independence of Québec. Nowadays I don't care that much about politics anymore (for my own mental well-being) but I know it's not gonna happen regardless.
