Holy fuck Quebec, all this corruption. This is the second mayor of Montreal to be arrested for it.

I feel as if the (BC) government is reinforcing the stereotype that we say "I'm sorry" too much. Not that I'm complaining about it.
It's midnight and still 27 degrees in Toronto. So glad I have central A/C.
Welcome back summer, I missed you these last few weeks.
Was at a rocket competition in the past few days in Green River, UT. There were 5 Canadian teams, UofT, Uwaterloo, ETS Montreal, Ecole Polytechique Montreal, and RyersonU...
Took some pictures of the competition:
This one worked well I believe:

This one's parachute didn't deploy I believe, aka "went ballistic".

Almost perfect, but the wind blew the rocket+parachute a few miles away, never found again.

Hello, people from the far lands of Canada
I made a thread about going to college in America- but turns out the US would be too expensive. Some people suggested Canada, and I was thinking it might be a good idea, but it depends on the price.
So, could you guys tell me about college in Canada? How much would it cost on average? Would it be hard for an international student to get in one, and would it cost a lot more? Also, what about the cost of living there? And one last question, what colleges would be good for someone like me? I'm probably gonna be doing Marketing, but maybe Graphic Design.
For an immigrant, university here, at least in Ontario, is about $24,000/year, because they don't subsidize immigrant students. For just plain college I have no idea what it costs, but it'll probably be over $10,000.
Here's a list of some Universities,

Canada is a big place, those things vary a lot from province to province. Probably the main consistent thing is that it cost a lot more to be an international student (most anywhere not just canada) than to be a resident.
If your looking in to graphic design there are a couple colleges in my area I moved here from a few cities over to attend, The Center of Art and Technology (In Fredericton NB) or the New Brunswick Craft and Design college.
You'll find most good places if you decide to do graphic design want a portfolio which can be hard if you havent had a lot of pre-learning. I recommend the Craft college it is where I am going and it will give you a stronger art base which never hurts.
Alternately there is UNBSJ and UNBF (Unversity of New Brunswick Saint John/Fredericton) the Fredericton campus is better. There are a lot of immigrant students that come here to study, one of my friends is studying business here.
Cost of living in NB is fairly low compared to rest of Canada, and I can definitely recommend it as a friendly and welcoming place

[sp]Day 6; the locals don't realize that I'm really only from Northern Michigan.[/sp]
Really though in all seriousness, what are jobs looking like for you Canadians? I'm looking to get a degree in Elementary Education, but I hear that the market for teachers is somewhat saturated at the moment here in Michigan. I'd move to a different state, but that would probably push me too far away for me to visit my family, unless I take a plane or something. Also, I'd really miss the nature of the great forests of Michigan, which I've spent much of my life roaming around in on cool summer days.

If you get in as a teacher (the market's a bit saturated here too) then they basically can't fire you because union. A lot of people are still taking low-wage jobs they're overqualified for because of the recession we've not yet fully recovered from. There's plenty of low-pay retail jobs, and I think the RCMP is hiring almost anyone due to under-staffing (but you'll end up out east or west, still far away from family), but other than that the market is very competitive right now, which means experience and qualifications, or a good network, are a must. Getting a job as an immigrant is a bit hard too; to be imported for a job, that job cannot be reasonably filled by a Canadian instead, and your potential employer must justify why it cannot be filled by a Canadian instead (which rules out teaching).

I see. I suppose that makes sense, seeing as the Canadian government would rather have all of their citizens working over immigrants taking their limited job opportunities. I suppose I'll just have to find work somewhere in Michigan than, hopefully I'll have some luck due to my previous experience with working with the BSA (Boy Scouts of America). Thanks for the info.

I used to think that anything over 30 degrees is really fucking hot.
If I told that to an american, they would know I'm Canadian.

Whenever I talk to my American friends and I mention "Aw yeah, it's 25 degrees," or something, for a minute they go "That's cold as shit," and then they're like "Oh right, Canadian. What's that in Fahrenheit?"
Its too hot in Vancouver.

I mean if I told them whatever 30 Celsius is in Fahrenheit, I would say that's hot.
And when I was very young I thought Americans were superhumans for living in past boiling point temperatures.

I keep doing that too, I hear "It's 94 out" and for a minute I'm like "What the shit?" Then I remember, Oh right, nonsensical temperature system.
I also can't convert on the fly, I know 90+ is hot as hell, and 30- is cold as shit, but anything in between I'm totally lost as to where it lies relatively.
-40 is the same in both systems. I figured that out when I was complaining to an american friend how fucking cold it was one day.

Oh dear...
If it is the North Van Credit Union in the Park Royal Village, that is the second time in <5 years that its been robbed. Although from that picture it might be the BMO.
Barricaded himself in a bank... Usually that's not how a robbery is supposed go.
Happy Canada day!

Well I'm not going outside...
Why is it so hot? 20°C that I'm not used to.
