So, let's get political here for a second, what're you guys' opinions on the Senate? Mulcair wants it abolished, personally I'd like to see it reformed into a democratic body so it isn't a dumping ground for party loyalists to garner huge salaries for fucking nothing. What about you lot? Abolish, reform, or leave the Senate as is?
Democratic reform, and replace the Governor General with an elected head of state, and abolish ties with the monarchy.
I asked something like this previous with lukewarm response, although not surprising since it was Calgary, but did any one else go to Toronto's Fan Expo over the weekend? My favourite moment was a guy with a Guitar Hero controller jumping in front of Alice Cooper's autograph booth and singing the Wayne's World theme to him.
Anyone in Toronto want to meet up in the next few days?
Been really hot for the past few days now.
The annual end-of-summer lightning storm just happened in Vancouver. It was great. A neighbour's house got hit.
Oh, how bad? Were the neighbours okay?
I hope they had surge protectors
What about you lot? Abolish, reform, or leave the Senate as is?
Abolish it. It really doesn't serve much of a purpose in its current state and I don't see any reason to reform it since we already have the House of Commons and our elected MP's , why do we need another body of highly payed representatives?
What about reforming the senate into a Proportional representation elected body to reduce the effect of poor representation? (Eg, although the conservatives have a majority in the House of Commons, they received less than 50% of the popular vote)

I think making politics simpler will help reduce political apathy.

I have decided that Second Cup makes the worst coffee. McDonald's makes better and theirs is pretty bad.
I have decided that Second Cup makes the worst coffee. McDonald's makes better and theirs is pretty bad.
McDonalds is pretty watery. Second Cup what's in my building at uni, try a different blend, I switched and it was like night and day.
Only one brand of coffee at your uni? Pffft, mine has a different brand per building. I'm totally not furthering the stereotype that Vancouverites are coffeecrazy... Also I'm sitting on a bus next to a woman with the most atrocious BO right now and I know shes reading my screen so consider yourself told madam.

And that's only on this half of the halifax campus.
