Toronto's awesome, man. What are you on about?
Then again, I've lived in rural Nova Scotia my whole life, I guess any city is "awesome" to me.
Toronto (except Scarborough) is awesome, it's just our politicians are all pants-on-head retarded and waste time arguing about asinine shit, and people keep suing them because they don't like it when democracy doesn't agree with their opinions, so they waste time and money doing nothing and fucking us over.
Welcome to modern western democracy.
ONLY IN CANADA
Your monthly cellphone bill is $40 but your monthly satellite phone bill is $30.
$40?! You have it cheap...
What the hell they have a $160 15GB plan.
I pay 65/mo (tax included) for 2GB data, and unlimited calling and texting.
I pay 15$ a month
[sp]I only get unlimited texting[/sp]
I got the new bell loyalty plan, 55$/mt for Unlimited CAN-US calls, Unlimited CAN-US texts/pict/vids, caller ID, voice mail, 3GB of data.
Finally for once I got something decent, god, prices are horrible.
Wind Mobile is the shit.
Unlimited everything (and there's no strings) for $40 a month.
Wind Mobile is shit.
Whats everybody think about American providers trying to get into Canada?
Wind Mobile is the shit.

It's too good to be true. A friend of mine is on Wind, he can't get service in the Toronto financial district. The skyscrapers actually block his signal, he gets it in street intersections only when downtown. He also can't get signal in Niagara or in basements. The service is also really inconsistent. It sounds good, but there's a reason they're looking for a buyer, they're too shitty to retain people.
Whats everybody think about American providers trying to get into Canada?
I'm a patriot, and love supporting Canadian business, but when that business is being a monopolistic asshole you need to knock them down a couple notches and give them a swift kick in their greedy, manipulative ass. Bell, Telus, and Rogers can all suck the CRTC commissioner's dick for all I care, they're all sacks of evil shit and I hate them. Bell and Rogers have gotten better on the internet side of things, mostly since Teksavvy and other independents were whipping their ass with unlimited internet plans, but for cell phones we're still getting assraped by Robelus' shit. I think we should just plainly deregulate the market, because right now it's actually illegal for foreign companies to try and compete with Canadian telecom. I think that regulation should be removed, open us up to the world, and if Robelus wants to stick around they'll have to get their asses in gear and stop fucking Canadians over for a change or they'll go under to foreign competition, and TBH if they did go under I would probably celebrate.
It's officially midterm season... :(

I had my first one 2 weeks ago already, next one Wednesday, and then 3 in the second-last week of the month.
Luckily I have a 45/mo plan for my phone right now with 1gb of data and enough minutes to last. But if I want to upgrade my plan, here are my choices (posted this already in SH)

Happy late Thanksgiving then everybody

Saw that on campus today. Mmmmm.
Trivia: How/Why do I have this coupon thing:

(Notice I have a laptop. I do not have a desktop anywhere close to here)
All that we get at Dal is kids in their matte black Audi SUV's and souped up (and often matte black) mercs and bmws.
I know for a fact all those cars nearly cost as much as a Ferrari.
Can I just have one Ferrari.
Please.

Lets just look down on Australians. Everything tries to kill them and their prices are higher.

This is why I bought my Nexus 4 off contract. They didn't even charge me an activation fee for a new SIM card when I went to get one. I'm going to keep my contract to the bitter end and beyond.
agree or disagree I thought this hit the nail on the head pretty good.
The only one that comes even remotely close to me is the green party.
They hate guns, but they want electoral reform, drug decriminalization and the elimination of the bank of Canada as a private entity and the reinstatement of debt-free currency issuance.
All the other political parties I've looked at are so hilariously out of touch with reality (and even the greens share a fair bit of that) that you might as well label them bought and paid for. The Liberals, the NDP (now that Jack Layton is dead, at least) and the Conservatives don't actually HAVE a campaign platform. It's all feel-good platitudes, I mean, look at this bullshit:
Liberals:
>strong economy
>affordable education
>cleaner environment
>sustainable healthcare
>"democratic reform" (I'd have left this alone, but put this in quotes because they say they "are committed to exploring Parliamentary and Electoral reform " exploring it doesn't fucking fix it, what the fuck kind of platform is this, the "We'll look at it but do nothing" platform?
>"smart" on crime and marijuana
Oh yeah, I'm sure the conservatives or the Bloc or the NDP are all deviously planning less affordable education, a weaker economy and a dirtier environment with unsustainable healthcare.
Fucking please. These aren't issues; we should be EXPECTING these things. Not campaigning on them!
How about some REAL issues:
- Sovereign independence
- Energy independence
- Elimination of Corruption
- Immigration Reform
- REAL Electoral Reform
- Economic Reform
- Tax Reform
Our government is operating like it's still the 1800's. Why do we still rely on a private bank, why are we not adopting digital currencies, why have we not weaned ourselves off oil, why are we still relying so much on the united states for everything, why do so many of our governors, mp's and senators get kickbacks from multinational corporations, why do we not have range voting, why don't we have a better tax system?
That's a pretty BS argument,
1. "debt-free currency issuance" has never really been implemented in the modern world, and it's unfeasible given the global economic climate.
2. They never actually take a look at the different platforms, and draw difference to them, basically saying "PAH THEY ARE THE SAME LOOK AT ALL OUR HORRIBLE POLITICS". It's bullshit.
3. "Sovereign independence" : YEAH LETS BUILD SOME ICE BREAKERS AND CIRCLE JERK WITH HARPER ABOUT OUR ARTIC SOVEREIGNTY! THOSE FILTHY COMMIES ARE COMING TO GET US, BETTER BUILD A STEALTH SNOWMOBILE!!!!!!
4. " Energy independence" : How will we get rid of foreign oil when OPEC basically sets the prices. Oil sands oil is expensive and horrible damaging to the environment and that's not changing anytime soon. We export more electricity than we import. All I can say to Canadians is take more transit, buy Teslas.
5. "Elimination of Corruption" : Hey, at least the Liberals are doing something to fix this, if the author has problems, he should talk to his mp.
6. "Immigration Reform" : Yeah actually this needs to be done, I want more immigrants right now.
7. " REAL Electoral Reform" : There are not many political systems that fit Canada's needs. Even if we want our vote to be proportional, it's still not going to give ridings to geographic places, and if MPs are assigned to the places they will be out of touch with their areas. I know my MP and MLA, and I'm really happy about that.
8. "Economic Reform & Tax Reform" : These have to be one of the shittiest arguments of all. EVERY party does this after every election. They raise taxes. They lower taxes. They make "economic action plans".
Not to mention a lot of the criticisms of the liberal party are flat out wrong, you can go figure these things out with a quick google search, where the author claims them to be incredibly vague.

We rely on a private bank because it is one of the most solid and well run private government banks in the world. We haven't adopted digital currencies because the digital forms of the physical do just fine. We haven't weaned ourselves off oil because not everyone has the money to go out and buy a Tesla or a Nissan Leaf as of yet, not to mention how much we still love steel and plastics! We rely on the US for so much? Of course! They are our biggest trade partner, and also have low minimum wages to keep the cost of their products down. Kickbacks? Talk to your MP. Express displeasure. They are people, believe it or not. We don't have range voting because of what's known as the "Nursery Effect". And lastly, a better tax system? The author should come up with this "better system", this is incredibly vague, basically this boils down to "this sucks make it better!!"
This argument is garbage, and is a pretty poor reason to vote green.

I don't agree with voting green, don't agree with them on various issues. Also for #5 that sure isn't the case in Ontario heh.

oh yeah #5, ontario liberals are pretty shit. NS liberals are pretty rad, love my MLA.
#5 isn't the case provincially in Ontario or Quebec nor is it the case federally, in ON and QC the Liberals have been facilitating and/or covering up corruption for years, and federally the Liberals really aren't doing jack all to combat corruption, especially considering one of theirs was involved with some of the biggest debts in the senate scandal. As for the rest I'm too tired and inebriated to discuss, or even read, them.
It's kinda sad in a way. Green Party could be the greatest thing ever and people would still not pay attention to it.
Anyway, I'm happy with my Liberal majority government here in Nova Scotia. NDP fucked us in the ass the whole time they were in power, and to have their political tagline be "let's finish what we started"? Kind of a bold move, don't you think?
Your riding has the leader, that's actually pretty cool.
NDP was pretty lame, one of their election promises was they were not going to raise sales tax, proceed to do it.
[editline]17th October 2013[/editline]
Not to mention keeping the NSP monopoly. The Liberals actually had the most green and best plan to get rid of NSP.
NDP: Pay money to Labrador and put down underseas cable to buy from the Lower Churchill dam, so we don't lose "Nova Scotian Jobs".
PCs: Cap power rates for 5 years.
Liberals: Break the monopoly, allow any electricity provider that generates renewable energy sell in the province.
Our power rates are insane. My family was looking at buying a plug-in hybrid to save some money, but electricity costs more than gas here. The Liberals offered the only solid plan to reduce power rates, and prevent us from getting fucked over in the future.
Power costs keep going up in Ontario too, people are angry, but used to it by now. We're used to getting fucked for every dollar we have.
Power costs keep going up in Ontario too, people are angry, but used to it by now. We're used to getting fucked for every dollar we have.
Power costs going up yet we got that nice giant half built empty plant just hanging out :v:
Power costs going up yet we got that nice giant half built empty plant just hanging out :v:
And a pair of $1.1 billion holes in the ground because Oakville and wherever-the-fuck-else totally don't need power generated nearby to keep distribution and infrastructure costs down as demand for more power in those areas increases.

And of course, let's deny licenses to 2 applications for new nuclear stations, because the word nuclear is scary.
