Hi Angus!

I am on acid right now. Two tabs. So... a regular dose, methinks. Ask me anything! I don't know why I'm in the Canada thread. Maybe it seemed appropriate. I'm not sure. Someone next to me is watching 2001: A Space Odessy. We're talking about Paraphors and the height of postmodern society.
It's kinda sad in a way. Green Party could be the greatest thing ever and people would still not pay attention to it.
Man if we actually went by popular vote on a provincial and federal level.
So anyone in Toronto want to do something next weekend? I have the whole weekend off work.
Next weekend is hell for me.
On a side note, updated my beer inventory:

I approve of the Sapporo. Don't approve of the others though.
Personally I like Heineken.
Corona's okay, I've heard Sapporo's bad though. Haven't heard anything on the others though.
Alexander Keith's is the only beer I need. I'm more partial to wine coolers and vodka anyway
I don't like Corona at all. And I only drink Heineken on tap, non-draught Heineken isn't nice.
Not a big fan of Carlsberg or Alexander Keith's either.
Nelson (their stout!), Howe Sound, Driftwood and Philips are the best breweries.
Also if you're in North Vancouver, two new breweries just started up pretty much across the street from each other: Deep Cove and Bridge. Both have good stuff.

So PC Honey Red is still awesome beer, sold at the legal minimum price in Ontario, and everyone should try it.
Does not exist in Atlantic Canada!

Look for stuff made by Big Rock, they're the brewery that makes all of PC beer.

So it's Remembrance Day, Lest We Forget or whatever
So much god damn snow and i have to shovel it...
So it's Remembrance Day, Lest We Forget or whatever
There's no "whatever" about it. This day is to honour some of the bravest people on this planet, people who are and were willing to and did lay their lives down to defend this world from imperialism, oppression, and hatred. It's about the brave men and women who went out, and are still going, to defend freedom, to stand up for a cause they believe in, to protect their country and the freedom of others abroad. Whether or not you agree with war, be they past or present, the people out fighting them believe they are doing this country, and indeed this planet a service, and they're willing to lay their lives down to protect the lives and freedoms of people they've never even met. Remembrance Day isn't something that's casually dismissed with a "whatever," it's a day to honour those brave people who fought for us, and for our planet, and to reflect on the effects of war on the planet and on our country.
Far too often the apathy towards the words "lest we forget" leads to veterans who need help being cast aside into the shadows of homelessness and mental illness. There are vets from WWII struggling to find finances to keep themselves in a retirement home, getting the care they need to continue on their lives, and war-scarred veterans from the Gulf, Bosnia, Somalia, and even Afghanistan who are on the streets, suffering from PTSD and unable to get themselves the help they need for their mental illnesses and the support they need to get back on their feet. Far too often "Lest we forget" is merely a colloquialism people repeat on Remembrance Day, they think it's about the war, not the people who fought it, and that leads to Veterans with shitty, or nonexistent, pensions and inadequate healthcare struggling to get by, to deal with the ghosts of their comrades who haunt them, to help them find a job in the civilian life after they're through with their service. Far too often we do forget, and those who would have died for us, without ever knowing who we are, suffer for it.
The Tim Horton's Bacon Bagel BELT is a national treasure.
Their jalapeno biscuit breakfast sandwich is pretty good too.

I hate how they always bring up ww1 and the Boer war during these events.
I hate how they always bring up ww1 and the Boer war during these events.
You hate how they bring legitimate shows of imperialism when talking about fighting imperialism?
Veterans are veterans and they all had their own reasons for fighting, but that doesn't mean that something can go by free of criticism because Canadians died while doing it.
I hate how they always bring up ww1 and the Boer war during these events.
WWI is literally the reason we have Remembrance Day, it was started in the '20s to commemorate those lost during what was then the worst war the world had ever known. The poppy comes from a poem written by a Canadian at a battle in Flanders, Belgium in WWI. People seem to forget that this day was to commemorate people lost in that war, and has evolved since.
