I've started leaning more towards geophysics. I'll learn about physics but still be able to get a job afterward.
I'd recommend you also get as many math courses under your belt as well. I don't know how you feel about not strictly doing physics experiments, but have you considered looking at working for a scientific journal?

Plenty of physics and math, and with job prospects afterwards.
I just flipped over to CBC to hear Peter Mansbridge say "federal election 20 months from now". Huh? [editline]28th January 2014[/editline] Oh, ok.

Are these kind of threads hidden in the General Discussion area? I see them in the newest post box but they're not actually in General Discussion. What is this witch craft. [editline]29th January 2014[/editline] Also I wish my Canadian Flag would show up.
General Discussion is still broken and the posts don't get sorted properly on the main page. Click "Last post by" twice to fix it.
I just sort alphabetically, one less click.
I just Subscribe to the thread and never step foot in GD
I can't see myself getting through an engineering course but I'll look into it
Calculus is the biggest bitch, I failed Calc 1 and had to take 1st year in 2. I'm currently trying not to need to take 2nd in 2 as well...
Requirements for me: Calc 1 (retaking it right now), Calc 2, Calc 3, Linear Algebra, Differential equations, Calc 4. fun.
I have calc 1, calc 2, linear algebra (all year 1), vector calc & differentials (passed up to this point), discrete math (theory in its purest form, taking it now), and statistics & probability (next year) as all the math courses I'm required to take. Half my math courses were in year 1.
Man, Nova Scotia Power is such a great company, their hardworking and compassionate employees always know best (pls stop turning off my power I promise I'll pay next week)

Calc 1, 2, 3, Advanced Engineering math (Differential equations and complex analysis), Signals and Systems (Fourier series/transforms), Probability & stats, linear algebra, and Electromagnetics (Vector Calc applications)

I can't find anything on the university's site other than buzzwords about how it "bridges pure and applied science". I got the basic idea of it but what's the job market like
I don't know if that's an actual discipline, but my physics courses have been shit about waves and forces, and a whole physics course about semiconductors.
It's a program offered at the University of Saskatchewan, wikipedia says it's also sometimes called "technical physics":
Engineering science/physics is meant to provide a more thorough grounding in applied physics for a selected specialty such as optics, quantum physics, materials science, applied mechanics, nanotechnology, microfabrication, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biophysics, control theory, aerodynamics, energy, solid-state physics, etc.
It just sounds like physics to me

NSP needs to be owned by the government, or other competitors need to be allowed to compete, the monopoly sucks. [editline]1st February 2014[/editline] I'm in dat CS, but I'm certainly not free from Math. Calc 1, Calc 2, Discrete Math, Linear Algebra, Stats, Digital Media (FOURIER TRANSFORMS, THE CLASS!)
Power went out at my work because of the snowstorm we're having: Apocalyptic eh
are there any canadians in here either with a physics degree, or pursuing one? I'm considering either physics at the university of saskatchewan or astrophysics in calgary since I'm slowly realizing that I really love physics but I'm just wondering what the job prospects are like for a physics/astrophysics grad in this country I've heard in the US it's pretty dire but I'm not sure
Don't know if it's too late to reply to this, but you may also want to look into the National Research Council for prospective employment. Probably means moving to Ottawa though.
Anybody else planning on going to the Toronto Sportsmen's Show on Friday? I'm planning on heading down after class.
Got the 24-hour flu on Wednesday, all symptoms but the terrible dry hacking cough have gone. Cough syrup does nothing! [editline]b[/editline] Coincidentally tomorrow (Feb 8th) is my 23rd birthday.
Well, happy birthday then.
Guys lets talk about the Olympics or something
You mean like how we're tied for top gold and second overall? Those damn Norwegians... We'll show them who's boss!
Guys lets talk about the Olympics or something
Our Women's curling team far more attractive than Sweden's Women's curling team.
So I just found out today that up until 2008 the age of consent was only 14! They raised it to 16 then, but I mean holy shit, only 14 until 2008, I never knew it was so low.

I -think- there was a clause that made it so that anyone 14-18 was fine.
Fucking Finland
