That's $300k? I'm assuming that's for buying? I'm talking about renting though
That's $300k? I'm assuming that's for buying? I'm talking about renting though
Yeah, to buy. To rent it'd probably be $1500-$2000 for that condo downtown. Toronto is expensive, especially downtown. A somewhat ghetto 1-bedroom in Parkdale (King & Dufferin area) runs $1200.

I'm lookin for a studio mostly, but a 1 bedroom would do too if it's cheap enough, and tbh those prices don't seem too expensive compared to where I'm at in san francisco, here a studio costs about $2,500 a month.

The apartment I just got is a little snug, but its a bachelor pad that goes for $1080 a month. and its relatively close to yonge / dundas.

Whats a good area in downtown to look for apts? If I'm going to buy, it'll probably be a 1 br, if I'm gonna rent I'll stick with a studio. I heard dundas/king is a good area, is that true?

Oh yeah, I meant in between the two areas in downtown, so I guess i should have just said around queen st
Went to take my bike test, they cancelled it because my foot brake doesn't activate the brake light. Thankfully they re-scheduled me for the 14th, I just need to learn how the electrical on my bike works, identify the problem, and fix it by then, with only evenings to spare time to do so since I work 7 days a week. Should be real fun trying to do that and fix my grandfather's old pocketwatch.
Found out the problem, took 10 seconds and it's no big deal. I just need a small, very specific part that I have no idea the name of, so I asked reddit. If need be, I can ghetto-rig it with string on the 14th.
$1080 a month
Sweet! High definition rent!

What would a studio get you?
Ayyy, might be getting a Nissan 350z.
I don't know how familiar anyone is here with law, but I just found out my friends mother threw out something of mine that was $700. Long story short, my friend was keeping a 700$ box, full of things in his room while I figured out a way to move it over here. I've just found out that because of an argument our parents apparently got into a week ago, she has taken the box and thrown it out. Nobody contacted me, told me what was going on. I'm in a situation right now where I'm struggling to even eat and be able to afford my medication and now she's thrown out one of my most valuable assets. What can I do legally?

Holy crap Alberta NDP majority and Wild Rose opposition from the looks of it
Holy crap Alberta NDP majority and Wild Rose opposition from the looks of it
Yep. NDP just ended the 44 year reign of the PC's. I'm honestly fucking shocked and ecstatic at the same time.
This is pretty big
If you'd told me last year that within a year Alberta would flip from a PC province to an NDP province I'd have called you crazy. Let's be honest though, Wild Rose and the PC's are basically the same party. If Wild Rose didn't exist NDP would have got a minority.
What are the NDP's policies on big oil?
What are the NDP's policies on big oil?
Well right now their big thing is a royalties review which could potentially lead to big oil having to pay the province more money for the privilege of drilling oil in AB. [editline]5th May 2015[/editline] Of course almost all the riding's in the middle of nowhere voted Wild Rose and a bunch of the wealthier suburbs in Calgary's South still voted PC. My riding, which is in the South West, elected the NDP. Here's a map of who got elected and where: http://www.edmontonjournal.com/Interactive+Alberta+election+2015+results+riding/11030714/story.html [editline]5th May 2015[/editline] I'd like to see Zeke's reaction on this since he's always making fun of how conservative Alberta is.
I am really excited to see what changes will happen with the NDP in charge. Hopefully most of it goes well.
Best part of this, apart from an NDP majority, is that the PC's leader Jim Prentice lost so badly he pulled a "fuck this shit I quit" and resigned as leader of the party. What a schmuck. [editline]5th May 2015[/editline] Oh my god, some of the tweets I've seen regarding the NDP win are pure gold.
That really is surprising.I spent a year in Alberta I dont know if it was bad luck but I met some of the worst people I ever had the misfortune of meeting.
Surprising! i'm excited to see what this will do for the rest of us non Albertans too, if they do a decent job this proves the NDP can actually win. That might have a serious effect on voting in the rest of the country as well, more provinces might turn NDP following this.

Considering how horrid the NDP did the one time we gave them a chance in Ontario, I don't have high hopes for Alberta over the next 4 years. Also I passed all my courses this year, bopefully only 1 more year left.
Tried Oculus DK2 at Toronto VR meetup yesterday. Damn it is good. I can see why people in the reaction videos went nuts. You just have to let your mind accept the virtual reality as the real one and you feel like you're there. Weird, but cool thing - once you're "in", it feels as if the FOV increases (it's pretty good as it is, but even more so).
