Considering how horrid the NDP did the one time we gave them a chance in Ontario, I don't have high hopes for Alberta over the next 4 years. Also I passed all my courses this year, bopefully only 1 more year left.
That was 25 years ago.
That was 25 years ago.
Yes, and it'll be another 25 years before we see another NDP government in Ontario because of how bad Bob Rae fucked up. Nobody who lived through Rae wants another NDP government here because of him, so I can't see them getting elected until most of the old folks who lived under him die. I've also been hearing that they've been doing a poor job on the east coast recently out in Nova Scotia.
I wonder what Alberta NDP will do about the sulphur ziggurats the oil companies are building.
That's actually really cool. Probably really toxic too, but really cool.
Also a fire hazard.
Bomb alert right beside my job, first time my day went by so fast because I spent half of it talking to cops, firemen and the EOD Team present, it was my first time seeing one of these EOD robots with my eyes.

So after a 1h 40m round-trip after work to Brampton Powersports I got the $3.50 spring I needed for my bike, and it took all of 10 seconds to install. My bike works properly now. My pocket watch, not so much. I got the donor movement, moved over the replacement parts, and it still won't move. Everything seems fine and dandy, but from what I'm reading it apparently may just be dirty, so I'm going to clean it tomorrow, because I already spent an hour staring at needle-pins and holes today and have had enough. Hopefully that's all that's wrong with it.
Fire bell went off at 1 am due to a bbq fire. How that happened I don't know but I am glad it is nothing too serious. They had to cut the door to the balcony off with a chainsaw which was some hardcore shit. I have work at 8:30 aauurrhhgf.
Gotta get a resume set this weekend to give / send to studios around town. Fire alarm went off in this studio few days ago. False alarm, but some workers on this floor thought it would be neat if the building actually caught fire.
I hate music theory
Hey all Canadians, I really like your country. Have a nice day.
I'd like to see Zeke's reaction on this since he's always making fun of how conservative Alberta is.
That's more of a ribbing than anything, like when I say that Toronto is American or that nobody has ever convinced me that New Brunswick exists Alberta is a fairly secular province with progressive cities. Compare the mayor that Calgary has elected to the mayor that Toronto has elected and it's like a comparison between Sweden and Alabama.
So the biggest meth addict in my hometown has announced she's moving away because nobody will hire her. Victory!
Maybe if you're talking about Rob Ford, but he's not mayor anymore.
He didn't stop being mayor because he was voted out though. He'd still be mayor if he didn't go to rehab and end up with a stomach tumour and up until the very end polls seemed to show that Torontonians would keep voting him in.

John Tory was the choice to win for most of the race. His brother is reflective of what support he would have gotten. Even if he didn't get the tumour, he still wouldn't have won that mayoral race.
John Tory's policies aren't that different than Ford's, but he is more capable of actually getting things done. I'm not hugely confident he won't just continue this city's trend of fucking over anyone who isn't well-to-do. I'm disappointed that they haven't learned from St. Jamestown and the other huge apartment towers the city built in the 70s - catering to "young professionals" with massive apartment/condo developers just means in a few decades we'll have more vertical slums to worry about. I think the hope is some kind of Manhattanization, but I can't help but feel that most parts of the city are going more the way of Harlem then SoHo/East Village, to keep with the comparison. You notice it when you walk around here. There are some absolutely spectacular places to live in the city - I'm up in Forest Hill where it's genuinely friendly and nice for a city, and there's tons of things to go and do. But you only need to take a bus across the Allen Road to see a totally different city. Eglinton west of the Allen is mostly a depressing, grey slum. Just throwing money at the billions needed to repair and refurbish community housing would make a world of difference, but the city council seems to have made it abundantly clear they don't give a shit about the poor, who inexplicably keep voting them in. As an absolute aside, I'm writing a novel about a hybrid zombie apocalypse/world war three scenario, and I need a bit of input. What do you think would specifically happen to the Canadian government in the event of a huge outbreak of zombies and a limited India/Pakistan nuclear exchange? I figure we barely have the military power to do adequately restore order in anywhere but a few token cities, but I might be wrong. I'd also wonder what would happen with the US, and all the crazy militias down there that would inevitably rise up. Ideas?
There's 2 million people with guns in this country, don't forget about that. I don't know if our government has a zombie outbreak procedure, but I'm pretty sure FEMA actually does. I'm pretty sure we'd just declare martial law and focus on protecting Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. There'd be militias formed here too, and a number of farmers and hunters, especially in Ontario and Quebec, would take to defending themselves.
That and Canadians are incredibly patriotic, plus we have to deal with winters, meese, the goose ,and higher prices for books for some reason.
G'day Mates
Weather's a bit English this morning.
Had everything. Car I'm used to, one hour of driving in said car with instructor prior to the test. Had a good guy marking me and a nice light traffic road. Fucked it all up. G2. Simply because I couldn't look far enough ahead to see pedestrians crossing and tried to make a right turn straight into a cyclist. I saw them, even had enough time to press the brakes and not have that error count. But no, didn't think and kept pressing the gas. Thankfully, second set of brakes. The rest of the exam I spent in complete silence, almost acing the actual driving part. Fuck. [editline]1[/editline] Dad's gonna be gloating for the next month at least.
Don't worry, I failed my G2 test the first time for failing to yield right-of-way at a 3-way stop in a 4-way intersection. Happened right at the start too, but they let me keep going then said "Well you insta-failed at the start and we didn't tell you, but otherwise you would have passed." Really pissed me off. I've also been in almost that exact scenario, except it was a lady with a stroller. I pay extra attention at that intersection now, especially since I watched a teenager in a Mustang hit a lady and send her flying. On a related note, I have my M2 exit test Thursday, and if I fail I lose my motorcycle license. The good thing is I fixed my bike, the footbrake now activates the brake light, so I should be able to actually take the test this time.
I feel like its more the instructor than the drivers skills, my instructor was laid back black dude and although i made a number of mistakes he let me pass cause i showed him that i was competent with my driving
I should book a G test soon...
I almost failed my driving test because I had to change lane and me and the examiner checked the blind spot at the same time so when I changed lane and he turned back to me, he thought I hadn't checked my blind spot to which I had to explain him that I did it at the same time as him which is why he couldn't have seen shit. Thankfully he wasn't a dick and he saw that it made sense.
So I'm rather proud of myself, I managed to make a once-broken pocket watch that hasn't ticked a second in decades do this:
Cranked up all there was to crank in terms of graphics in Arma 3 and holy shit, those volumetric clouds look good [t]https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t35.0-12/11243988_10205448343580629_699313438_o.jpg?oh=056f837fa760db8313767c3d95428f4b&oe=555471E3[/t]
