Why is there so much damn rain? It's almost the end of July and I have to wear a jacket in the hills.

I just hope we don't get another majority government, it's too much power for any single party.

[editline]26th July 2015[/editline] Also I dont want to see any more massively expensive warplanes in the budget anymore we are fighting wars against early to mid coldwar tech.
I wish the right hadn't united, or that another right-wing party would spring up with near-instant support like Reform did, just to leave Harper quaking knowing there's another choice. Then I wouldn't have to vote for him. Not that it matters in my riding anyway, the Tories have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, it's between the NDP and Liberals.

If so, I'd rather have that possibility instead of one party being able to screw things up left and right with no one able to do anything about it (to an extent).

I don't know who to vote for in this upcoming election. What are the voting parties promising and most likely to do? I do know that I don't want Harper at the moment. I get the feeling he's not exactly what is the best bet for Canada.
I'm just voting for who ever will beat harper. Which I have no idea who that is yet.

Either way, they're basically Conservatives Lite, plus legal pot. NDP: I just don't like them. They're basically promising to tax the rich and corporations a bunch, I think repeal Bill C-51, but frankly I don't think they understand how money works, so I expect our economy to tank if they're elected. Libertarians: "I want gay people to be able to protect their marijuana plants with guns."
Liberals aren't sounding too bad by that description. Maybe Justin Trudeau will be better?
Liberals are currently bottom of the polls for the big 3 because every time Trudeau opens his mouth he says something stupid and makes the party look bad. He also supported C-51, so he alienated all the left-wing people who hated that bill and they all went NDP, since they're the only party to oppose it. Then a bunch of the right-wing people in the party moved to the Conservatives just because they don't want the NDP winning. He's also caused a lot of controversy over the nomination process by basically hand-picking certain candidates in some ridings, which has led to I think 2 lawsuits. I also expect the Liberals to somehow manage to get negative votes out west because of how much they absolutely despise the name "Trudeau" out there for Pierre's National Energy Plan. He's literally the leader of the party because of his dad, who I also hate. Marc Garneau would have been a much better choice for leader. [editline]27th July 2015[/editline] Of course, I'm just one right-biased individual that, depending on who you ask, was seemingly placed here to sing the unjustified praises of Harper like an Economic Action Plan advertisement, so ultimately look into the platforms yourself on the party websites and watch the debates. Also ignore the attack ads, they're never productive.
Vote NDP. I don't know why you would ever want to, but seeing what Harper has done, why the fuck not? v:v:v
So thats the main party but what about all you guys local ridings? [editline]27th July 2015[/editline] My riding seems to be heavily Liberal siding but we have a Green Party Member running last time. Is the quebecois still a thing?
So thats the main party but what about all you guys local ridings?
Well in my local riding we have some throwaway nobody for the Conservatives because they'll never win anyway so they may as well not be running anyone here (don't even know who), assuming he tries to run again some shit for the Liberals who never did anything when he was in power before who I think got famous because his dad was a city councillor or an MP or something (Alan Tonks), the incumbent NDP who sends us flyers about what he's doing that I throw in the recycling because I don't give a shit, but at lease he's doing something and trying to make us aware of it (Mike Sullivan), and then the Greens run somebody but who really cares about them? I'm somewhat disappointed that my riding is so boring that it only has the 4 "main" parties running, at least, only those 4 ran last election. Meanwhile the riding my old highschool was in just a few blocks south had such interesting parties as the Christian Heritage, Marxist-Leninist, and Marijuana parties running.
My local riding leans Green, although we have a lot of NDP support too. Heres a nice breakdown of the main party platforms for anyone wondering who to vote for: NDP Libs PC Green
I really don't know who to vote for... Why do all my options have to be shit...
I really don't know who to vote for... Why do all my options have to be shit...
Welcome to Western Democracy. The only election I've ever voted for someone I genuinely thought was going to be a good choice, rather than the least shitty, was the last Toronto Mayoral election.
i smoked pot for the first time in vancouver when i was there
I was honestly pretty pro-liberal for a while because I thought Trudeau could be a good gamble despite his young age (Definitely a big reason was legalizing pot, but this country has way way bigger Harper issues at this point) but anyone who honestly supports and wants C-51 has a far too american way of thinking than Canada would ever need. So at this point I just hope the NDP win, no more "harper government", no more pushes towards Americanization, no extraordinary deficit (This might take a few years at this point...), and hopefully no more godawful Alberta favouritism that ends up making our economy worse off. I'm a bit afraid they'll win because It'll put me an an awkward place where I love this country, the people, and especially the geography, but I don't want to live here because we're almost essentially being ruled by a one party system (Or at least that's what it feels like after the 2011 election issues, and his blatant contempt of parliament)
I mean, we could always stage an armed uprising? [sp]I'm not serious, CSIS.[/sp]
I mean, we could always stage an armed uprising? [sp]I'm not serious, CSIS.[/sp]
I'm sure if we got Quebec rowded up enough we could get something going.
i smoked pot for the first time in vancouver when i was there
Opinions? [editline]28th July 2015[/editline] Checked the list Rhenae posted and already checked off Conservative. Again, I'm leaning liberal on this. Or Green party. Most likely going Liberal because I have sincere doubts about how well the green party votes will do, going with whatever has the better chance of winning this that isn't Harper.
just got back from Canada's wonderland with my bf. It's awesome Gj canadia

Holy fuck, it's been toasty in Northern Ontario lately. Goddamn I wish my car's AC was working. I'm so close to sticking a desk fan in my passenger seat to keep me cool when stuck in traffic. Either that or just keep refilling the AC refrigerant and having it leak out into the atmosphere in four days.
I would never buy a car with no AC, and the first thing I'm buying when I move out if my condo/apartment has no AC is an AC unit.
For the few days that I had the AC going before the refrigerant leaked out, it was amazing. But yeah, once the 2016 Fiesta ST comes out, preferably with 0% financing... My trusty Cavalier is outta here.
33c in GTA today. global warming is fucking with Canada hard [editline]29th July 2015[/editline] this kind of continuous high heat just wasnt common years ago. It's the same back home in Ireland
