I couldn't see a block ahead this morning with all that fog. Not often you see that.
I remember my mom was driving on the highway with me and the fog visibility was roughly 50 meters at most. It was kinda scary as shit because going 100km/h means once you see something, you don't have much time to react and avoid a collision. Good thing it was a short highway trip back then.
Markham was mostly clear by 11am or so.
Speaking of the morning, at around 10am my entire campus lost power. This is the second time it happened this month. They later announced that due to the power outage, the college is going to close for the day at 2pm. Basically all of the students cheered in enjoyment that they get to leave. 5 minutes later the power came back up and they announced that the college will now continue running. Everyone was now sad. Damn. The power was out for 4 hours, but there was of course back up generators and emergency lights, etc.
Is there gonna be another facepunch meet up in Toronto in the near future?
Even McGill and Concordia which are both considered very good universities I believe are what, sub-5k? Something like that.
I'm kind of hyped, I was having a huge down, borderline suicidal because let's just say that moving crates of bananas in a supermarket is not exactly a gratifying job and that I can't find anything else hurt my soul and that I'm also a lone wolf which while what I prefer isn't always what I want.
But now that I know I'll be able to improve a bit in my life by going into networking, I feel better. Seems that Programming and Networking have similar salaries but programming isn't for me I think, I've always liked networking more.
I looked online and it seems that the salary for what I'll go in is able to go up to 150k/year which is amazing, I'm just happy that I'll be able to make more than minimum salary, not even looking for 6 figures, just knowing I'll be able to live and work something more gratifying makes me happy.
I always wanted to be a sysadmin because I heard it pays really well so I guess now the dream will become a reality in a couple of years.

I recently graduated from Cambrian College's Computer Systems Technology course, which is apparently well regarded. I know people from our program do very well in the skills competitions and the Cisco prof writes the textbooks for Cisco and the rest of the profs are good. People from outside the city may not enjoy the idea of living in Sudbury, though...
Anywho, I got a job as a network admin for a small-medium sized rural ISP, if you want to PM me / add me on Steam/Hangouts, go ahead.
Just in general, Mississauga is kind of a mistake.

I went to Sudbury once, the nickel mine was closed and there's like nothing else to do there, so it was kinda 4 hours wasted. I was like 7 or something too. I think we stayed in a HoJo's and then went to Gravenhurst.
the canadian flag at the bottom of my post is gone hjelp

Spent the weekend in Moncton, it felt dirty not sorting my garbage
Took an M1 Exit test today in the pissing rain. Now all I need to do is talk to DriveTest Downsview again and I can hopefully have my whole fiasco about not getting my full M sorted out. I tried going there today, but the lady who knows about my situation wasn't there.
Also prelabs are the spawn of Satan. I want to go play boardgames tonight, but I need to make sure I can finish this prelab.
I showed up to work today.
I wasn't scheduled to work today :V:
Are you me?
Exact same shit happened to me today except it was a legit mistake that I couldn't have avoided.
I was scheduled to work from 3 to 9 today but they changed the schedule without fucking calling me so I showed up with everyone confused only to see that the schedule changed. Oh well, I have proof that it was on my schedule before they removed it so I get paid while staying at home :^)
Oh, I might be visiting Montreal over thanksgiving.
What business do you have in my realm.
The age of voting arrives. With the Mulcair not making his stances clear, Trudeau being shit and Harper lying its going to be interesting.
This had better be Harper's last election.
So, with federal election being just around the corner who is everyone leaning towards? I personally have no idea who I am voting for at the mo-mo.
What business do you have in my realm.
I'm bring tourism money in exchange for Poutine and smoked meat. :D
Unrelated, I'm probably going to vote NDP due to C51

For me at least, it's just "not Harper". I'll take a risk with Trudeau or the NDP over suffering through another Harper term.

I did exactly the opposite. I read the schedule wrong and didn't show up for a shift I was supposed to be at

I can make you poutine for your tourist money. If not, La Banquise has the best poutine in town.

What else should I be eating? I don't mind spending $40+ on a decent Thanksgiving dinner.
Au Pied de Cochon, Grumman 78, Juni if you want some Japanese food, L'Express, Majestique, etc.
TBH you won't be missing out on good food in Montreal that's for fucking sure, I'd recommend Au Pied de Cochon for some Cabane a Sucre style meal, Grumman 78 is mostly Tacos but fuck me they're the best tacos ever and they're not the cheap kind of tacos you could make yourself.
You also have some smaller and more obscure restaurants that are still super good. The best smoked meat I ever had was a convenience store where the owner had legit a fucking kitchen behind the counter where you pay for your stuff and I would always order fries and smoked meat from there before going to school since I started at 6pm back then, it was amazing. I don't remember the name of the street of where it was unfortunately, I'd have to go there and I'd probably remember then.
I've been to Japan for Japanese food, haven't been to Mexico for Mexican food though.
But I'd imagine Montreal'd be best for their local foods and inventions.
Au Pied de Cochon's menu looks delicious though.
You also can't really go wrong with most restaurants in the old port, I don't remember the name but I'd recommend this one restaurant in the Vieux Port that's all about Fondue.
Fondue au fromage followed by Fondue Chinoise followed by Fondue au Chocolat, super good stuff. I'll have to look up the name.
Yeah Au Pied de Cochon IS delicious.

That's how I am starting to think too. Except I think I might just go straight up NDP. I don't know, something about Trudeau just rubs me the wrong way.
So there's a video floating around Youtube of a pothead trying to buy a bong with Vancouver's new Compass card and then ranting off because his new money card doesn't work.
is it you??

Sidenote, where the fuck can I buy this stupid card?
The London Drugs near me is like "we'll have the machines here soon", and the ticket machines at SkyTrain stations don't sell them for some reason (??).

I just don't want to carry coins on me anymore, and the LD is always sold out on FareSavers.
It will probably be another year considering Translink's track record.
