You do realise the energy needed to control a person who is as strong as you and weighs the same, also think about the force being pressed upon the person below and the amount of pain it could be.
Fighting in general takes an insane amount of energy. MMA fighters are insane.
Boxing is better.
So make a boxing thread, troll.
I'm not saying I don't also like boxing, but that was quite rude.
Takes true grit and skill to become successful in this game, A desire to win, and 100% dedication, You're at 99%? You lose.
That in itself makes it a more competitive sport than Boxing. I've seen boxing matches like Audley Harrison vs Danny Williams where neither could beat up an empty bowl of rice pudding. Most MMA's fights are either slug fests, or tactical battles of positioning.
Someone I know also thinks that Bruce Lee would knock the crap out of anyone in MMA without fail.
How I laughed and laughed.
I can't wait for UFC 100.
I train in MMA, which is a combination of Bushido Karate, Aikedo Te, Kung Fu and Brazilian Ju-Jitsu. It's good fun and a great work out. Once i'm a high enough belt I'm going to start fighting in tournaments. That wont be for a while though, while I know self defence (been with Bushido Academy of Martial Arts for 2-3 years) I've only recently started doing MMA (the school split into a traditional Karate school and an MMA school)
Big fan of MMA, and UFC 99 was a good card. I always considered doing a bit of training in a few different disciplines, I've already have some boxing experience but haven't taken the jump to MMA training.
Might do it when I have a little more spare money.
EDIT: I want Overeem to be in the UFC so much.
thread needs more Chuck Liddell

Yeah a lot of kids at my school think they can fight like these guys they get up in the middle of class and start fighting and they all think its so cool I never found it interesting. I only found WWE a little interesting.

I can't tell if you're trolling or not.

Oh wow, you like a fake "sport", if I can call it that, more than a real one?
My main point was a lot of kids at my school think they can fight like these guys they get up in the middle of class and start fighting and they all think its so cool I never found it interesting.
i watched it so now I hate MMA and all the kids at my school wear "Tapout" shirts or have "Boxing" videos on their Myspace with their "fav" MMA character as their background
I don't wanna sound like I'm contradicting you, but how is that so? I've seen boxing matches and UFC matches, and although both guys tend to leave the ring in one piece in both, there seems to be a lot more damage done by UFC fighters. Their gloves look to be a lot lighter than boxing gloves, and they use more fighting techniques. I guess that doesn't add up to more safe in my mind.
Has to do with the rules and regulations. For one example, when you get dropped and KO'd in the UFC, there's no 10 count. That's it, your out. In boxing, perhaps the most dangerous aspect is that they allow fighters to get back up and fight multiple times throughout any number of rounds, despite their concussions.
But regardless, what I was trying to get across in my previous post, is that for a very long time now, Dana White has been trying to change the public's perception of the UFC as a "bloodsport"/"no rules" fighting event. Alot of people still perceive the UFC and other MMA events to be nothing more than streetfighting brawls, which, as most of you probably by now know, is anything but true. The amount of talent some, if not all, of these fighters possess is amazing.
EDIT:
Also, if any of you are those lame ass losers who go around wearing tapout/fighter gear etc, seriously STOP. I'm sick of people who go to a BJJ class for one night and then start walking around the streets wearing tapout, trying to look hard. No matter how much training you've done, until you've competed in an actual fighting event, you're not a fucking fighter as I'm concerned.
Also related, stop wearing it to impress chicks. I've seen dudes at parties wearing that shit, standing against the wall with their arms crossed, trying to look badass. Then whenever a conversation comes near them, they just somehow have to try to drop in the fact that they are a "fighter" or "mixed martial artist" despite the fact no-one asked them, and the topic at hand was completely irrelevant for such a statement.
I don't know if you guys know this but I've watched a lot of MMA, so I can theoretically kick your ass.

I think MMA organizations such as UFC are by all means "bloodsport" - although I do not think that's a bad thing. I would be proud as fuck to ever have the chance to compete in such a "bloodsport" as a UFC tournament. The problem is that sissy-ass upper-class Americans hear about "blood" and "violence" and they instinctively put a negative label on it. Such ignorance... and the upper-class is such a low percentage of the population, it's ironic.
And if you don't think USA Boxing has received the same type of criticism, think again.
In my personal viewpoint, I would equate the spirit of MMA to gladiator fights back in ancient times (though obviously, there are no weapons and the intent is not to kill).

Lol, I agree with the thing about Tapout - I never touch the stuff.
[editline]08:34PM[/editline]
UnderArmour is way better anyway. :v:
I have a friend who wears a lot of tapout. He's shaped like a pear, and we always make fun of him.
He's shaped like a pear
He's fat?
He's fat?
Not really. He's not really fat all around, he's skinny up top, but has quite a gut.
