Any real man should be able to go toe-to-toe instead of resorting to cheap instant win tactics
It's funny I hear similar statements out of every other "wrestling is gay" twat out there, until they learn about ground work and how hard it is, and then all of the sudden they start singing it's praises and getting all excited at the techniques they suddenly spot instead of "nah im a tough cunt, that wrestling shit is gay waah wahh".
There is no cheap instant win tactics. The only time you'll ever secure a cheap instant win, is if the other person has no ground game, which is their own fault for being a fucking idiot and thinking like you.
"real man" please, a real man should be able to spot his weaknesses and work to fix them.
Didn't Kimbo Slice get beat really bad in a fight with one of those MMA guys?
Lost to Seth Petruzelli in EliteXC: Heat in October of last year by TKO.
Didn't Kimbo Slice get beat really bad in a fight with one of those MMA guys?
Yeah. he's just a guy who beats up normal street guys who have no fighting experience. He stepped into a ring with someone whose actually fought before and lost... I believe kimbo was talking shit too haha.
Fuck off, Kimbo Slice is the guy everyone loves to hate. People claim he's overrated, I say he's sorely underrated - he just got dunked in too deep, too fast. He was playing in a den of wolves when he should've been working on foxes so to speak.
Given another chance, and a proper one this time, Not just throw him in the deep end because he's a catch name, I think kimbo could possibly display some very good talent.
He's set to be a member of the house in the next season of the Ultimate Fighter, so time will tell, this is a very good chance for him. Although he was working with Bas Rutten previously.... That said, the best fighters don't always make the greatest trainers.

Wait, what? Kimbo will be in Season 10 of UF? Holy crap..
ive been doing gracie jiu jitsu for a while.

im still waiting for rickson gracie to have another fight
A couple of guys from class, myself, and my dad all chipped in to buy our own building that we'll be converting into another Gracie school! I'm out of town right now, but when I get back in a few weeks it should be all set up. I'm quite excited. We'll have a very spacious training area with plenty of room for exercising, sparring, and instructing.
I've only got two months left until I ship for Basic Training, so I'm going to be taking advantage of this opportunity. Every morning at eleven I'll be pounding the mats. I hope I've got the energy for it. There's no better cardio than jujitsu.

Cool, man, this would be a dream-come-true if it happened to me :v:.
On cardio, though, I would say swimming is better
Takes true grit and skill to become successful in this game, A desire to win, and 100% dedication, You're at 99%? You lose.
That in itself makes it a more competitive sport than Boxing. I've seen boxing matches like Audley Harrison vs Danny Williams where neither could beat up an empty bowl of rice pudding. Most MMA's fights are either slug fests, or tactical battles of positioning.
Someone I know also thinks that Bruce Lee would knock the crap out of anyone in MMA without fail.
How I laughed and laughed.
Not really I mean how do you mathematically measure dedication through percentage system? And if you say it's a more competitive sport than boxing that's just a lie. Myke tyson would wake up every day 6 AM, run non stop till 10 and his whole day would be straight training. His whole life was training and you could see the results in the boxing ring. And they are both equally as competitive when you are the one trying not to get knocked out.

Agree, a lot of guys trash-talk Slice, but they always fail to own up to the fact that...
a) he's had 4 official matches
b) he won 3 of them
c) street-fighting doesn't discredit his abilities - that is not logical in anyway, just because the public doesn't approve
shit man I love MMA, it's actually my ambition to compete in PRIDE one day, I do have one gripe though, it isn't Muay thai and BJJ, its also boxing, kickboxing, judo, and greek style wrestling (I do Muay Thai and Judo) other than that a good informative thread
plus for a fighter Gina Carano is fiiine
PRIDE is done, homie. Been done since 2007.
And for you people asking how is MMA safer then Boxing, well, let's look it.
MMA, stoppage by strikes is usually very fast and instantaneous. Once a fighter goes down and is unable to defend himself, the fight is stopped and the fighter will recieve no more damage. If the fighter is knocked out completely unconscious, the fight will usually be stopped before any more punches are thrown.
Submissions, stoppage by submission is usually done by tapping or the ref calling it. Me being a submission fighter I have lots of experience with this. If the person isn't tapping out or is unable to do so, the ref will stop and pull the person out of the submission, against or with his will. The referees are always looking out for the safety of the fighters.
Boxing. You get punched in the hard alot more times then MMA. Let's also look at the 3 knock down rule and 10 second standing count. Once a fighter goes down, the ref will back the other person away, and give the fighter 10 seconds to recover. Everytime a person is knocked down by a punch they were rendered unconscious. There is no other way around it. The nerves were blocked by the force and they passed out. Doesn't matter if they're completely out, just a little out, or there knees buckled, they went out. So, as long as the fighters still regains consciousness after a few seconds, he is allowed to be knocked out 2 more times during the match. The more hits you take after being rendered unconscious REALLY REALLY hurts your brain. Your body is basically telling you to stop fighting once you get knocked out, because your brain can't handle much more. Your brain can really only handle 10 hard knockouts in it's life time. After 10, you start losing co-ordination, eye sight, your speech is slurred, you can develop parkinson's (See: Muhammad Ali/Cassius Clay), your body will stiffen, your heart rate/pressure will slow, your bodily functions can stop altogther. Now, Most MMA fighters have around 20-30 fights including both amatuer and professional. Boxers have around 110-200 fights amatuer plus professional. In MMA you need about 4-5 fights to go professional, then about 5 to get in a big organization, Then you start getting paid for high profile fights vast sums of money. You need to fight around 60-70 amatuer matches in boxing just to get professional. And after that, the talent pool is so big that you most likely won't go anywhere professionally unless your body is in top physical conditioning and you have the gift. So, let's take a look over...Mixed martial arts is not only punching, but it's also submission fighting which can also reduce the risk of having serious concussions or brain injury. Boxing is only standing and punching, where your main goal is to knock the other competitor out. Which one do you think is more dangerous?
tl;dr you get punched alot in boxing

Kimbo Slice is a joke. He fought 3 dudes that are jokes. Tank Abbott? Bfd. Even in his prime he was a joke. He got clowned by anyone who could take him to the ground.
he got knocked out by seth petruzelli. I've met and trained with Seth. He doesn't punch that hard. Atleast not harder then me.
I'd clown kimbo slice. He'd try throwing some huge punch (albeit if it hit me I'd most likely go down) and I'd duck under, shoot, take him down, pass his guard like butter and submit his ass. A skilled grappler will always beat a skilled puncher.

Wrestler for 4 years right here, woop woop
I've always wanted to get into this, but I don't know of any good gyms around me. Closest town from mine is 40 or so miles.
I'm not a big guy, with training I would be a lightweight, but I've got a lot of will...sucks that I really can't get into anything like this. Hopefully after High School I can move somewhere and join a good gym.

You're fucking crazy. I was agreeing with your post till i read this.
Same. Kimbo has improved dramatically since his Tank Abbot fight.

And Petruzelli still beat the shit out of him in 14 seconds in stand-up.
Anyway, my UFC 100 opinion:
Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir
- It can go either way. Brock's gonna pulverize Frank Mir in standup, but if Brock wants to do a hugging match like he did with Herring, Mir subs him.
Georges St-Pierre vs. Thiago Alves
- It can go either way, but I'm leaning towards GSP. GSP is calmer and more precise whereas Alves is too aggressive, Alves might slip.
Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago
- Can go either way, they have impressive wins and even more impressive submission skills.
Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping
- I'm favoring Bisping, his takedowns and counters is too good for someone like Hnderson
Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Alan Belcher
- No fucking contest, Akiyama got this
Fuck I hate brock lesnar.
That dude is so totally on something. Either that or he was dosing up the HGH while he was a young boy. If he is still using (which IMO, he fucking is) it's only a matter of time till he fucks up and gets caught.
That and stick him and some other freaks in a new division seriously. Dude has the hugest fucking weight advantage.

No, he's not roiding. He was in the WWE but he's not anymore. One of my coaches is a former juices and has told me the tell-tale signs of roiding.
Thin skin, enlarged veins, lower weight (E.G. john batista weighing only 230...what the fuck), low endurance, Lower body displacement (Bad hips, bad knees, under developed muscles) and a bad back. Brock lesnar has none of these things. Brock Lesnar looks TREMENDOUSLY more natural then he did in the WWE. His skin is more full, it has more fat in it, his muscles don't bounce around like they used to, and he's fucking..lightning. I'm gonna go out even as far to say he's faster then most light weights.
I think the only disturbing thing should be that nature concieved this man.

His wrestling skills sure did help against Nog. Oh wait, he tapped to an armbar from him, TWICE. Oh and a nice rear end choke from Silva.
Your right, he doesn't have a knockout power like Hendo. But from his records, he seems to be pretty good at TKO's and submissions. Let me emphasise something: submission. But I say, it'll be a damn good close fight.

Bisping doesn't have shit on submissions. Hendo is also a very skilled submission artist. You're looking at the top bjj practicioners in MMA that have submitted this guy. Who has micheal bisping submitted?
