Vera... i dont know the other guy so hehe
[editline]08:45PM[/editline]
oh ii do know him
[editline]08:45PM[/editline]
vera still
Lol, you're probably right though - Vera has more experience overall. Jones is really young too. I think in this case it won't mean he's faster - it will mean he's a less knowledgable fighter overall, compared to Vera who is older and has been in more fights (not to mention that Vera, unlike Jones, carries a former Heavyweight championship title from WEC).
UFC is utterly boring. They walk around eachother, feint a couple punches, and then swing wildly, and end up writhing around on the floor. If you want some real action, watch some REAL kickboxing, Taekwondo, or any other single martial arts fight. All these guys on UFC talk all this shit and are masters in multiple arts and just punch at eachother. come on.

Taekwondo??? Give me a break, dude. All they do is circle each other for 5 minutes, then one guy knocks the other guy out with a single flying kick. If you think that has more action than UFC, I don't know what to say to you.
Vera.. but jones is pretty impressive... Hmm...

If you watch Olympic Taekwondo, more or less they're going for a KO rather than points. Watch other Taekwondo.

Unfair match ( opponent is a red belt, one below black), but entertaining. The second guy is phenomenal. even in olympic matches, at least they don't win by rolling all over eachother on the ground.

Ok, here's why UFC is more exciting than Taekwondo sparring:
UFC DOESN'T WEAR PADS!

and look how they're restricted, they are discouraged from kicking to the body or head because of that, and in turn, the fights are boring.
they're not restricted, those are legal moves
how often in ufc do you see them kicking? kicking is twice as effective as punching. i've seen an occasional light head kick or some inner leg kicks to unease their balance, that's it.

Several things:
- Some MMA fighters kick more than others. It has to do with their training and what they're comfortable with.
- MMA is an all-contact fight; that means your adrenaline has kicked into gear. When that happens, it's amazing how less agile you become (hence, your ability to kick is much reduced compared to your ability to flail your arms). In TKD sparring, you're protected by pads which makes it less of a fight and more of a *contest*. Trust me, bro - I've done both TKD and MMA. I will tell you straight up that TKD is not real fight training.

It's about the technique and efficiency of your execution Mr Know It All.
BJJ (blue belt) & TKD (red tag) represent.

Nice, but you need a REAL striking art in there. :v: I would recommend all-American boxing classes. That, or a combo of Muay Thai and Krav Maga. Just my opinion.
really it's more of the fighter than the art. you can't really say one is better than the other.

pads don't change your adrenal response. they stop you from breaking bones, not concussions and pain. adrenaline is what heightens your abilities, not restricting them. in the UFC they are limited in what they can do by rules so they don't kill eachother. what's more fun, watching people play holding back or being able to go full out?
really it's more of the fighter than the art. you can't really say one is better than the other.
Im talkin about CLASSES dude, not arts - Muay Thai instructors don't teach you to use your hands near as well as a boxing instructor will, but they will incorporate the feet. Krav Maga instructors will train you to strike instinctively and as repetitively as possible. These are all important elements.
EDIT:

This would lead me to believe that you haven't been in fights without the pads... trust me - it's different.
Here's how adrenaline works. When you're not fighting, it's normal. When you throw the pads on and spar, it increases so you have heightened performance. However, when your actual body is in serious risk of damage and/or death, your adrenaline will increase even higher and your brain will actually DETRACT from your ability to be agile and INCREASE your ability to be strong and fast. Basically, the higher it goes, the more and more you will be able to fight like a clumsy bear, essentially.
That's why MMA fighters are so kickass - because they push themselves to be as agile as possible while dealing with a very high level of adrenaline that a guy with protective gear on will not get the opportunity to experience.

very true, each art teaches you different ways of doing things. Jiujitsu can teach you to get up their ass and tkd can teach you to keep your distance. (tkd lacks formal training in grappling and grappled situations, you just gotta learn to keep your fuckin' distance.)
(tkd lacks formal training in grappling and grappled situations, you just gotta learn to keep your fuckin' distance.)
That is EXACTLY why tkd is not a truly effective fighting art - because getting up close and having intimidating form sometimes can mean the difference between winning and losing a fight. its true. if you bring that "keep your distance" mentality into any octagon-shaped arena, you're good as dead.

There seems to be a krav maga class at my martial arts academy, I'd have to stop attending Judo though to attend. May consider it.

id stick with the judo unless the KM instructor knows what he's doing - you can tell if he really knows what KM is all about if he does surprise-attack drills. those work really great in training, but unfortunately not all KM instructors are motivated enough to do those.
UFC 111 is coming
Canada is going to have Dan Hardy's blood in bags soon.
and lol to the guy saying UFC is terrible. They're like that because your taekwondo shit doesn't work as well in a real fight where everything is possible. And most people after their first fight realizes their ineffectiveness.
example:
watch Stephan Bonnar(TKD) getting his ass kicked by a wrestler named Jon Jones.
I felt sorry for Bonnar.
lol, yeah but Jones aint got shit on Vera (whose fight is coming up before UFC 111, btw).

i dont know man.
after that hug fest with a randy couture, I don't know how well he'll do against spinning backfist suplex Jones.

Don't get me wrong, Jones is good - its just he lacks a lot of experience when compared to Vera. Vera has had more fights, not to mention he's, like, 10 years older than Jones. I think thats what its gonna come down to - experience. Jones' youth might provide him with an agile edge over Vera, but if Vera plays smart, he could probably outthink Jones.

I don't like the experience argument, it always bites me back in the ass.
"Haha no. Frank Mir is a BBJ black belt, has more experienced in the octagon, and submitted the guy's ass in the first round. Lesnars going down, fuck it, I'll bet you $80 dollars!"

Watched a UFC match one time. Chokehold tapout in 50 seconds. Goddamn it that was skillful.

There has been more skillful stuff in UFC.

other fights? Such as?
UFC isn't boring to those who appreciate fighting and how hard it is.
why is football fun, its people kicking a ball
why is american football fun, its people slamming each other.
I think UFC fights involving top fighters are beautiful
