But Different =/= Better a lot of the time with Youtube. So that's what's bothering us. It was a pointless change.
They updated it again, and this time no good comes of it.

They extended the search bar, which looks ugly.
And even worse, they removed the ability to see how many thumbs up or down a video has without rating it yourself! It shows you the tiny little bar graph preview, but no numbers until you rate it.
When will they work on better things??
Youtube is fine.
If Hulu took over.. :(!!

I came in here to complain about this too. Although, you can see how many thumbs up/down a video has by clicking "show video statistics". Maybe it wasn't working when you tried, but it shows up only AFTER you click it.
The reason I hate it is because when you click "show video statistics", it shows everyone where the video is getting views from. So, if I post the link to any of my videos on any website, it's listed for the public to see. I don't want everyone to see where my video is getting hits from. That should be set to private on default. I guess I'll see if I can change it back.
they took out the star system which stopped me from going there
Well a 5 star system is good when people use the stars to rate, the thing is, people rarely ever rated anything other than 1 or 5 stars, so why have the others when nobody uses them? You either like it or you don't.
Should've cut the thread title to
Youtube is needless

Wait, why? that just seems irrational.
Google hates me
Google hates me
How so?
They should remove comments and dis/likes. Then it'd be a good change.
They should remove all social features, have it for only videos.
What would people use if youtube left?
And what is an alternative to youtube right now?
i like how they recently hidden likes (except when you like or dislike the video) should stop some of them "179 justin bieber listeners watched this! ROFL"
Wait, why? that just seems irrational.
Irrational on my end or Youtubes end?
I find that there isn't any reason to have those stats available to the public. They were always available under "Insight" for your videos - that's how it should've stayed. I don't want people getting linked to say, my Facebook page or Facepunch because I happened to post one of my videos there. That's all. :(
The complete YouTube overhaul that's been happening since last year is bullshit entirely. Perfect example of a website that gets drunk with power, ignores their users, and watches their profits increase.

YouTube used to be a community site but now it's all about Google and their money.
Don't forget the bullshit 'featured' shit which is all about the big companies or moronic stuff like Fred. I can deal with Machinima but it gets pretty annoying.
That, and ads. I want to see a music video, not some dumb annoying commercial about MONEY MONEY MONEY
Oh, but it is something. The mild effort could have served a more useful purpose elsewhere (e.g. fixing the comments)
Fixing the comments would be removing them.
