People are not equal. People can and should be judged by their actions. If someone doesn't go around robbing, hurting innocent people, then yes by all means they are better than those who do.

Your saying that your opinion is better than mine? This guys a fuckin genius. Behold.
Nobody wants to be criminal because they can there are other reasons.
It's not that simple. It really isn't. Some people are just fucked and they like it that way and they would never give it up for anything. It's not always about the money or whatever, some even do it just because they get off to the feeling of power over someone.

I didn't say anything of the sort, just that mine isn't lofty idealistic nonsense.
Wow the only crime committed was having a mohawk while wearing an Abercrombie and Fitch t-shirt. And the perp got away, disgusting.

Which is more valuable to me? My expensive property, or the life of a man who wants to take my expensive property or else he will kill me?

Im not saying my opinion is better than yours, but, my opinion is clearly better than yours.

Why don't you try to defend your position? Stand up for yourself and what you believe.

Cause what I believe simply doesn't matter. Just like everything else. Thats why, instead of argueing, im just going to say stupid shit..... brah. So in my own way, I am standing up for what I believe. Because I believe that it just doesn't matter, and life is fun. Twat.

Eyyy you edited out a little chunk of your post. Now i look a little more stupid than I already do!

just because the robber doesn't have a gun in your face doesn't mean he isn't carrying one and I'm not taking any chances. As far as I'm concerned, the guy decided that death was an acceptable risk as soon as he decided to go robbing people.

your views on self-defense are incredibly cringe-worthy and frankly quite naive as well
[editline]14th October 2013[/editline]
How do you know the gun even had bullets?
what the fuck
do you want to take that risk? here's a little hypothetical situation for you. the two of us are standing in a room together. I have a gun in your face and I'm threatening to kill you with it. that gun may or may not be loaded. you have a gun holstered. what do you do with it?
A hundred and twenty winner ratings for an anonymous man's death.
I can't believe you people are my contemporaries.
"winner"
Because 1) it enrages idealistic children 2) I thought it was a nice take-down. Glad the cop shot first.
So ill start off by saying you're all stupid and I love you, because I too, am stupid.
Look at it this way. Someone steals your shit you worked hard for. Some people say shit is more valuable than human life in certain scenerios, while others say human life is ALWAYS more valuable than shit. I say that human life is worth nothing and so is shit. So you want your shit back? Got a gun? Shoot the dude, take said shit back. Or don't. Either way, the world keeps spinning while not giving a fuck. Value only exists in the mind. You are no better than the robber, the robber is no better than you. You are no better than a motorcycle, and the motorcycle is no better than a pile of shit. that's kinda saying something
People can rate it over several different reasons. I rated it winner because a cop was there to diffuse the situation.

You speak like Tyler from Fight Club.
Remember lots of posters on here are mildly autistic gun loving teenagers.
In my opinion the officer deserves the winner rating for not dying in that situation and ending the scenario without the bike being stolen. But if you are giving a winner rating for the thief being shot and rolling around in a pool of blood your fucked up. Pretty sure no one is though.

this is the only scenario in which rusty could justify shooting someone
you people are all heartless bastards
If you're gonna go around waving a gun at people don't be surprised when they wave guns back (and actually shoot you and kill you because they're not lowlife shitheads)
you for sure don't watch many news, there are a lot of crimes where this exactly thing happens, and it's not rare at all...
most of the time they are drugged and don't give a single fuck about what they are doing.

So it's ok for you to judge folks and make offhand character assessments.
But anyone that disagrees is some sort of social deviant?
How white of you.
-edit
Don't get me wrong, I think it's noble to consider the value of a criminal's life.
But when faced with the reality of a desperate man aiming gun's at folks while committing crimes, well he is the one forcing the decisions about which lives are more valuable.
The hypothetical "nothing would have happened if you just let him go" doesn't mean anything in hindsight.
The cop was there with a kid pointing a gun at him, and he decided that he wanted to live through the situation.
Is he a sociopath for not wanting to get shot?
Is he a devil for not wanting anyone else to get shot?
Or was he just another killer, happy to find his next victim?
No one here can answer, because we aren't in his mind.
I believe he did good, and that the robber's death, is just an unfortunate consequence of his decision to point a gun at someone.
Yes, the robber's mother is heart broken.
If he had kids, they are fatherless now.
His buddy on the other bike will have to find a new friend.
Such is live.
I think the folks defending the "life is a precious thing" idea have their hearts in the right place.
Full of shit, but well meaning.
At any time you could find yourself in an extreme set of circumstances that put you at odds against all sorts of authority or public opinion.
I advise that you don't bring a gun to those sorts of parties.
What is there even to discuss?
Put yourself in the situation, would you go up to the police and fucking start shouting at him for killing the robber, saving your motorcycle and properly doing his job or would you be immensely grateful that nothing happened to you and your belongings.
Who gives a rats ass about the guy pointing a gun at innocents? He gave up on his life the moment he made that decision as it was previously stated in this thread. Dont listen to the Law, dont be protected by the law aka risk of death. Some robbers get arrested, some get away and some get shot and die. He had to make a decision this morning and that decision was to rob another guys bike at gun-point.
