because he died. and the fact that you're so gleeful about it is p creepy
because he died. and the fact that you're so gleeful about it is p creepy
it's okay, justice took him down real nice, that nullifies everything!
because he died. and the fact that you're so gleeful about it is p creepy
Then you misinterpret my words.
Sorry about my inability to communicate better.
I'll go slower in the future.
I don't know what to tell you about your creepy feelings.
Perhaps you should talk to someone about them.
(not me.. I don't care to hear about it.)
facepunch is such a bad forum
Exactly, it's understandable but ffs none of you know if he would shot or not
This statement has been said twice in this thread so far but I am not sure if it is sarcasm. The police are here to protect and serve. They will try to defuse the situation peacefully until the point where the aggressor points the weapon at either them or a civilian; that is called self defense. Saying "You don't really know if he would have shot or not" is like rolling around on an IED because "You don't know if it will really go off or not."
I'm also pretty sure that the majority of the people in this thread understand that this is a tragedy. The winner rating from me wasn't for the robber dying, but the actions of the officer. Also, it's not like everyone goes out and prances on the dead bodies of robbers. You're on an internet forum, grow a pair.
This thread shows how primitive we humans still are and I somewhat agree with Rusty. I wish some day all people would work together and there wouldn't be need for borders etc but for now that seem pretty distant future or maybe we just kill each other before we can reach that point. Also I want you guys to think why criminals exist? Nobody wants to be criminal because they can there are other reasons.
People will never work together in harmony.
It is in our biology to compete, to want to be "better" than everyone else in order to make yourself stand out and therefore improve your chances of reproducing. We are governed by our basic animal instincts, they are what guide us through everything we do. Animals in nature will always compete. Human beings will always compete. It isn't a distant future, it's a completely impossible future.
Plenty of people are criminals just because. Just how there's plenty of people with enough money to pay for things but they steal anyways, kleptomaniacs. There will always be people who, even if they have the resources and capability to do things the "right" way, will prefer to do things the easy way and just take what they want from others.
For example, one of the stores I do security at is Ross. Everything is dirt cheap there, anyone can afford it. It'd be a challenge to fit 100 dollars worth of merchandise in a single basket, things are so cheap. Yet there's people who come in and steal for no reason other than they want to. Hell, there's people we know by name because they come in on a regular basis attempting to steal. And these are people dressed well with nice cars and just about as far away from being poor as you can get. When we catch them, they will buy the merchandise, so they clearly have the money for it. They just want to steal because they can. Just how people will want to kill, or commit any other crime, just because they can.
yes im always killing people just because
Someones been playing to much GTA V.
It's really sad he died, I hope the policeman didn't intend to kill him but only to incapacitate him.
No matter what, no living being deserves to be executed. If you're thinking otherwise, I'm very sorry for you.
somebody died today? heheh, excellent. *moves cursor over winner icon, clicking with a smug grin*
[editline]14th October 2013[/editline]
with a wicked sick takedown too, epic win.
I rated it winner because nobody but the guy endangering other people's lives for his egoistic material gains got hurt.

(oh yeah.. I hate this place for this exact reason.. I forgot.)
yeah I irrationally hate things whenever some other people don't share my opinion too dude
yeah I irrationally hate things whenever some other people don't share my opinion too dude
What does that have to do with a dead man and a video?
too bad he didnt go for the headshot xD
shouldve pubbed more before he went CAL
I just heard about this in the news.
There they said he isn't dead.
Also, i'm satisfied to see someone breaking the law getting what he had coming for him, something that doesn't happen often here.
He getting shot was a direct consequence of possessing a gun and showing willingness to use it, the cop simply did what he was trained to do.
So much EDGE in this thread!!!
Death penalty for everyone haha especially fucking scumbag gum thieves, threaten to run that 7/11 owner out of business and in turn his family dies of malaria and malnutrition because he cant pay the bills?? What an asshole.

What are you doing?
What are you doing?
fighting edge with edge.
So it's ok for you to judge folks and make offhand character assessments.
But anyone that disagrees is some sort of social deviant?
How white of you.
-edit
Don't get me wrong, I think it's noble to consider the value of a criminal's life.
But when faced with the reality of a desperate man aiming gun's at folks while committing crimes, well he is the one forcing the decisions about which lives are more valuable.
The hypothetical "nothing would have happened if you just let him go" doesn't mean anything in hindsight.
The cop was there with a kid pointing a gun at him, and he decided that he wanted to live through the situation.
Is he a sociopath for not wanting to get shot?
Is he a devil for not wanting anyone else to get shot?
Or was he just another killer, happy to find his next victim?
No one here can answer, because we aren't in his mind.
I believe he did good, and that the robber's death, is just an unfortunate consequence of his decision to point a gun at someone.
Yes, the robber's mother is heart broken.
If he had kids, they are fatherless now.
His buddy on the other bike will have to find a new friend.
Such is live.
I think the folks defending the "life is a precious thing" idea have their hearts in the right place.
Full of shit, but well meaning.
At any time you could find yourself in an extreme set of circumstances that put you at odds against all sorts of authority or public opinion.
I advise that you don't bring a gun to those sorts of parties.
don't take this the wrong way
but if your death ever makes it onto the news
i'm going to rate it winner
I hate idealistic opinions.
As far as I am concerned, if you threaten to take someones life, you forfeit any sympathies I could ever have for your situation resulting that. Personally, I would love to see the guy prosecuted, but arguing what could/should have happened is pointless in this case.
you do know that's idealism too right? you're appealing to an ideal right there
fighting edge with edge.
I didn't know you can call utterly terrible attempts at sarcastic strawmen being edgy.
The guy got shot because he was aiming a gun at a cop. He didn't get death punishment for being a thief or for having a gun or even for aiming at the cop. He got shot because that was the only way to make him stop being a lethal danger to other people.
He was the one who chose to steal from people using a gun and he was the one who chose to raise a gun at a cop who's already pointing a gun at him. His decisions led to this. He's the only one responsible for getting shot.
But he didn't deserve to get shot, he's still the one to blame for it though. Same way you don't deserve to die for running a red light, but that's what you're probably going to bring on yourself.
is idealism going to be a new buzzword?? ive seen it like 5 times in this thread, "ooo rusty ur being too idealistic! fuck idealism!!"
sorry that not everyone is as willing to defer to soulless pragmatism as you i guess??
I think they mean idealism as in "The act or practice of envisioning things in an ideal form."
Ie "that guy who's holding a gun in my face is not going to hurt me if I give him everything I have, he probably doesn't even want to hurt me, probably doesn't have bullets, probably does that because he's poor and has a sick dying mother and needs money for her meds."
do you want to take that risk? here's a little hypothetical situation for you. the two of us are standing in a room together. I have a gun in your face and I'm threatening to kill you with it. that gun may or may not be loaded. you have a gun holstered. what do you do with it?
well i mean if you're talking about a robbery in that situation if someone has a gun to your face the smart thing to do would be to NOT touch your gun and give up your belongings because there's a 99% chance he will blast you before you even draw.
jesus christ dude. the purpose of carrying concealed is so you have the means to defend the lives of you or other people if the situation ever arises. it's NOT so you can play vigilante on muggers.

as opposed to "the guy pointing the gun at me is nothing more than an animal who deserves to be shot"? which is not me exaggerating i am quoting verbatim what people have said in the thread
[editline]14th October 2013[/editline]
bit idealistic to divide people into good and bad surely?
don't take this the wrong way

Thanks for the love.
Throwing a box on me would be acceptable as well though.
I can't imagine myself actually doing anything dumb enough to get shot by a cop though, and I don't know anyone well enough to have enemies, so it would have to be the result of some random thing.
A tragic dumpster diving accident, or one of those frozen piss balls from a commercial airliner... so many news worthy ways to die..
as opposed to "the guy pointing the gun at me is nothing more than an animal who deserves to be shot"? which is not me exaggerating i am quoting verbatim what people have said in the thread
Same level of stupidity, just opposite side of the spectrum.
But you are mixing the subjects here aren't you? One subject is talking about intentions of a guy pointing a gun at someone and reaction to that, the other is talking about whether someone deserves death for pointing a gun at you.
The point of calling out rusty on being idealistic was to show that his concept of situations involving threatening people with a gun is unrealistic.
bit idealistic to divide people into good and bad surely?
Narrow minded I'd say.

In the real world you'd be the one considered edgy, at least in America.
