I'm the same way but even sunglasses don't fully stop it. I think it's because I stay indoors 90% of the time though.
filled out official job application at work today: its really just a formality for the position I've already been promised and the position that project managers are planning around me taking
I'll be making a pretty grand amount for someone without a degree, doubly so for being a programmer in the space industry. Its less than I wanted though, so hopefully it won't slow down my drive to save up for a house too much and/or I can get some nice raises over the years. If nothing else, having software dev for spacecraft systems and such on my resume will let me pull a job almost anywhere I please, I imagine.

my first ever paycheck was used to buy groceries, but my one concession in there was getting myself a ben and jerry's pint to eat all for myself. a habit I wished I started earlier, though, was taking 10-15% of each paycheck and dumping it in savings. its easy to start this before your salary starts increasing, but once it gets bigger it gets harder and harder to do. if i hadn't started the habit earlier, it'd probably just end up being wasted as spending money for trivial things [sp]fantasy cocks are not trivial no sir[/sp]

On the topic of jobbo shit I've always done my job pretty ok and recently got recommended to the higherups that I get promoted to a higher-level position
On one hand more monies and better career is nice, but on the other hand me doing so would reduce the user-facing IT department here down to 1 person and some people would be pissed at me
