its funny how a lot of people (me included) have this huge shift from hating their parents, to loving and caring about them, when they go from teens-adulthood. I used to be edgy as fuck, but now I genuinely care about everything my parents do, even if they've done dumb shit in the past, and im constantly looking out for them in their old age.

Inverse happened for me tbh, and I don't feel edgy as fuck. My parents just kinda screwed me over and derailed/disrupted my whole life's trajectory. I ended up fine, but it had very little to do with them and they still treat me like a disappointment and failure.

I'll take care of my mother, but I only tolerate my father because he's good for (and good to) my mother.

My parents have some really outdated views and I have no idea what would happen if I came out as bi AND trans so who knows... but I can’t stop caring about them tbh. They've provided for me forever, even now that I’m well into adulthood. It’s a hard place to be in sometimes.
