I don't want a KOTOR era movie, I want post-trilogy stuff, I want to see modern CGI and Star Destroyers, all the cool stuff from the first films.

Oh my god no. NO!
Hrm. Reminds me lately of how I've been thinking of my own future along with my long history of an obsession with Star Wars throughout my life, starting when I watched them at 1 1/2. Played almost all the games whenever they were out, and I honestly played RP servers on Jedi Academy for forever.
Recently, don't know what started the train of thought, but I've thought of maybe a new set of Star Wars movies. Marketed as "Star Wars Tales" or some sort of thing, or sagas or continuities or anything of the sort, it doesn't matter. Instead of having to do with the constant main characters or the Skywalker family, just take it off into the corners of the EU. They'd only be tangentially related through Star Wars, not really sequels or anything.
I've thought maybe of a few movies. More moving it to a "serious" direction, or this new series being sort of more for more mature audiences or having more primary underlying themes than just plot and explosions. That isn't to say bereft of action or entertainment and filled with cursing and gore, not that kind of "mature" audience such as many games seem to have, but just a more substantial set of films. I'd say a Republic Commando movie close to the game but also almost in a style of Band of Brothers could work if done right. A KotOR movie would be great if the twist was done well and made [sp]Revan[/sp] almost a sympathetic character, but it could definitely fit as a sort of classical venture closer to the original films. I really would like to see a Bounty Hunter Wars movie, was a really awesome set of books. Could be done following Boba Fett from the Sarlaac onwards, and hey, who doesn't want a kickass Boba Fett movie? After that something original I'd say, entirely off the point of the Jedi, the Force, or anything usually focused on, something more about the galaxy and the goings on than those sorts of things. I'd say focused on a group of smugglers, Firefly-esque, about the lives of the common (But more awesome) residents of the galaxy instead of the heroes, and maybe have it on the outer rim, definitely with Nar Shaddaa and Tatooine and such.
SO yeah, all that. I'd love to see a movie with Kyle, I really would. Just don't know how that would work. Dark Forces would be cool, but I think Jedi Knight is a better story to tell, especially with the whole post-Empire feel it carries. However, JK would need the story of DF, but I don't know if there should be 2 movies of it, and it would end up terribly if they tried mashing them together. Who knows, maybe the public would like him enough they would actually want two, he's always basically been Solo with a tighter moral compass (And eventually a lightsaber).
Anyways, that's my thoughts on it and my feelings of the subject as of late, the random banter that somehow formed that post. Just think it would be cool to move away from a focus on all of the Force-sensitive heroes of the galaxy and more on the awesome stories throughout of unsung (Or otherwise) heroes, or more likely in some cases "heroes." Then again this all comes from the man who wants to write Star Wars: The Musical.
Nice essay, I don't even bother when I'm not on the first page though.
I was very disappointed in Death Troopers. It started out so well, then it had to add in 2 characters who you KNOW aren't going to die...it goes downhill from there. The ending blew too. The Republic Commando books are ok, I just wish the author had at least tried not to make Mandalorians seem like the "ideal" for the rest of the galaxy to follow. Not so much in those books, but her writing in the Legacy of the Force series has many of the main characters coming just short of wishing they were Mandalorian. Points for coming up with a whole new language for them though. As for a future movie, I wouldn't mind seeing one, but I really think Lucas needs to realize where his abilities lie. He's a good story writer. He is a very poor director. The pacing in the movies he's micromanaged is horrible, which is why many fans think Empire Strikes Back is the best one (he didn't direct it). I would like to see one set after Return of the Jedi, because I thought the whole Clone Wars plot was pretty mangled. It was a good concept, but horribly executed. Here we were hoping to see a nice sci-fi clash of armies, but instead we get an admittedly cool clone army fighting goofy-looking retarded droids. This of course is all opinion, but I doubt I'm the only one who thinks this way.
I'd say a mini-series based upon Tyber Zahn (Yes, I know he was only in a video game, but he is pretty damn awesome) would be great. Sure, it's a bit Marry Suish, but the characters are worth it.
If they ever did Kyle Katarn, they'd need to bring the actor from the FMV cutscenes in Dark Forces I/II.
KOTOR Nuff said
Well, most of the EU mando canon got axed thanks to George re-writing them, I'd say that would be a rough one to write. A Kyle Katarn series or a Death Troopers movie would be kick ass though.
We need Karen Traviss to write us a few quality scripts for the new movies in my opinion.
I read the beginning and haven't come far into the book. But you can be sure about that its horror at its best.
I read the book to, I made the horrible mistake of reading it right before I went to bed.
I want a movie based around early escapades in the Old Republic.

Wouldn't mind the fact at all that it isn't live action, it's good CGI. Any KOTOR series I would love, preferably from a sith point of view. Just don't let George do anything but provide the money. I hope they don't make anything after Episode VI, I'm more interested in the history that lead up to the trilogy or a side story, rather than some continuation of Luke being the greatest thing ever.
My favorite stories are between IV and V or right before IV while the empire is gaining power.
I think they should do an animation of the untold story of the clone wars...oh wait.
Movie about StarKiller
Starkiller is probably the most badass Jedi.
Quote me on that.
If you disagree tell me why and I'll retort.

By jedi are you including sith?
He's no Luke, Windu, Plo or Yoda, even whiny little Anakin would whoop his ass.
As far as sith go, He's nothing compared to Bane, Sidious, Vader, or Revan

He isn't Sith. [sp]Halfway through the game he becomes a Jedi.[/sp]
Luke? Luke is a whiny little bitch that only gets by doing things half assed through the use of luck and pity.
Windu? Lol, he gets thrown out of a window like a bitch.
Plo Koon was shot down by his own stormtroopers, also a bitch.
Yoda. I could see how someone could say this. He is easily one of the most powerful Jedi. The reason Starkiller is stronger? Unlike Yoda, Starkiller defeated The Emperor by himself. Yoda? Nah. He got wiped the fuck out.
Anakin? Aka Darth Vader. Starkiller could have easily killed him in The Force Unleashed. He brought his to his knees and stripped him of his facial armor via kicking his fucking ass.
Lucas doesn't know how to make a star wars movie, people just bend over and let him rape them these days. Nobody ever challenges him. That is why the last 3 have been terrible.
These days its all about how many light sabre battles can we shove into the movie with a forced romance and scenes made to appeal to any and all potential markets.
That and CG has ruined most movies for me.

So you are saying that the CREATOR of the STAR WARS UNIVERSE doesn't know how to make a STAR WARS MOVIE?
And the movies were MADE to get money, and the latter 3 (I, II, III) were made for their fanbase, they gave the people what they wanted. They did IV V and VI first because Lucas wanted the technological advances for the first 3 films because they were necessary.
Oh ya, he kills multiple Jedi as a 20 something year old Sith apprentice.
-He stops a Star Destroyer
-He Defeats the Emperor
-He Defeats Vader
-He gets killed by the Emperor to save the rebels
-He could easily fuck Juno
-His droid can do holograms and realistic lightsabers of characters from the Star Wars universe including badass Darth Maul and motherfuckin' Obi Wan
-He kills several Rancors like a beast

It might be just me, but I have a REALLY hard time accepting the fact that almost all of that happened. Dont get me wrong, its a great game, but how the hell did Lucas greenlight 1, 2, and 3 on that list? If he were to have done any of those three, the entire saga would be fucked up. In my mind, the movies have the most merit and they set the standard for what I accept in games and stuff. Jedi characters flying around dropping from 100 story tall bridges pulling multi-kilometer ships out of the air just doesnt do it for me.
The first three movies are awesome.
Absolutely everything else is a giant pile of shit. Except Dark Forces. That kicked ass.
Dark Forces was great.
In my opinion, the Star Wars movies 3-6 were the best ones... Episode 3 wasn't as great as the originals, but it was better than 1 & 2. Just my opinion, though.

Him beating the Emperor and Vader was stupid, we both know it wouldn't happen. Besides those two who does he kill? Shaak Ti? Maris Brood? No one of importance.
I just disliked the force unleashed. People say that Crysis was a tech demo, but at least crysis didn't have 3 levels, and then re-hash those 3 very mundane levels for the second half of the game...
Well if there will be new movies they better have a nice plot and characters.

Episodes I - III only did as well as they did because Lucas had already secured a fan-base. He knew exactly who to market a new film to: existing fans who already had an interest in the series (and would probably watch the movie at least once simply for carrying the name) and children who like shinny light-saber fights.
A movie about Boba Fett would be cool, I think i once heard rumor that there was a TV series planned.
