God no, the first one with the janitor was great, the next ones became boring and unfunny. People will start making shit threads like 'ask a superhero anything'.
Ask a fat person anything
No, it's just a fad that won't last forever.
No, but one about jobs and workforce in general would be very informative and helpful for finding/recommending jobs, giving important facts about your own, and so on.
Make a "Tell about your job" subforum instead of that.
Make a "Tell about your job" subforum instead of that.
That's what it is, but it doesn't limit to people to their jobs. If anyone has any kind of hobby or whatever they can share it.
This idea gives me a hard-on
Yes, "Ask a Computer Science degree student anything"
ask a homeless guy anything
Isn't this what fast threads is about? Perhaps I' am mistaken.
I say ban them. Those thread usually never get past one page, and the "jobs" are getting worse and worse. "I am a 12 year old, ask me anything!"
It's a fad and it'll go over soon, no need to create an extra forum. The front page is cluttered enough already
I don't get why there should be. If you wanted to ask the moderators about something, then there's the PM button, and usally they reply.
So it would be like the Ask / Tell forum on SA then? I think it's a good idea, but only if we can get enough people to contribute.
I think it could work pretty well. I'm a maths, physics and chemistry tutor - I can take questions on those topics. It might also help clear up the 'help me with x homework' and general help threads that keep appearing.
Most of these threads were content less and annoying, spawning useless and content less replies. Voted "I am not interested".
Ask me anything: Normal Person Edition
I vote yes. I'm interested in reading these sortof threads and see what comes up.
Why is there no "No, I think ask-me threads are worthless or should go into 'fast-threads' always."
I'd probably post a thread if there was a subforum. Probably just mainly post in the threads though now and then if I see something that spiked my interest.
Their has been like 3 "ask me about" threads and you want to give it a subforum?
Bad idea.
I'd probably resurrect my thread, so yeah, I would be interested.
Give it a try, at least for a month or two
only if we're allowed to lie about things i.e. if i made a thread saying 'ask a fireman anything' even though i'm not a fireman and not get banned then i would contribute
I don't really have anything to contribute, but if I did have something I would. Hmm, maybe "Ask a Window Factory Worker?" That depends on whether I get the job or not, and whether said job is very interesting.
Steal SomethingAwful's idea and make an Ask/Tell subforum. This would hold the "I'm an X ask me about Y" threads as well as "Anyone an X? I want to know Y" ones.
I don't think anyone would use it. People would make threads but they'd get nowhere near the attention they do in GD. Maybe make them a Fast Threads thing.
I actually agree with this. This would be something good for the Fast Threads. Would bring some new things to it.
Yes, And i would contribute but i work no where, Is there anything else that the section is for?
He's worshiped now.
For good reason though.
