Generally it's because Bass tabs are much simpler than guitar ones. Just figure it out by ear, Jesus...
Easier said than done. Some people have a very good musical ear, but not all people can take out a song by ear.

Try find piano tabs, that's alot harder :v:
For example in a lot of jazz and blues there is often use of the 3rd note of the root in bass. Just putting that out there.
I like it when they do that. It also happens in a lot of progressive music, mainly because distorted guitars sound terrible when you add in a chord tone other than the fifth. So they usually spread it out, if there are two guitarists they can have one do a powerchord with the root and the other guitarist do a powerchord on the third of the tone. They'll wind up with a 7th chord, and then have the bass play the root and what chord it is becomes solid. But they also do this with just the bass and a guitar, for example, with the I IV V progression it is impossible to tell if the key is major or minor with just powerchords. Add in the bass to play some thirds and it becomes very clear if it is major or minor.

I'm always impressed at your music theory knowledge, makes me feel like a right idiot.
