The number on the side of a tire here in America is the absolute maximum it is structurally sound at, and is only put there to tell the guys mounting them the limit they can use to seat the bead. By telling us to inflate them to that number you're telling us to put our tires in a position that's dangerous and discouraged by everyone in the service industry over here, and that's why you're getting dumbspammed and disagreed with left right and center.
..are you reading? I'm saying you SHOULDN'T put it at the max pressure on the tire..
Lowest I've ever seen on a tire intended for street use was 45PSI, and that's on my nylon belted radials.
You haven't seen many tires then. Tons of 35 PSI tires on the market. Some 24 PSI tires as well, but those are mostly smaller tires for tiny cars (10-12", for the old Swift/Metro, etc.).

I've seen plenty of tires. But then, I don't buy off-brand stuff and I don't use go-kart tires on the highway. The only sub-45PSI tires I've seen are for lawn equipment and ATVs.
My friend once was being funny and inflated his 350z's tires to the maximum on the tire. 52psi. It felt like driving a car with infinite traction.

Well the steering will be better, but it will feel like your wheels are made of wood, and if the quality of the roads is like here in belgium, you'll be bouncin the whole way :v:

Most older stock vehicles come with tires rated at 35psi. That's what my Impreza originally had.
One day i took off all my tires and drove around town, Good times.
Anyway, If your all worried about your tire pressure just go to a mavis or w/e wheel shop you have ask them to fill your tires. Mines does it for free or some other place will probably charge you a couple bucks.
