When it comes to large printing, I usually take the real size, scale it down (like 100cm -> 10cm) and give it like 450 dpi (or more). Usually works great. [editline]asdasd[/editline] BTW, the point of doing this is to make it faster to render on a somewhat shitty computer
Why 450 DPI? The DPI doesn't change anything but how big the printer will print it. It has no effect on the image size.
well shit i dont think my pc can handle working with something at that kind of resolution
well if it's a vector, work on a smaller resolution (of the same ratio) give it to me and I will scale it up for you. that might work.
you probably get these type of people a lot butttt: i've been wanting to get into graphics design (more as a hobby and it'd help with modeling when I partake in that) and I'm wondering where I should start. i've had photoshop for about 3 years but I never really do anything besides change shit. help?
post
It took me a second glance at the logo after skimming through your post to understand the concept. I love the idea, though someone did say most people won't get it (and I agree). However, if you put enough emphasis on the "angle" part itself most people would pick it up rather quickly. As for the logo alone, I'm not sure exactly, but I think it's missing a little extra (and I know it's a draft obviously). Try pitching some ideas around and see what you can do.
wow if my computer rendered something with that size. wait it wouldn't render at all
i usually make posters around 9000x11000 or something [editline]30th October 2011[/editline]
well shit i dont think my pc can handle working with something at that kind of resolution
seriously?
i usually make posters around 9000x11000 or something [editline]30th October 2011[/editline] seriously?
well inacio's resolution of 4k by 2k pixels is only 14 and 10 inches whereas he wants 20 and 30 inches, so yeah it will be quite laggy for some PCs

at work, selling movie tickets, a man and a woman who are buying tickets from me ask what I do and I'm like 'you mean what do I DO do?' and they said yeah and so I said that I am studying graphic design and that I make lots of movie posters and other such things, and then they handed me their business card and told me theyre actually making a film and are looking for people to do promotional stuff for it and to email them o: [editline]30th October 2011[/editline] its probably nothing though
Whats the film they're working on? Id really like to be a director as well, but that's just a dream :(
nothing big i assume, their business card was for a fitness club [editline]30th October 2011[/editline] lol
where do you study rusty?
swinburne but i am leaving after this year it's shitty I would like to go to the Australian Academy of Design
Yeah I've heard swinburne isn't great. what's bad about it? I'm hoping to go to RMIT after I finish my course this year.
Yeah I've heard swinburne isn't great. what's bad about it? I'm hoping to go to RMIT after I finish my course this year.
disorganized and hopeless excuses for teachers [editline]31st October 2011[/editline] RMIT is probably among the most disorganized of them all
That's pretty terrible for a place like Swinburne.

Gotta start small if you want to get big. Just getting your stuff out there is what matters.
this is the guy lol

looks like you'll be making some promotional material for a movie called "how to burn your fatty in 5 days or less!". The kind off stuff they bundle with excercise machines :v:
my bad, but thanks. i call it graphics design a lot on accident because the thought of multiple graphics created by one individual makes me put that s on.
study principles of design first and foremost. if you don't understand textbook design then just knowledge of software often does nothing but hurt really.
this is brilliant http://slipsum.com/
need help with my magazine for my coursework. it's not the best, but it's better than some retards using MS paint to do their magazine spread. http://filesmelt.com/dl/battlefieldtest_new1.pdf comments & criticism, sorry about the pdf but that's the best quality i could get it at.

They somehow look out of place, I think :/

Imposiblities?
Logo I made for my year of architecture, or environmental design, as my school calls it. Its got an 'e', a 'd', a '2' (or II), its a pencil (for drafting), and it kind of looks like a domed building with columns.
your logos are deep
Imposiblities?
Whoops, I posted the typo one instead. I've fixed it now.
Learning about doing whole company profiles this week. Tasked to make some graphical elements (and of course a small profile manual) for the logo we made a month or two ago, just to get the hang of it. Well, this is what I came up with. The Logo (which I have already posted here) is the arm.
