it's a little tight on the bottom of the y, it's nearly touching the O of OR which doesn't look great also you need to tweak your outlines, the arm of the r and descender of the y in irony are a bit messy. otherwise, a good use of colour (although maybe tone down the circular gradient from the middle, it's a little too strong just now imo) and the font of irony itself is quite wide/extended, but then i guess if you change that you'll have to change the whole thing. it's bebas neue for the rest of the copy right? good choice :v:

The r and the y look funky because photobucket it retarded and doesn't know how to resize images.
you're working in photoshop, not illustrator/flash? this is vector work, you should be working in a vector program, then you wouldn't have those problems
you're working in photoshop, not illustrator/flash? this is vector work, you should be working in a vector program, then you wouldn't have those problems
I did it in illustrator, but I saved it as a .png so it could be uploaded to photobucket. Is it possible to upload a vector file to the internet to be viewed?
my bad, i'm retarded and can't read. but are you sure that's the problem, because the rest of the image hasn't been distorted at all, it's just those two arms [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] but you're right a png is your best bet. you can also save as a jpeg if you turn on anti-aliasing, it shouldn't make too much difference if you're just showing people online
It's my first poster ever. It's from a song and don't be too hard on me. [thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1275475/posterLoL.png[/thumb] [thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1275475/poster2.png[/thumb]
the pink and red combo looks very odd, its not only hard to read but the colours don't compliment each other.
the pink and red combo looks very odd, its not only hard to read but the colours don't compliment each other.
The funny thing is I downloaded the color palette from a graphic design site. But I have the whole thing in layers and I want to keep the red, so what do you recommend?
and a couple of different applications as requested by the client [thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25318683/logo2.jpg[/thumb]
I'm really digging that colour scheme. I'm looking for a logo for a site, just the name of the site in a nice font really. Could any of you guys help me out? <3
The funny thing is I downloaded the color palette from a graphic design site. But I have the whole thing in layers and I want to keep the red, so what do you recommend?
colour wise try red + beige + dark grey (around #121212) also I don't like the font, it doesn't fit the theme. Plus the cracks on the grunge look to obvious, I think a solid colour would work a lot better.
The funny thing is I downloaded the color palette from a graphic design site.
just because you downloaded the palette from a design site doesn't mean that you can just put them together and it's guaranteed to look good, and i think goodthief's right, they look odd together. just because they compliment each other normally doesn't mean they *always* will, and in this case i don't think there's enough contrast between them to properly define them. also if you don't already know of it, try kuler, i find it very useful!
also if you don't already know of it, try kuler, i find it very useful!
thanks for this!

I'll try it with one of those palettes. [editline]17th November 2011[/editline] Am I making it any better? [thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1275475/poster3.png[/thumb]
yes, so much easier on the eyes.
Yay, thanks. I want to try and print it to see how it looks, but does it look similar when you print it as a test on a4 and later on a bigger format? I'd be printing both at this printing place, I don't have a printer...
does it look the same? what do you mean? as far as the colour values go nothing at all should change, but as for the perceived size of type and (to an extent) the composition, yeah it'll look different printed at A4 than full size (A2, i imagine?) one of the first and most important things we learn at uni is the importance of running things out to look at them. how good things look on the screen can be dramatically changed once you see it in real life. "that font's way too big!" "that image is huuuge!" i've always tended to find that i go too big on screen, then have to resize down when i realise how ridiculously large the tagline is, or how much space the main image is taking up. it might but then there's the other issue in that if you're making a poster that you want to finally print in, let's say, A4 and A2... they won't be the exact same image. you'd normally make the text on the A2 poster smaller, because whilst it's fine at A4 size, when you blow it up it'll be way too big. and the same works in reverse, if you have the final image sorted for printing at A2 size, you'll probably want to adjust the text size for the smaller poster. sorry, i've not been very coherent in trying to explain what i mean but i hope you sort of get what i'm saying!
Here are some leaflets that I had to create for my Tutors other job. This was my design. [t]http://i41.tinypic.com/9u0k5g.jpg[/t] He then asked me to re-do to how he liked it. Front [t]http://i44.tinypic.com/906hom.jpg[/t] Back [t]http://i42.tinypic.com/zlt2ts.jpg[/t] [editline]17th November 2011[/editline] I was disappointed he wanted to change my original design, but I was also happy because he printed and used my re-design at the expo he went to.
To be fair your original design was rather bland, im glad he made you change it. But color balance wise i think it's superior.
The first design did seem a bit cheap looking. The final design looks much more proffesional.

but i'm guessing DB doesn't study design... so i think we can let him off!
Nah I don't, that was my first time designing something *professionally* & the text had to be on there.
heh, "professionally"

I guess I'll just have to test it and see how it is the first time. Thanks for the advice. [editline]17th November 2011[/editline]
see, I told you that the colour temperatures looked better reversed :v:
Yes but with the original palette I didn't have much of a choice. This way I had much more to work with... This stuff is fun too :D
its that time again guys, this time it's the third release of the free love digi saga (keep in mind its supposed to be scaled down to mostly 300x300, i have no idea why beatport usually requires 600x600)
what is this for? Some campaign or something? looking cool! [editline]18th November 2011[/editline] also, I made a behance thingy www.behance.net/blackite theres nothing new in that, except maybe an old video I made. I haven't got around to do any work because I just don't feel like its going that great
haha thanks. I'm thinking of making something like the jellyfish one, instead of the usual stars. I also thought about giving animation a shot, try it out just to see what it feels like. Anybody want to try it?
