i actually like the grunge. very screen print-esque because the gunge on screen prints is usually very crisp and sharp. so it doesnt look old and worn, it just looks like a slightly shoddy screen print (not in a bad way)
The problem with your grunge is that it's only white. Where is the overlayed worn out effect that affects the whole poster?
there's nothing wrong with the one tone grunge, it's a little more realistic to be honest, it's just as if the ink has chipped away some rather than looking like it's been dragged through a sewer [editline]26th November 2011[/editline]
calling the equilibrium poster done. i will go and improve the wear and tear if i get time though. it came out a bit too fake looking. It's not a brick wall with paint that has been exposed to too much sun. Ink gets worn out and the colours get more washed out. Painting chips off. If you're going to use single-toned grunge then it should be toned down to only chip off the edges of things IMO.
here's my take on breba, just some ideas [editline]26th November 2011[/editline]
It's a poster, on paper, with ink. Well, yeah I guess if you're really bad at printscreening you can achieve that effect.

i really like the panterly textures
here's my take on breba, just some ideas [editline]26th November 2011[/editline] different methods of printing mate. a printscreen on thick card, that's what it's meant to look like. but with a sort of sloppy job, and some chipped ink.
Something about this poster bothers me, I don't like it a lot... The right ones colors bother me and the left has that first version feel where it's just missing something
hmmm i think it's the lack of any black in the middle buuuuuuut it will have to do, as i got one more poster to do after this one before tomorrow evening

I think it would look better without the dark boarder and if the ball was slightly bigger. I love Gantz!
I think it would look better without the dark boarder and if the ball was slightly bigger. I love Gantz!
I started off with the ball being bigger, but I decided that I wanted to try to capture the feeling of the ball sitting alone in the room when you first see it.
I don't watch the series, if he wears sunglasses then they could be coloured black
black meth? i tried putting on a real pair of sunglasses though but it didn't really work and they aren't the character's trademark per se so i'm just calling it done [t]http://i.imgur.com/gVh0W.png[/t] thanks for the help rusty <3 early mockup for the last poster too boring? should i find a way to get some color in there? [editline]27th November 2011[/editline] also, what kind of paper would one print these on? matte or glossy?
i reckon matte
screenprints are matte, they fit that style best
you should add a small amount of subtle grunge to the 'dead space' text, jens. it looks too clean compared to the rest of the poster imo
also i think it has far too little in it
that's what i'm kinda aiming for. the loneliness isaac clarke experiences in the game. how he's suffering but there's no one there to help. cut off from civilization. only him, the necromorphs, and the dark depths of space. [editline]27th November 2011[/editline] blood or no blood?
not too sure about the blood but if you want to keep it in i suggest you use some higher res brushes for the blood
that's what i'm kinda aiming for. the loneliness isaac clarke experiences in the game. how he's suffering but there's no one there to help. cut off from civilization. only him, the necromorphs, and the dark depths of space. [editline]27th November 2011[/editline] blood or no blood?
the blood is too blurry and looks bad also i know you have reasons behind the 'nothingness' of the poster but i dont think it works visually
that hand looks pretty weird Also, I don't really like the "grunge" thing. "Not sure if I've already seen too many in this thread and just got sick of it, or just because you could use something better. And yeah its pretty empty, and the blood is good on the title (better brushes though), but I'm not really digging it in the hand
i don't really like it. there's nothing original about it at all, and the actual elements are just whapped on there
is this any decent? [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/KillBilleth.jpg[/t] remade it to fit the other stuff a bit more, since i'll probably print them if my self-steem is high enough also the colors look disgusting because i have no idea of how to convert from cmyk actual color: [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Sem_titulo10.png[/t] [editline]27th November 2011[/editline] i know you hate it rusty
why is this still here :suicide:
Made a quick logo for a non-existent game store. I need CC. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/1c8hY.png[/img_thumb] [editline]27th November 2011[/editline]
theres nothing that says its a game store in here actually nothing makes sense
You're right. How's this?
Made a quick logo for a non-existent game store. I need CC. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/1c8hY.png[/img_thumb] [editline]27th November 2011[/editline] You're right. How's this?
honestly, that doesn't work at all. The gradient is horrible, and the stroke is unecessary. Unless its a D&D store, the font and dice should be changed to something that would attract any type of gamers/non-gamers. Look at the other gamestore logos
also don't stroke the text [editline]27th November 2011[/editline] whoops, sorry missed that bit D3TBS
It is a D&D/Wargaming store. Should I just completely change it or still go with that seeing it's a D&D/Wargaming store? [editline]27th November 2011[/editline] Also, suggestions are very much welcome too.
also, what kind of paper would one print these on? matte or glossy?
Glossy is preferable for photos or illustrations with lots of colour detail to them. Glossy or Silk paper brings out the details, but also gives a lot of shine. So obviously, when you are going for few colours and grunge, a glossy look doesn't exactly sound right now does it? Matt is preferable for classy things, when you want it to look exclusive or calm. Matt paper is bad on details but when you have few colours it is excellent and it really brings out the best of them. Not something you would want for a catalogue with lots of images (but of course, depends on the images), but for drawing books and illustrations with few colours.
