I can do without animation for now :v: I'll see if I can get my hands on a legit copy of Illustrator Game making?
You haven't heard of Flash games?
Oh, right
I'll see if I can get my hands on a legit copy of Illustrator
It also has actionscripting. Which can be used for other things than just game coding and scene changes. For example there is an illustrator that uses it to make random patterns out of one or several drawings spreading them all out over the canvas in different sizes and angles. Looks pretty nice. I'll look up his name, got him in a magazine. [editline]EDIT[/editline] Guilherme Marconi
I normally use photoshop for logos and ads, Quarkxpress for layouts and flash for animation. I rarely use illustrator. Need to fix that. Just a few things, I am too tired to upload a lot. (And just in case someone remembers: yes, some of this was made for people on Facepunch)
the topline one is really clever
All except Hyperion and Thrill are amazing. This should definitely be in the OP it's really good. Lots of symbols going on in there.
Cart Pusher is fucking genius.
This typography infographic may be of some use to people. Even if you're not looking to design something, it's a neat thing to look through.
That is brilliant :v: [editline]9th July 2011[/editline] also, do we have some form of font identification thread?
I like how the flowchart takes you all the way to the back and asks you if you're alone and then gives you comic sans :v:
i did this as a volunteer for my sister's soccer team, not the best but i think it turned out alright. mind the shitty phone picture.
oooh, completely missed this thread. well uhm, hello my name's autumn and i'm a graphic designer! (or... studying to be one anyway) i've just finished my 2nd year of university studying BA (Hons) Graphic Design and i'm about to go on a sandwich year down to London for a year in the industry! wahey. got some interviews lined up for the week after next... i'm quite scared. but also excited!
also, do we have some form of font identification thread?
http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ Like that?
http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ Like that?
I'm not needed one IDed, it's just I like IDing fonts
so uhm, what kind of thread are you after?
You can ask about fonts in here, I don't think that needs a dedicated thread.
That font chart. I saved you the hassle of writing down all the names. Even has CS: S.

Kmart, I checked out that website you posted and it's still a bit overwhelming. Where exactly should I start? I checked out their "guide to starting freelance" http://freelanceswitch.com/start/a-comprehensive-guide-to-starting-your-freelance-career/ and they posted some job boards... the one on their website has a monthly fee, and some of the others I checked out have clients that are asking for tons of experience and/or a degree, neither of which I happen to have. It's either that or they're trying to hire someone on to their team as their own graphic designer... or you have to live in the area... etc. Nothing else in the guide really applies to me at this point... since I don't have a job. Tried Craigslist as well and I have NO idea what to look for, I saw plenty of people advertising their services but I couldn't find anyone asking for anything aaaaaaaaaarghhh :C
Just a bunch of logos I did for a Graphic Design class. They are not that great, and mostly terrible compared to the ones in this thread, but I put some effort into them. In fact I was one of the only people in the class that actually had some artistic experience ahead of time, besides the instructor who was a Graphic Designer himself until he decided to teach.:v: A fake poster for that exact same class. And, something I whipped up in a few minuets. The final project, a magazine article for Latin Jazz. Feel free to tell me what I did wrong/right with some of these, because I am trying to get better at this and I need someone with an honest opinion to judge my work. I will probably post more later That was most of the highlights of my class, even though I did skip a lot. Next year I am going into a school program called Pathways where you can focus on anything you like, and do projects that incorporate the High School curricular into it. Basically you can make your own schedule, and do whatever you want to as long as one of the instructors knows where you are. Than you get assigned a person who is considered knowledgeable enough in that field of study to be able to instruct you on how to be better at what you are doing. This is basically a win-win situation for me, sense I don't have to go through another year of High School yet I am still getting the credits I need to graduate . What is your input on this?
It's very overdone, too many effects and poor font choice
It's very overdone, too many effects and poor font choice
Can you be a little more specific on what one you are referring to? Also, we did not have access to other fonts because the font download sites were all blocked.
The HR logo and World Water Ad in particular have way too much shadow/glow
