thats pretty cool, how is architecture?
Well, at our school the first 4 years of the program are considered "environmental design," so it isn't focused on simply designing buildings or landscapes, etc even though in year 3 and 4 you enter one of three streams (architecture, landscape and urbanism, and interior). It is pretty fun, and very different from standard school. All around it is a very good faculty to go to for a general design career, my plan right now is to get my bachelors in environmental design and use that with my branding experience. For us we get a few projects a semester and we do drafts, drawings, models, artwork, pinhole cameras, all sorts of stuff. It's a fun learning experience. (very busy though)

So as you can tell, we don't do terribly much with buildings yet. Last year I wrote an essay on postmodernity in bladerunner, and built a hanging table for Isaac Newton.
Also last thing before I shut up:
My logo for faculty wear won!

that logo is pretty nice, you totally deserve it. I am thinking of studying architecture here in Munich. People say there's a lot of maths and everything involved, so I hope I like it. I would go for design too, but I guess I can leave that for later. I already learned a few things from what I've been doing so far.
Also, how did you get coloured photos from pinholes? :v: I did that a few times, with a shoebox and they all came black and white
Dad requested a simple logo made over this weekend, nothing fancy and not a lot of work put into it since he knows I'm doing my exams and such. So he wanted a logo for "Hoods investments", Hood as in Robin Hood, which I very much assume has something to do with the musical he is practicing for which is a modernization of Robin Hood.
So, he simply wanted Robin Hood's hat leaning on the H and preferably have the whole thing carved/made out of tree or stone. Personally I think that could be a bit much, but I'll see how he reacts to this suggestion first, so if he still wants it in stone/tree, then so be it.

I tried making the circles into targets, but it became a bit well much, and I feel the hat has just the right amount of colour for the logo, add more and it's just overkill.
the first one
So what do you suggest changing? All crisp or all smudged shapes?
What is so bad after all if I want to make a statement that on this page that there are two basically things things on this page?
This should act as the starter page from where you go on different pages.
I get what you're after, but the composition doesn't have unity. You can have contrasting elements, but if they aren't unified enough they just won't look good.
I have been doing graphics design for about 2 years ... I freelance myself over the web when i have free time.
I would really like all your CnC and feedback on some of my work, where i can improve. I haven't done too much Logo design and would like too,
but after using photoshop so long i find illustrator confusing... Help. o_o

Well, I'm not sure about that. Are you sure you were using colour film?

That's kind of a dumb thing to do, since you can pirate it I mean. It's not like you can exchange the games for money.
On the other hand you could probably manage to sell the account on the black market. But it would be quite risky to all this for digital game files and an account name.
Lmao. Guys you were meant to comment on my Steamcalculator.com design... Not be advertised by it. ;]

Obviously your design is so good we had to check the site out.
didn't know about that, I just used what our teacher bought us
if you were doing pinhole camera stuff then i imagine you were just using the photographic paper, and developing it straight into the trays from there, rather than developing the film then using the enlarger etc.
the reason your photos are black and white is because the photographic paper you used was black and white. colour photographic paper is a) a lot more expensive b) more sensitive to light than B&W paper, that's why it's generally used in pinhole cameras as opposed to colour
[editline]11th December 2011[/editline]
and if you were using film then it would have been a black and white film
you either shoot in B&W or you shoot in colour, and you develop it and gets your prints the same (unless you want to go all crazy with cross processing or whatever)
I see, didn't know about those things really haha. We just made some pinhole shoeboxes and used photographic paper and then developed those in our "photo lab", which was just our usual classroom but completely sealed from light. One day our red lights broke, so we had to do everything in complete darkness

Stealing and lazy inspiration are 2 different things. ;]
Hey, I was wondering if I could get a little help finishing my logo.
It would seem that half of the people who see the logo can't tell that the thing on the left is a mugshot of a bunny. I think that if I add ears, it will become obvious. The problem i'm having is that i can't figure out how to add ears to the rabbit and keep it looking good. the mugshot is based off of a picture i took of my pet bunny, and in the picture, her ears were back so that you can't see them. Also, since the rest of the face is so realistic in proportions, i'd like to keep the ears realistic too.
Here's a file containing the .svg, .png, and original photo:

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

well cool, thanks. however, while this does look good at first glance, further study shows that it would require the bunny to have a rather deformed and twisted head, due to their positioning and angle. i was thinking something more straight on.
still not sure about this one.

the second one, and yes. although, it could look better if it had just a tiny bit of shadowing along the edges of some or most of the shapes

you mean like a drop shadow on the mountains? i tried that, it was ok but i preferred it all being flat colours.
I like the first one with the smooth dip in the middle better: the other one
looks a biut messy to me
So I'm designing a poster for a show, and I need put a few things on it (bands playing, time, door charge) but I'm new to designing (I've taken classes in photoshop, I'm just new to creative design, and coming up with things) and I cant find a neat way to layout text of various sizes and make it look organized.
The poster wont be printed so any aspect ratio is fine, but does anyone have good examples of posters for events that have only text/shapes?

Well, in the highlights of this thread we have a very fine example of a poster for a music show
