Depends what level of work you are doing. It isn't uncommon to net several thousand from a website for some people. A lot of logos go for 600 - 800 that I have seen.
I personally make about ooooohh.. 0 - 100$ on mine because I don't ask for any money because it puts too much pressure on me, makes fun into work, and ultimately my product suffers, but if I was seriously going into business I would definitely change my model.

Where do you get in contact with your clients?
The price of a logo has several factors to it.
First of all is the most obvious one. How much you need to earn per hour to live with it. So first of all the amount of time you spend on planning and making the logo will factor in on the price.
Second of all is who the customer is. Is it just one shop or is it a big business with banners, flags and signs all over the place? What is their budget? If they intendt to spend 500,000$ to swap out all the banners, flags and signs then you're probably dumb if you sell them a logo for 5000$, that's basically a freebie for a company of that size.
Third of all, do you know them personally or not? Maybe give them a friendly discount?
Remember this?

I decided to make an alternate:

I've seen you version before, not here though.

I really need a free version/ alternative to the font nimbus sans novus bold. it's for school work and I need a font that looks as close to nimbus as possible. If any of you know of any that would be great
I saw it badly done, so I wanted to give it a go so I could use it as a wallpaper.
Oh and for finding fonts:
www.whatfontis.com
and just check to find only free fonts. Then it will find similar fonts to what you upload
Where do you get in contact with your clients?
I don't personally because I just do it as a hobby and take what comes to me, usually online commissions. You will maybe have seen that I have done a lot of stuff for people on facepunch.
If I was going to get contacts I would make business cards, make an online portfolio, and then I would put up ads locally and also online ads to attract more distant clients.
I might also think about approaching certain local businesses and offering them a highly discounted service in return for their support: they could suggest you to friends, maybe let you put business cards there or an ad.
(Of course I have never done this professionally, this is all speculation, but from some people that I know who do it, it seems like people eventually find you no matter how little advertising you do. That is why I would suggest doing a lot to get LOTS of people and then you can pick and choose maybe.)

So, exactly what did you do?
Because I've seen both versions floating around, just not in widescreen format.
So, you made them wallpaper sized, or did you make them or what?

Looks verry messy, the different text sizes don't flow and the background is a bit of an eyesore and clashes with the rest of it.

No I made the bottom one from scratch.
I'm sure you didn't see that exact one.
I made the top one into widescreen tho. And nothing more.

Yeah I am still pretty much learning composition. I find it extremely hard to position things, just by looking at it and kind of going with it. I'm used to working with guidelines
I will use it for my future game, Deluma.

Oh, and I'm thinking in put some little glowing stones over it.

Ah, ok, found it.

Why didn't you make yours hi-quality? I don't see the reason to have a widescreen upscaled blurry looking image for a wallpaper, or anything.
But writing a song is within creating art
I did this poster design for a friends' moms' band a while ago, and look what they did with it:

Not the best pictures but I am like, so proud.
Tried making a logo of sorts.

-snip- screw that eco design one, it's shit.
Futura is such a classy font.
Here's a logo I made for my YouTube channel, by the way

I reckon Really Autismal People would be a more fitting name for the creators of Teleported into Minecraft

Isn't this "The Facepunch Graphic Design Thread"? Aren't you supposed to post these kinds of things?
Hi guys,
here is a small WIP of a Personal Logo i whipped up in Illustrator, do you guys have any advice as to where to go from here?

Someone posted that on Iwastesomuchtine.com just a heads up.

It isn't too bad, but I have no idea why:
1) Sean is in the C
2) the A in Sean is cut off
3) the hexagon is sticking out there.
I would make the OLEMAN farther from the C, and I might increase the amount of negative space as well. Maybe find some way to make the C more recognizable as a C, I thought it was an O for a while.

Too. much. noise.
Seriously, if you're gonna use noise tone it down so that it's barely noticeable, otherwise it looks like a cheap rug.

On another note, I finished the homepage for FTPbox, an app a fellow Facepuncher is developing with my sporadic help (I just help him with whatever has to do with design, the logo and the webpage, and also technical support in spanish)

That's a hideous orange colour.
You should really make it in the colour of an actual box or in a colour that harmonically combines with the blue. Because right now everything is ruined by this grossly muddy orange-brown colour.
i think both colors are too overwhelming
The headlines in those bannerlike things, you should move the text down a bit so they don't look so top heavy

C&C Very welcome, it's my simple resumé/portfolio thing that I'm working on. Would love to have some real opinions on this, as all my friends are non-designer assholes :)
Not related to the design; After Effects: 25% and Flash 50% is going to scare away Flash and After Effects customers.
yeah you would never ever say that
just say you can use photoshop flash and after affects
Can anyone point me in the right direction for how to make an image like the one below bigger?

I don't mean using some kind of resizing technique unless that would work, more like getting the edges and scaling them up, then recreating the image larger.
