Can anyone point me in the right direction for how to make an image like the one below bigger? I don't mean using some kind of resizing technique unless that would work, more like getting the edges and scaling them up, then recreating the image larger.
vectorize it in illustrator
I don't mean using some kind of resizing technique unless that would work, more like getting the edges and scaling them up
uhm, "getting the edges and scaling them up" would be resizing... my advice is to get into Illustrator and get tracing, but don't use Live Trace
Thanks guys/girls, I'll give it a go. Yeah sorry about that Autumn, was confusing myself the more I wrote, should have stopped. Edit: Oh jeez, I thought I'd give live trace a quick go because it's late and it seemed like a simple picture. How wrong I was, it bent practically every line and made circles into not-circles, even playing with the presets did nothing, I'll start using the pen tool to do it tomorrow.
Hey clever people, Friend who works at Palgrave MacMillan passed this along to me -opportunity to get some exposure/practise: http://www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2012/january/bfi-film-classic-comp
Sup. I'v been working on this Intro for a channel i'll be doing on twitch.tv soon. There's still alot to prepare ase of when the first show gonna happen but iv just finished this intro for it and i'm not quite satisfied with it, but i'v hit a wall and i need some feedback to know which way i should lead to now here's the link since twitch.tv doesnt show in media tag: http://www.twitch.tv/mr_big90/b/306159959 now don't mind the noise at the start iv forgot to mute my mic since i just broadcasted the whole thing because the file itself is 5gig. Now i would like ANY sort of feedback, i had to learn Cinema4d, After Efect and sony Vegas Pro to make it, i didn't use any template, all was made from scratch.

If it was more complicated then maybe not. Still, it's simple enough that it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to do a regular trace either I guess.

live trace is the worst thing ever ever
it is, i don't think i've used it where it gave a good result
it can have a limited use if you're looking to get the rough shape of something, and then clean up the lines yourself but yeah, generally it's useless
ive never used live trace
same really, except maybe when i first started
i used bitmap trace in flash once it sucked so then i didnt do that again
Here's a logo I'm working on for a guy on here that started one of those PC game key websites. Not much to it but I'm fairly new to this stuff.
it's pretty good if you're just starting out but the position of the cog/controller seems weirdly placed
it's pretty good if you're just starting out but the position of the cog/controller seems weirdly placed
I agree with you but I'm not really sure about what to do with it myself. Any suggestions?
I agree with you but I'm not really sure about what to do with it myself. Any suggestions?
how about tilting it less?
no i quite like the tilt, a good 45 degree
I think the text on the bottom is what's bothering me, but I'm not sure what can you do about it..
I might increase the size of the cogs slightly, so the top one is in the position of a typical d-pad. I like them enough how they are though, the biggest cog forms an invisible line with the top of the subtext.
It's also kind of weird using an Xbox controller for a PC game keys website.

Here's what it looks like with a website around it: http://gametechdeals.co.uk/
The controller seems like a giant block giving heavy weight to the right side of the logo. You could try to make the controller smaller or bring it more in line with the text to give the logo a more rectangle form.

My suggestion would be to make GAME bolder than TECH rather than what you have right now. After all the GAME is more important in context anyways, and it would add some wait to the left side.

It is heavily right balanced which doesn't make sense since the first place we look is to the left, so it crashes. I also feel like the controller is slightly too high, but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to lower it (and cut the bottom part that goes beyond the subtext) either.
I designed a logo based on the idea of merging the word "Drops" and the symbol of infinity:
it's a nice idea, but i'd try experimenting a with a few more fonts than just helvetica, until you find something more fitting
i like the 3rd the first too are too saturated, and the last is too washed out
Eh, I'd personally go for the second one, but it's certainly too saturated. So some in-between place of the second and third would be perfect. Not quite puke-yellow, not quite greengreen.
3rd is best
