Here's a logo I'm working on for a guy on here that started one of those PC game key websites. Not much to it but I'm fairly new to this stuff.
3 things: 1) Why did you choose two different reds that almost look the same? 2) The top of the logo is cut off on the website. 3) The bottom text is black, right? Maybe make it more dark gray instead of 100% black. There's almost no black on the website too. A couple of ideas (I hope you don't mind, Meller Yeller) 1) The original as Meller Yeller made it: 2) All red like the red from the text, and dark gray bottom text instead of black: 3) All red like the red from the controller, and dark gray bottom text instead of black:
i think the bottom one looks washed out.
i think the bottom one looks washed out.
Updated my post with another version.
Thanks for the logo and suggestions on how to improve the site Oicani Gonzales. https://www.elpishost.com/ Anyone have any idea on what I should replace the border around the three huge images with in the middle? The green looks a little out of place on them.
i tried it and it looked horrible. live trace doesn't do well with angular stuff. smooth shapes it can just about deal with, but type or anything with flat edges and corners doesn't work.
I never managed to get it done, gave up after I got it to 2976x2976 using a resizing tool that gave it slight blurred edges then finding out from lucky that the image needed to be 300 DPI to go on a t-shirt. Plus I borrowed illustrator and then it stopped working, fair enough. Edit: We have illustrator on school computers actually, gave it a try on there, half the tools don't work.. like the pen tool. Have a 969x969 because it's a 33mb TIF file and I couldn't host the actual image anywhere [t]http://img.techpowerup.org/120125/Capture114666.png[/t]
Looks bad When something is simple and 1 colour, a trick I use is to scale the image as high as you want it, run a threshold filter over it, combine the layers. remove the background colour in blending options, make new layer, combine. gaussian blur it until the jaggedness looks gone. then run a smart sharpen filter on it, adjust to desired effect. to get rid of weird discoloration on edges, use colour overlay blending option. it's not perfect, but for some things it gives very good results (the threshold step or the blurring step can be taking out depending on what works best for your image)
Is this any good? This is my second ever logo/vector that I've made. made in Flash. (going to read through this thread for tips soon)

i think the perspective on the cube is a little off, it seems to get dragged down too much in the middle
i dunno, it feels like you could have made the cube into any two letters. it doesnt feel unique to the branding. maybe that doesnt make sense. i dunno its just the feeling i get when i see it. it feels very interchangeable

(going to read through this thread for tips soon)
Try and make the "Textures" fit in with the logo more, it looks out of place, also you need to decide, Is the gap in the C going to be empty like the G or not, because they both have to be consistent
I'm making a poster for this event at school: what do you guys think? I think a bit of colour could spice it up but I'm not sure how to get it in without looking tacky
Can anyone recommend me alternatives for this font? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIN_1451#DIN_1451_Pro_W1G_MittelSchrift It's beautiful but not free. :(
http://www.dafont.com/bebas.font This close?

The thing is though, none of your shapes are very smooth and your bird images are just really rough versions of the old Atlanta Falcons logo. I would just totally get rid of the falcons either way.
It's the school logo and it's got to be included. (Fitch Falcons.)
Well your school's logo is just an old version of the Atlanta Falcons logo and it bugs me. Regardless, I think they're distracting and kind of get in the way so I would think about just having one small bird maybe inside the gear or something. Also your shapes should really just be smoother. I don't know if you have any vector graphics programs like Illustrator or Flash, but this could be more easily achieved if the gear and wrench were vectors.
Also spelt business wrong on the logo

Any good surrogates you might suggest?
Also spelt business wrong on the logo
shit.

Suggestions, here? I feel like there's a lot of empty space in the top-left bit of the red field, but I can't think of any way to put it to use yet. I was going to use a star, as the colors are based on the Texan flag, but I already used one for the event location.
If you are doing it like that I think you need to make the silhouette of the soldier clearer. His bag can be interpreted as a cape.
