damn, now that you've posted that the logo looks stupid with the swirl haha.
This
but I would move the boards down a bit so they are more in line with the text
[t]http://i53.tinypic.com/hrndwp.png[/t]
Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. Don't stroke. If you're going to use stroking, use it so it's actually visible. Not this thin piece of shit that just makes it look low quality, amateruishly drawn and badly done. Remove the stroke and BAM the shapes are visible, strong, crisp and delicate. Imagine what that text would look like if it had that thin stroke to it. It would look like shit.
This
Very poor composition here. The logo elements are completely distinguished from the company name. They're supposed to go hand in hand and work as stand-alone elements, not be two completely different things. Placing the logo in the corner of a piece of paper or on a poster or basically anything would be terrible because it's extremely wide, and you can't turn it around either. Imagine how it would be to put that logo on a Business Card. I also think the carpets look ugly, they are slightly skewed but not much, they go above the height of the text, but again not by that much and despite being so overall big they really serve no visual message other than "we're rectangles representing carpets". I would work on finding some better symbolism for carpenting, something that sums it all up better, something in the process, a tool they use or typical forms they see or make, not just the end result, the end result is boring, it's a carpet. What makes carpets interesting? Maybe their patterns? If you absolutely want to use carpets then give them some subtle, simple and nice detail so it at least makes sense.

How would I go about getting a vector drawn in flash into illustrator?
actually snip

I don't mean literally seen that design it's just the sort of boring play on letters that's been done before.

But he gave the SD logo a 4/5 stars which spawned a fuckton of copycats and now it's down to my logo, some other SD logo in serifs instead boxed in with a red gradient and one other with a big buy and two smaller ones on it's sides. I tried trying to come up with something that could represent leadership, but it would be all just as bland with just some business tie our people circling around another guy. I've also tried seeing if I could combine anything business related to the SD logo, but I really just can't come up with any way to incorporate that without removing the readability of the initials. I feel like it lacks substance, but I just can't come up with anything that I can add to it without ruining it. So I'm probably gonna lose to that other SD guy.
looks just like the samsung logo yo
Uh, what the hell? They both contain text and a skewed circle. Wow. The message and look isn't completely different at all.
I did this: https://www.elpishost.com/ It was my first attempt at that ever, but me and the client were both satisfied. Where did I do good and where did I fuck up
The design is nice, but when I go to 'Sales' and then back to 'Home', I get a different Home. [editline]29th February 2012[/editline] and I'd make the logo clickable.
Long time no post, how's this looking? [thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25318683/logo%20%282%29.jpg[/thumb]
Very busy. I'd remove the things protruding from the side, or at least the yellow things next to the red things. I'd also try to replace the yellow with some other colours, e.g. green.
Made some bubbled avatar templates for Facepunchers to enjoy! Feel free to customize it. theyre pretty bad, in a 'my first photoshop web2.0 edition'. theyre literally just a really bad primary colour gradient and a one toned shine. try some nicer colours, try a gradient in the gloss, try circular edges. or better yet, move on from that style, its pretty bland. (asshole post soz dont take it the wrong way)

Yeah, glossy fell out of fashion right when LG started using that style in all their ads :v:
Can anyone help me with this?
does flash save as smart objects?
Hi, trying to get into graphic design, mostly for a course I'm doing.. What software do you guy's use? It would be more difficult to try and do every aspect with just Photoshop since other Adobe programs like Illustrator and InDesign have their place as well. If you're a student, you should be able to get a good discount on Adobe's entire design related set of software. As in around $300 that is.
Hi, trying to get into graphic design, mostly for a course I'm doing.. What software do you guy's use? Illustrator - Vector shapes for things like logos, graphical elements and anything that needs to be vectored for the one reason or another. Photoshop - Editing and/or manipulating photos and images. Most versatile to use for posters, if the poster is going to have a photo in it or heavily edited text, otherwise Illustrator is better. Flash - Making animated things like ad banners. Can also be used for web-design but should be avoided if there isn't a very specific reason for it. (can also be used as a substitute for Illustrator if you prefer it) Dreamweaver - To code the basics for websites, getting your shit on the net so you can not only make the webdesign but also see it functioning. Not a necessary program or knowledge for Graphic Designers, but useful to know what they have to deal with so you can adjust yourself to a web-coders needs. After Effects - To make motion-graphics, useful if you're going to work on animated design for TV or need animation in a commercial poster (screen posters). Not necessary to know.
Fireworks is also handy for quick prototyping of web and application intefaces
