Should I continue with this design?
i'm not sure, there's nothing that seems unique or inspiring about the design also looks like you've live traced the photo instead of manually making the stencil
also looks like you've live traced the photo instead of manually making the stencil
That's why I asked if it's even worth continuing. I guess you're right.
they're to do with the spacing between letters. kerning is involving the space between single letters in a word, whereas tracking involves the whole word (or paragraph) giving the title some space to breathe would be a good start. ... if i'm honest there's not a lot about it i wouldn't change, but those are my 2 cents on how some improvements could be made
Thanks, that is really helpful :) I'll leave your thread be and come back some other time when I think I have some improvement. Thanks guys :)
Had to redesign an identity for a real fashion label/brand we picked at random. I got Alpha 60. It wasn't allowed to be in the same format as the current one (couldn't be a full type logo if the existing one already was) We needed to come up with 2 alternate solutions. Decided to take the 'A' from the existing logo and make it the focus and take it in a different direction.
I would do lines in illustrator / flash, and import / paste into photoshop, because the pen tool in photoshop is a bitch.
Am I the only one that finds the pen tool in photoshop superior to Illustrator? I can do everything in Photoshop while illustrator seems to slow me done severely.
once you get used to using the pen tool in illustrator you'll see how it is superior. when i first started in illustrator i struggled, but now going back to photoshop is a real drag
I don't have problems using either pen tool. I don't even know what difference you are talking about.
Illustrator is odd. It seemed annoying and I hated it at first until I had to take the time to actually learn and get used to it. Now it's probably my favorite software to use.
Starting in any Adobe program is frustrating as hell. Especially After Effects.
i only had that program to make kamehamehas :v:
i take it you guys have never used anything like 3dsmax
i take it you guys have never used anything like 3dsmax
3dsMax was a breeze, Blender is where the frustration is.
i take it you guys have never used anything like 3dsmax
I took one look for 3 minutes and then I quit.

this combination of sharp lines and paint strokes is a p neat approach, good job
thoughts?
the x and c look kinda confusing, I wouldn't have known the letters if it didn't say it below
I've never really done design, but I had an idea in my head and at least wanted to try and do it.
thoughts?
i don't get where the 'A' is, and yeah it's a bit unreadable i really like the style though
http://i.imgur.com/VDxHH.png thoughts?
I thought it said "Troxc", until I read what it said below.
I've never really done design, but I had an idea in my head and at least wanted to try and do it.
Overall, I like it, nice oldish European style to it.

It makes it bit harder to read and it becomes less eye catching. But I like the simple design style and the layout.
I agree that the main issues lie in the color choices. Also the title doesn't look centered.
Website is just about done (Just barely finished it tonight, that's why there are only 3 logos right now): http://www.kenoncreative.com Quite a few tweaks to do yet: -Resize / Reposition Kenon logo -Gonna change-up and finalize the text -Gonna add small labels that say About / Contact beside the paragraphs to increase the visual seperation of the paragraphs and allow quick navigation of it. - Adding more of my work of course - Adding tabs to change the category of the portfolio being displayed (logos / print / etc.) I've never been a web-designer really, so that was part of the motivation to make a simple web-site, it is also the reason some stuff may be pretty remedial.
whats with all the words jumping out i dont like that
whats with all the words jumping out i dont like that
Ya, I'm gonna figure out a different way to emphasize that stuff.
From a project at school It should look like as if the heart has speakers in it. It symbolizes that you "shape" your heart using music, sorta. [editline]30th June 2012[/editline] oh and jpeg compression rape for the first image, sorry about that
i don't like the dashed lines, they feel too 'STICKER GOES HERE' or 'CUT ALONG HERE' rather than actually giving something a border. [editline]30th June 2012[/editline] i just wanna take some scissors and cut all that shit out
Yeah, I totally agree. [editline]30th June 2012[/editline] We should add useful links to the OP. Websites such as www.fontsquirrel.com, www.colorschemedesigner.com and www.whatthefont.com are extremely useful
So I've been trying to make a good logo for my school's student council. We used to have this; I like to keep things simple, and made these in a few minutes; Not only looking for C&C but also for improvements or completely new ideas for a logo. PS: 'LR' stands for 'Leerlingenraad', which is Student Council in Dutch.
