JG G36C if you can happen to find one. Might shoot a little hot for CQB when it's stock.
JG G36C if you can happen to find one. Might shoot a little hot for CQB when it's stock.
I've not found any reputable dealer with the JG, but I have found SRC, or is that not a good manufacturer?
the SRC is just as good if not better, just a bit more expensive.
hit and miss, mostly miss if you can't find a JG G36 internally and if you lack the UKARA to import one from china then i'd suggest getting one of the G&G combat machines for good budget cqb shenanigans. also stay the hell away from wolf armouries I know they're local but they're overpriced in comparison to actionhobbies, airsoft world or land warrior airosft.
I was looking at the CM's, but I'm not fond of plastic where metal should be, I know it's not an end-of-world thing but it's just a thing that bugs me. The SRC's £15 more than the JG, and a few reviews I read have said that the externals are of higher quality than the JG. UKARA's not an issue, apparently owning a RIF without a license isn't a felony, neither is receiving one as a gift. "Oh, I owe my friend with a UKARA license some money. No officer I don't know why it's the same cost as a RIF I just received as a gift from him."
The CM is great poly. Its the most solid gun ive held and I've owned and fondled many many full metal guns.

Check on airsoft world they're ranging from £160-£200 for metal body M4s, the poly version however is also pretty sturdy and you can save a fair few opting for it. Don't piss around with UKARA though as I know alot of guys who do the same thing either because they're underage (damn kids) or can't be bothered to rent out a gun for 3 games. 90% of the time it works getting a friend to buy it for you but on the off chance there's ever a problem with it, a police officer for some reason finds you with it while not airsofting etc. etc. you'll be questioned about it and it could lead to complications. UKARA is free, no reason why anybody shouldn't jump all over it.
Well, in that case I could always just go the wolf armouries route of them holding the rif until I've done 3 games at their CQC area. The £10-20 extra I spend buying from WA is better than the £70+ I'd spend on rentals, on top of the actual cost of attending the venue.
If they'll do that for you then I'd highly reccomend it. Not to mention the Bunker is a great arena, went there a few months ago it was pretty good fun.
Alrighty then, thanks for the help. Bugger, the WA SRC G36c is a Gen 2, not a Gen 3.
Would this gun be any good? It's bloody cheap so I am rather skeptical. If not, can anyone recommend a decent AKS-74, preferrably steel, with real wood, for £250 or under? A UK based distributor would be a big plus. http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/AEG_AEP_APS_APS_AK74S_Real_Wood_Electric_Blowback_AEG.htm
Your best bet is to try to find a LCT or VFC AK. Those are all steel. I have a LCT AKM on the way, so look into those. [editline]24th March 2013[/editline] I don't know what the prices for those are over there, but if you can't find those in your price range your best bet is to find a DBoys in full steel, but those are elusive.

get a CYMA, they've got metal bodies, pretty decent build quality and I love my aks-74. You'll save yourself a fair amount of money since you're that tight a budget.

You might be able to find one second hand. Otherwise, order from overseas or compromise and get one of the M variants.

[editline]24th March 2013[/editline] Ah I see.
I've managed to track down a dboys AKS-74, the site says it's a VFC clone, and for about £200 shipped, I think it's probably the best deal I'm going to get. One small thing that irks me, though, is the handguards. They don't look quite right for the look I'm going for, as they seem to be missing the little vents(?) on the sides. It's just a little peeve I have, and it's not really that important, but it would be nice to know if there is a cost effective way to get around it. A picture (of a normal AK-74, but whatever), to illustrate what I mean: [IMG_THUMB]http://filesmelt.com/dl/ak741.jpg[/IMG_THUMB]
what model number is it
An RK-03S, apparently, if thats what you mean.
that's full steel good to go and not all '74s had those holes (1984 izhmash production '74, pic from tantal)
if it really bothers you, just dremel them out a little
Excellente, I shall be finalising my purchase ASAP. Super-soviet Mcafghanman here I come. One last thing, what should I be expecting to pay for a box of MAG AK-74 bakelite style midcaps?
$40-50
red wolf do a fair deal on them, although postage is a bit of a bitch.
I've found a place where I can get a box of five for ~£30, seems fair to me, but if there is anywhere cheaper, I'm all ears. At a budget of £250-£280 maximum for the gun and kit, I'm trying to get the best deal on everything.
So for my 'Nam shit I am going to pick up a CYMA M14 with the fake wood stock. Where is the best place to pick one up? ASGI is out of stock indefinitely.
