I used to think everyone except me was a Robot.
I used to think it was like reverse Toy Story when I was a kid, where everything would exist in whatever place I was in, but as soon as I left that place, it would all be gone until I revisited it.
I thought I was deeeeep.
you are all wrong

everything is not real
everything is fictional when you're part of a production of your imagination
everything is not real
when you live in your dream

Why yes, if you had a Universe of legos and shook them long enough for a self-replicating lego to emerge and propogate... then that's exactly what we think happened.
Of course, the result wouldn't be a helicopter, unless that helicopter has a brain and sexual organs.

If you want to exist in the world you see, though, you'll have to assume a few things.
Mostly this is true.
you will never have thoughts of someone else in your head.
If you die, you don't know what happens and the universe ends with you because you can't feel anything past that point(yet proven though).
You are a little-little slug suspended in the void, the result of a single brilliant moment of cosmic creation. You have no end. If you die - it's simply the end of one thought and the beginning of another. All your life as you experience it, all the decades you live - a single electric charge passing through your synapses. As it goes, the years pass, you experience the created masterpiece bit by bit, and then it ends, falls apart and gets forgotten. New impulse begins to flow, new world, new masterpiece to explore. You are the architect and the demolisher of the worlds, universes, multiverses, creator of billions of concepts, religions, philosophies, genius ideas and inventions very existence and work of which is based on the laws of nature that you have imagined and made true.
You are actually god.

The piece used to hold the rotor that lets it spin looks like k'nex instead of lego
That 44 second video destroyed my Atheism and I now believe.
He is obviously an atheist trying to make Islamists look bad

You gotta admit Islamic music is really nice to the ears. Anyone know where to find that song?

Even if this was true, why would it change anything?
We can't help that we're alive and we can't know what/if anything happens afterwards. It's pointless to think about things like "what happens after we die?" or "Is anything real" because ultimately we aren't capable of finding answers to them.

Easy there, lad

Okay now shake that bag of lego for 13.8 billion years and tell me that you don't end up with something
Okay, it may not be a helicopter, but that just means it's unpredictable, and the world we see today is just one of many possibilities, in the same way that if you got two people to shake bags of lego for 13.8 billion years, they'd both end up with completely different stuff
Sounds like something one of the robots would say.
What if we're all the robots?
It's a real philosophical thing
The fact that everyone experiences this sometimes

proves that we all are a bit solipsistic(is that the word?) sometimes.
-what-
My opinion is that nature throws random things together by chance and creates something random in itself. It's only our thinking and ideas that really creates something like a helicopter and the things we use.
For example, by chance, someone came across the process of making plastic from something nature had thrown together originally - http://curiosity.discovery.com/question/who-invented-plastic. Then, someone by chance created the LEGO company to create little plastic connectable blocks for kids to play with.
And now we come to this video where, by chance, they decided to use LEGO pieces and the magic of editing to create a plastic helicopter by shaking a bag. It is a game of chances over a long period of time, not in an instance.
Nature didn't suddenly decide to have a shake one day with all it's metal ores, etc to randomly create a helicopter.. It was us who made that decision to make use of these resources to build a helicopter (just like they had to build the plastic helicopter in between shots in the video).
except this doesn't just "debunk" atheism, it "debunks" any religious belief which is compatible with modern science
turns out atheists aren't the only people who believe well-evidenced things
Dude that lego helicopter is awesome where can I get it
Wait is the video satire or not, i'm not sure.
Shake the sack long enough and something will come out eventually.

i don't wanna be a prick but even if you shook it for 13.8 billion years, it'd probably still just be a jumble of pieces (if not a torn bag), because the agitation of the bag's contents isn't perfectly random
i don't remember the right terminology to explain it properly, but in a system that would perpetuate to infinity, you can't actually guarantee that every possible event will occur because of the system's naturally restrictive parameters from the start (like friction). another example is clothes in an infinite tumble dryer; there's no guarantee that at any moment in an infinite amount of time, you could open the door and find the clothes neatly folded on top of each other. it's improbable because the clothes have no reason to be folded while they're spinning around, and the way they rearrange themselves inside the drum isn't random, it's based on how they spin
i'm sure one of the more sciency mods could explain it loads better, i'm not very learned in the physics of infinity
