Depending on where you live you should be a bit careful at the late hours. You'll see chavs drinking on the street/local park and just wandering around town and if you give them a wrong look or insult them you could be in trouble even if you've done nothing wrong, they never fight on their own.
and they're more likely to approach people who are 'not from around here'/black/white/asian/ginger/northern/southern/pretty much anything.
just stay away from them as best you can and if they do try to start a fight with you just walk away, some of them can be really nasty and it's not worth dealing with them.
Another thing is if you fight back and somehow beat the fuck out of one of them, they'll bring back more people to do the same for you. Bare in mind this is the place you're living in and these people will be looking to kick you in.
I would move to England definitely, Scotland is full of racists and discriminative people who when they hear a different accent will look at you weirdly. If you get threatened by someone in Scotland, take the bastard outside they are all talk up here, everyone I know has never had a fight in their life and have admitted they are all talk as well. In England we get shit done, we have more than 100 troops (No danger from commies), we have many theme parks, cheap booze and fresh fish and chips. Nothing like the shitty fish and chips in Scotland, it's all been frozen for about 3 years before they serve it.
Moving to Scotland is the number 1 regret in my life, I have been put under so much pressure to not sound/act English and to use their words, pretend I am not in love with my country and it's history because if I didn't I would be an outcast and would never be appreciated by any of the people up here.
The second I have the chance to get out of here and live a [b]normal[/b] life the better, sometimes I wish we just slaughtered all of the Scottish when we had the chance because they have had this gigantic chip on their shoulder ever since.
Not trolling or anything but for 13 years of my life I have been treated by shit by the Scottish it is really the worst place to live in the world, I would rather live in PRK than here.
