I love this country for the Fish n Chips, but my stupid ass sister won't go on the bike down the promenade (yes I'm in Blackpool) when it's lightly raining (I like the rain sometimes :saddowns:) God damnit.
You need your sister to go out?
I love the rain. As long as it's not sideways/that really horrible kind of rain that's freezing cold it's really refreshing and quite peaceful. And the atmosphere when you walk outside after it's been raining is nice, too.
South of England is full of dispicable tosspots. North of England is full of fantastic people who are probably the greatest people on the face of the planet. Move to Yorkshire.
I don't live in England, but I'd like to live there one day. However I have a phobia for planes, so that's not happening anytime soon, it would seem :saddowns:
OP, you must memorise everything on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminology_of_the_British_Isles People get extremely offended if you mix them up. British Isles != British Islands Britain != England Ireland != Republic of Ireland
To be fair much of the US has far colder winters than Britain
Wooden houses have a hard time in the UK because it's perfect condition for rots and bugs

More likely to be kicked to death by a donkey or killed by a meteor than dying on a plane dude, no reason to fear em.

The south of england is not full of the greatest people on the face of the planet, that would be an exageration , but at least they are not inbred.

The north is cold
Good food, great comedy, nice way of life. What not to like about England?
Go to Greggs, it's great. Also, watch out for chavs.
I love Greggs, I go there every week.
Greggs used to be awesome. 30p or 4 for £1 on the sausage rolls. That was only 4 years ago :smithicide:
I've battered chocolate raisins at a chippy before.
Put on your best cowboy suit, use your best texan accent, and talk to everyone like you're a cowboy, I did it and I got a lot of laughs and made a few friends
Scotland being just North is enough reason to move to England. :scotland:
But take one of these:
I'm moving to england from the United States, now now, I love the U.S.A and am proud to be an American, but I'm sick of the government and the oil spill and all that shit. Does anyone have some benefits to moving to the U.K? [besides Facepunch Camp-Out 2011]
the oil spill was BP lol British Petrol
the oil spill was BP lol British Petrol
And what do you get if you reverse BP? PB - President Bush! It's all America's fault.
If you're planning to still go to school (you might be 16 by the time you get there), it might be important to fit in with most of the folk there, therefore it is important to respond to almost everything with: 1) Aaay dick'ead, wtfok, focken 'nock ye aat! 2) Squarin' up like eh? focken dickead i'll burst yeh. 3) Wot ye look at ye twat, piss off ye cunt. Best thing about England is our awesome Ale and all of Yorkshire
Scotland is a place of extremes - its either really nice or really shit. There aren't any "average" areas in Scotland, its expensive as fuck, or cheap and you get a free glassing along with your flat. The North has shit weather, but some of the best scenery in England, but stay away from the cities. The Midlands are average. Middle. Normal. Boring :v: The South has a nice mix of big cities and nice country side, but it's also flat and oppressive, and you get a lot of nobs around here. There is no "perfect area to live" in the UK, and certainly not England.
Bright side: free healthcare Downside: accents
Well I am from NY and am now studing in the UK for my masters. Its pretty good, but more expsenive and harder to find a job. My cousin who moved here about 3 years ago is currently in an working internship with the NHS, but its a struggle. Have your funds in order and expect some delay btw jobs.
-Damn right you don't our scenery is amazing
scotland does have some awesome scenery... well, mountains and forest, but that's about it, and aside from the main cities (glasgow, edinburgh, aberdeen, dundee etc.) there's not really anywhere that's in a good geographical location for anything else. i'm currently living in oban and whilst it's a lovely little town, my closest major transport hub is glasgow, which is 3 hours away, and there is next to nothing to do here. england may lack in mountains, but we have some great hills, plenty of forest, rolling plains, oh... and coastline! as well as a shedload more historical places and all that malarky.
The North is full of dispicable tosspots who think they are better than everyone else.
exactly this. the further north you go, the more hatred there is towards those from the south, and as far as i can work out... there's no justification for it. and don't even get me started on the scots hate for the english. it almost upsets me because i don't understand why people are so horrible just because i'm from a few hundred miles away, it's stupid. [editline]06:35PM[/editline]
The South has a nice mix of big cities and nice country side, but it's also flat and oppressive, and you get a lot of nobs around here.
see, now what is that based on?
Has no one mentioned yet that your really less likely to get shot? Guns are kinda hard to get here. But chavs. They will stab you instead
From past experience, most chavs don't know which end of the knife is the pointy one. Once a group of friends and I were attacked by a single chav. He didn't realize that we all played rugby, and that the team captain was behind him, about to snap his neck open. :v:
And! To even study here with a student visa, I had to have my full tution and 6 months living funds, about 5400GBP. International student fees are 3-4 times higher then home students and some schools here are not part of the federal student funding program in the USA, in other words you will have to take out a private loan to go to some of the schools here. I had one hell of a fight with Sallie Mae to get here lol. But I have learnd alot and there is condensed sense of excitement here that I admiire. SO choose wisely and plan as best you can. ^^
Also we still have venomous snakes but you'll never meet one, but here in scotland there's a metric fuck ton of red deer.
Deer fucking rifle through my garbage every night. It's annoying. Same goes with fucking hedgehogs. It's fun to play with the hedgehogs. My friend caught a wild one and he's trying to keep it as a pet. It doesn't seem to mind too much.
I moved to England from the US as well, and I've never regretted it. Life is much better here.
