Hype level: Meh/10.
Maybe it was because of Torgue's voice, but that "trailer" was pretty off-putting.
Not only that but some of the info given just screams Burch is trying to tell us how much he improved.
Anthony Burch literally only wrote Nisha and Jack for this game. All the other writing was by the guys at 2K Aus.
And he probably wrote that trailer, too.
that was way too long, feels like they showed every new thing or change, maybe they don't want players to experience finding anything new and cool from the game?
instead of buying at release like i did with the first 2 games i think am just gonna wait for the inevitable goty edition that costs half the price and comes with all the dlc.
The damage curve was all kinds of fucked up compared to Borderlands 1, a lot of weapons were basically useless.

A lot of the abilities on some characters were superfluous and pointless, and didn't really change up gameplay, whereas others were op as fuck. Zero and Axton, for example, was competely useless compared to the other starting characters (although Axton becomes usefull endgame), which were in turn outclassed by the DLC characters which became the most OP motherfuckers known to man. Despite this, combat was samey with very little need for anything resembling tactics, boss fights were grindathons, the game's humor fell flat constantly and any semblance of tone or atmosphere was crushed under a barrage of "OMG SO RANDOM" humor, far moreso than borderlands 1 which managed a good balance of dark comedy and tone, whereas BL2 was just full on "OMG SO RANDOM" constantly to the point of being utterly fatiguing.
Endgame was weak as fuck, as you hit higher levels, the difference between enemies became a matter of "Hey, is he a higher level than you? If so, you can't kill him" because of the quadratic levelling going on, an issue which BL1 didn't really have, and the game was just so fucking boring. The core gameplay is identical from the first hour of the game to the final one, it's just straight forward shooting, but not in the way that Painkiller, Quake 1 or, fuck, even Bulletstorm managed.
Whereas those games had setpiece moments or weapons, borderlands has the most static environments i've seen in a game of its type. It felt like an mmo shooter with 4 players instead of hundreds, and the lack of variation in quests really sold it to me. All in all, boring weapons, boring characters, boring gameplay.
They put so much shit into the game and got it to come out tasting of nothing.
Sorry what? Axton's turret is more survivable than people let on, Zero's melee builds are outrageously powerful and you never mention Salvador who could solo bosses without even trying. Maya was underpowered, Gaige was ok, and Krieg I feel like could've been great but that constant friendly fire always on with end-game gear made him unappreciated.
1. Zero is nowhere near useless, especially at endgame. He has a slow start until Execute but not useless.
2. How in the world can you say that Gaige and Krieg are the most OP classes, when Salvador exists? He is literally more powerful than everyone else combined.
Personally I find Psycho slightly OP
As level 37 psycho I find my melee damage about as high as my rocket launcher.
If that's not OP I don't know what is.
Plus whenever I'm low on health I can get into badass rampage mode where I deal even more melee damage and heal up pretty fast
hell motherfucking yes
Why does everyone hate Claptrap?
He's an annoying shitdick tryhard character that gets old superfast.
I wonder if they'll make any effort to explain how the characters in this become such chumps when they become bosses in BL2.
jesus i never noticed the facepunch was so cynical about BL
I always found it to be a good shootsy game where you really didn't have to care
same with tourge he is annoying but thats his shtick, hes annoying and loud but usually right.
God fucking damn it Hammerlock and damn you Tourge! I was full set on pre ordering the new Civ Meier game since I felt your new Borderlands game wouldn't impress me as much as Beyond Earth, BUT ONCE AGAIN, as always those two great characters convinced me. Now once again I gotta choose between the two.
wow that was trying a bit hard
Yeah. The "THE ABYSS GAZES ALSO INTO YOU" part made me laugh though.
Misha is cute and doesn't give a tenth of a fuck?
sold.
Too... Much... EPICNESS!!!

is this a parody of a post
Is this the intro the actual game? Or is it just a long trailer? I want everything to be a suprise.

long info trailer
Will probably at least be better than Destiny.
My main hope is for 2 things:
Physics be less glitchy, since I lost a good number of legendaries and pearls from them dropping through the world and become lost forever.
Raid bosses not rely on novas and 100% unavoidable attacks for "challenge". This kind of shit made bosses like Voracidous and Hyperius piles of shit because you'd just constantly fall from something you cant even see.
It does look promising though, I'll be playing it with a few bros day one.

Don't worry that'll be fixed. However, Butt Slam will now be mandatory for killing bosses. :v:
I would preorder it right now if most of my friends weren't waiting for the GOTY edition, saw some gameplay and it looks pretty fun.
I'm still deleting claptrap's voice files.
I'm still deleting claptrap's voice files.
If Tiny Tina had voice files, I'd put them in a thumb drive and submerge it in holy water.
If Tiny Tina had voice files, I'd put them in a thumb drive and submerge it in holy water.
She does
The game is narrated by Athena, and on the second playthrough Tina comes in and has her tell it again "but make it sound harder". So Tina probably has some lines during the second playthrough because it's Tina.
too much screaming
I feel weird for never noticing any of those issues and enjoying the game more than Borderlands 1.
BL2's gameplay felt more varied than BL1's, but BL1's atmosphere was miles better than BL2, feeling almost like different universes.
BL1: Yeah, Pandora sucks, and a rakk ate my brother... Good thing he was a douche.
BL2: WOW, ISN'T PANDORA JUST TERRIBLE?! AHA, MAN, THOSE BULLYMONGS SUUURE ARE TROUBLESOME. LOOK! ONE IS PUNCHING ME IN THE HEAD, RIGHT NOW! OW! OW! OW! OW!
Claptrap was is also a huge example of this.
BL1: A cute, lovable, yet foolish robot that was always picked on, but was still quite friendly. Aw, those bandits shot him! Poor thing.
BL2: HEY, GUYS, REMEMBER? EVERYONE HATES CLAPTRAP! LOOK HOW DEPRESSED AND MISERABLE HE IS! AND WOW, ISN'T HE JUST SO ANNOYING? HIS PATHETICNESS IS SO HUMOUROUS, RIGHT?!
To be honest...Borderlands 1 was just more memorable.
I look back at 2 and stare and each time I start up a game I go, "wait shit, which way is...uhhh...fuck."
In Borderlands, I don't even need the fucking map.
Doesn't help that in both cases, I usually get bored half way through because the gameplay doesn't change and the story's just...eauch...bleuch...
I don't know why anyone likes this game. Hell even Skyrim has more imaginative content.
I bought Borderlands 2 (first BL game) in Summer of 2013 and playing the game felt like a chore. The world isn't very open, the dialogue is nothing but toilet humor (unimaginative), the skill trees are barely considered skill trees (nothing but damage increases) and lack new skills that make your very own character feel unique, quests are boring and MMO-esque (Go here kill/fetch this. Skyrim's quests have had more work put into them), and the entire premise that this series is based off is bogus.
That premise being weapons. Borderlands claims to have many unique and interesting weapons, but in truth there are only about 10 weapon models used for a variety of guns with different stats. This is very misleading and makes games that lack weapons such as Fallout 3 seem more enticing.
I really don't understand why this game is remotely popular. I honestly hope Randy Pitchford's Gearbox becomes defunct.

i agree. the missions have no effort and feel very repetetive. its all the same thing in the same boring zones with the same mindless bad ai. nothing feels like a new mission because you just do the same shit. and then the gameplay is so bad the same typical bullet sponge slow paced iron sight bull shit thats in every game
but no reasoning will work. these people have shit tastes and cant help but like the game. why even get mad there is no point to it. dont get mad when your infant shits the diaper or when the an old dog pisses the house. these stupid mindwashed degenerates just enjoy what the masses enjoy. im glad you guys play these games while i can play the real games and not have to be worried about retards runinng my experience online
