Before BL2 came out: MAN BL1'S ENVIRONMENTS ARE SO BLAND AND BORING IT SUCKS
When BL2 came out: WOW THESE ENVIRONMENTS ARE A LOT LESS BORING THAN BL1'S
When hating BL2 became cool: MAN BL1'S ENVIRONMENTS WERE SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING
It takes time for a game as big as BL2 to amass proper critique because it takes time for people to let the game soak in and think about the 20+ hours they just poured into it. So the whole "it became cool to hate BL2" isn't really relevant.
This being said, borderlands 1's environments were cool and all but they heavily lacked variety, not to mention you'd just power through them past the first three zones. Borderlands 2 had more varied environments but the story and atmosphere just doesn't follow at all - and they became so big towards the end it turned into a fucking chore to drive through them. At least BL1 despite being way too visually uniform had a very consistent atmosphere and tone as well.
As much as I hate Claptrap, his ability looks awesome.
I can see the hate for Claptrap, but, personally, I love the guy. I feel genuine empathy for him, and Hell, it's pretty cliche, but I can kind of relate to his dreadfulness at times. Perhaps, if we take a step back, we'll see a little bit of his dreadfulness within us. There truly is a Claptrap to be found in all of us. [SP]There is one inside me, it torments me. I'm going to put on some surgical gloves and gouge the fucker out with a butter knife. I don't care what happens.[/SP]
