I have confidence in the new Star Wars film. JJ Abrams has already made two really good Star Wars films, I don't see why his third would be any different.
That's what concerns me. Abrams made 2 bad Star Trek films, the last one being so up it's ass with pandering to the old films by referencing The Wrath of Khan throughout that it was a mess. It's gonna be hard to take him seriously for Star Wars after those two disasters.

(i mean assuming episode seven is good)
I'm glad I didn't suffer this shit. I was too young when the Phantom Menace came out to see it, and I was still very young when the Clone Wars came out. I was old enough to watch Revenge of the Sith in the theater though. However, my parents are awesome and they knew how shit the new movies were, so they had me watch the originals first when I was little.

So basically you have looks and that is it. I am concerned with character motivations since Darth iRevan is apparently "I will finish what you started." motive is abit vague seeing how Darth Vader never had a overarching goal ever explained, and JJ has dropped the ball pretty hard on important character cameos in the past such as Leonard Nimoy. But hey, maybe without that shitty Roberto Orci writer on staff this time (Genius behind Cowboys vs Aliens, The Island, and Amazing Spider man two) , JJ might be able to surprise me.

JJ Abrams has also talked about how he's more familiar with Star Wars than he is with Star Trek, so there's that.
oh yeah very much so, i was more talking about why he fits as a director than a writer
Oh yeah no doubt he can direct his films in a way that will appeal to me for Star Wars. But he sadly has never directed anything I could say that would befit a classic Star Wars for plot and I think this will be the biggest chance of failure for Episode 7. The guy simply is basic on story and has surrounded himself with horrible writers in the past. My expectations is nothing offensive/disappointing like the prequels, but mediocrity of someone giving us good looking stuff with little substance.
in 2002 I got arrested for threatening to firebomb George Lucas' house on message boards. That's the effect these movies will have on you [editline]26th October 2015[/editline] I thought I got a bootleg copy of the new Star Wars movie but it was just 2 hours of George Lucas eating mayonnaise out of the jar.

I don't understand why people hate on the Star Trek movies. I liked them, and my dad who is a long time Star Trek fan liked them.
Disasters? Am I the only one who liked the new two star treks?
I loved them. But considering I have never been a fan of the older movies and series, and I have yet to actually watch them, the new movies probably appeal more to me.
As I child I enjoyed the Prequel Trilogy, but as I grew older and got exposed to the Original and then recapped onto the Prequel, you start seeing the things that it went wrong.
Same here man. Though I was exposed to the OT before I saw the PT, and I still liked it. Not so much anymore. I will watch them once and a while, but not as often as the OT. He was not a big Star Trek fan, he only liked it in passing. [editline]27th October 2015[/editline] Also, the writer of Empire Strikes Back is helping write this one.
Leigh Brackett? She's been dead since 78 Or do you mean Lawrence Kasdan
No he definitely meant Leigh, Disney resurrected her just for this
