head to the west coast, hang out for a little while, check out any sights you wanna see, then head on back
I might just do that - I've got a bunch of cash saved away for a university that I'm not going to go to.
nevermind, found an alternate
oh god apetor. Aaaanyway, apparently the Maritime Academy I attend to has a hell of a tradition and today there was an official inauguration of the academic year, we swore student's oath and stuff in front of a nice ship. It was pretty neat. Except for standing for 2 hours in a windy port, at less than 10 degrees C. Why are there hotdogs all over the ropes?
wow NPH this maddox guy you posted on FB might be the most cynical human being I've ever seen in my life.
Mbbird. Completely new to the internet, makes a observation on Maddox. [editline]5th October 2013[/editline] He made a book named "I am better than your kids." [editline]5th October 2013[/editline] http://www.iambetterthanyourkids.com/

[editline]5th October 2013[/editline] http://www.iambetterthanyourkids.com/
upon learning of who the man behind the name is, i'm fairly certain i'm glad i hadn't learned of him sooner
I've never heard of him before, to be honest people giving him more attention and sharing news of how terrible he is is just getting him more attention which chances are exactly what he wants by the looks of his website.
Surrealist humor escapes Mbbird
That website looks entirely satirical to be honest.
I've never heard of him before, to be honest people giving him more attention and sharing news of how terrible he is is just getting him more attention which chances are exactly what he wants by the looks of his website.
which is why i didn't bother linking to it in the first place. [editline]5th October 2013[/editline] you know maybe it's the whole "posting on fb with 'maddox is the best' of a page of his condemning a particular fb page" that made me think it wasn't supposed to be satirical.
Satirical and Surreal. It's not supposed to be absurdly mean.
This book is fucking hilarious. [editline]5th October 2013[/editline] With article titles like "Ben Stiller should star in every movie." , "My balls are huge." , "When is the last time a whale did anything for you?" , it's not that hard to tell it's satire.
if i had known that some of you had never heard of maddox, i'd have never posted that but i figured he was really common knowledge, seeing as he's been huge since before i was born
So now my university isn't allowing us to torrent on their network because it was slowing it down and they're assuming that everything you torrent is illegal. So even if someone was to torrent freeware or open source software they would get their internet shut off.
Representing the hood. Give me a few more months to rebuild my bumper sticker collection. [t]https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/1381515_10200695740743674_2101096360_n.jpg[/t]

god damnit all i want to fucking do is watch this stupid fucking movie but my family is PERFECTLY staggering their time at the house so that there's always 1 loud ass shit in the house at all times, making it pretty much impossible to enjoy a movie.
I saw Gravity today. While the butchering of physics in an otherwise pretty realistic movie really irks me, this might be a good time to publish my board game based around low-orbit spaceship combat.
I saw Gravity today. While the butchering of physics
damn, I was wanting to see that movie for its ~supa realizm~ how'd it butcher physics though?
I thought the physics were pretty good aside from a few parts
damn, I was wanting to see that movie for its ~supa realizm~ how'd it butcher physics though?
Let me rephrase that, it has a few things that to someone interested and knowledgeable about space stuff really stand out, but otherwise it's a pretty 'hard' sci-fi film. The big offenders are totally wrong orbital physics, and to a lesser degree wrong Newtonian physics. Basically, the film puts the ISS and Hubble pretty close in orbit (very wrong), uses a really impossibly contrived scenario (satellite debris forming dense clouds that just so happen to perfectly intercept the orbit of the space shuttle/ISS, rather than be going hundreds of kilometers per second thousands of kilometers away from even potentially hitting anything in the great big nothing that is low orbit, and going slow enough to be visible rather than blowing completely through visual range in a heartbeat), and people maneuvering between ships and stations as if they were in a static frame of reference when in reality orbital mechanics is really weird (example: if you thrust towards another ship in the same orbit as you in real life, you'll also either increase or decrease altitude depending on whether you're increasing or decreasing your orbital velocity with the maneuver). The Newtonian physics beef I have with the film basically can't be explained without massive spoilers so I'll leave that aside. It's one scene that just had me shaking my head because the problem shouldn't be a problem in the first place, and even if it were there's an obvious solution. I still recommend watching the movie, because it was otherwise great. Like I said I only know this stuff because I wrote a board game about orbital mechanics, it's not stuff 99.9% of people will notice or care about. I've just been waiting for another film since 2001: A Space Odyssey to get it 'right', and this still isn't it.
So I looked it up Science to the rescue!!1 [editline]5th October 2013[/editline] Aw ninja'd but it touches on some of what catbarf said in a little more in depth and a couple more other things [editline]5th October 2013[/editline] Speaking of SPEHSS FISICS, I intend to watch Planetes soon Basically an animoo about realism SPEHSS FISICS if anyone cares, but zero-g, vacuum, and other shit fascinate the living fuck out of me
Planetes is on my to-watch list, I've heard nothing but praise for it.
Ye, not sure about amurika but Japan internet peeps rank it high alongside goast in the shell, cowboye beebope, etc
planetes is on netflix. i've never watched anime before i won't be doing any mass-genre judging, but i'm totally gonna dive into this. i REALLY want to see Gravity and Europa Report aaaaa.
Planetes first half is small stories that get resolved by the end of the episode Last half is one big storyline (from what I've read) I saw maybe up until episode 6 or so and thought, "huh, I guess it's ok", but apparently most people praise the latter half of the show
Check engine light came on in my truck. Code is for an O2 sensor. I hate that code, I drove my old Taco for two years with the check engine light on because those O2 sensors burn out faster than a Thai hooker and I stopped fucking with them after awhile. Only time it mattered was when inspection was coming up because you need them to pass in NY and CA (the only two to my knowledge) At least I still have a warranty from the Dealer so Monday I'll figure out when to get it fixed and bring it back. He has a stockpile the the sensors. The back drive side door doesn't lock either, so maybe he can look at that. The guy I bought it from is pretty cool. Russian guy who ONLY deals in Toyota trucks and cars. Bought my previous Taco for $1000 which to be fair was more than we expected, we were going to let it rot in my Father's yard. It's on Netflix? I JUST watched it. If you don't watch Anime at all, I literally cannot think of a better one than Planetes to start with. No weaboo shit, period. The right blend of comedy, serious shit and animation, a little love plot thrown in there and a couple of storylines to follow. Very, very good series. Relatively realistic too. Okay, maybe Cowboy Bebop would be a good one too but most people have seen that already. Planetes is excellent.
