So yahoo mail went from simple text based, easy to read, fast to load to TERRIBLE AND CHEAP around last June and it's only been getting worse. Don't have Firefox or Internet Explorer? It's going to bug you about it every single fucking time you log in. Use "enter" to search for things in the search bar? Oh yeah lets just refresh the page instead. Want to open an email in a tab, or use forward/back mouse gestures to cycle back and forth like you can with any other website in existence? Not anymore you don't! Oh and lets implement an infinite scroll system because those are great for people with 500 unread emails right? Oh it's also 5x slower because it's weighed down by a massive wallpaper image, useless scripts, some kind of chat, and a bunch of flash bits here and there. Oh and now I straight up can't access it from Opera because it literally won't let me in without upgrading my browser. Might a well throw in a little shoutout to colleges for being professionally run spam services. [editline]6th December 2013[/editline] What's a good alternative to Yahoo that isn't gmail or hotmail?
mail.ru for the bold

Just got back from picking up my new skis from the ski shop, was getting bindings mounted oh my releasable bindings are the best things ever. They have brakes that pop down, they come off easy, and they won't break your ankles! Which is important because the bindings on my snowblades are permanent so it was really easy to hurt your ankle in a fall since they do't pop off easy. Actually, snowblades cause more borked bones and ankles than skis or snowboards :v:
I tried making cookies for once but when I was taking my hand out from putting in the cookie sheet my hand got burnt on the handle of a pan someone left inside. :c ARE YOU CALLING ME FAT, OVEN???? [editline].[/editline] Damn, the burnt hand was worth it because these taste GOOOOOOD. Recipe: http://www.howto-simplify.com/2013/03/soft-and-chewy-chocolate-chip-cookies.html

One time I was going WAYYY too fucking fast, hit a particularly deep bit of powder that I didn't notice, and did a literal sommersault and landed back on my skiblades.
I finally got around to watching Elysium and I have this massive urge to play Cortex Command

So in French we voted on an "arts" unit (being the only French AP, we seriously don't have a curriculum, we just fucking vote, it's the best), so as a part of that we're working with French music and have to choose a French song of any era and just dissect it a little bit. I chose Des Armes by Noir Desir (great band) and it's awesome n shit but it's essentially a poem and pretty normal. So we listen to the song before the dissection, and I haven't gotten to present yet, but today a friend of mine presented "Je t'Aime moi non Plus", and well...skip to 2:30 if you've never heard of it. he asked if we could play the entire song and the teacher said yes before knowing what it was so it was pretty much the best. he's also mega gay so it wasn't creepy. also yes this is quintessentially (read: stereotypically) French and no this is not what all French music is like.
Elysium made me want more gritty, half future sci-fi movies like ughhhhh
Did you see Dredd? Pretty awesome gritty sci-fi, I really like the direction they went with it. On the other hand, the new Total Recall sucks, don't bother with it.

It's boring IMO. It's not playing off of anything in real life that's interesting, other than "cities are gross~, technology is ripping us apart", etc. Very clearly an old scenario/setting/character (Judge Dredd) in a new, 2012 skin. I'm interested in crime movies too, but man I just don't know how to describe what I dislike about Dredd's mega-city future.

I don't even remember.
Not doing Comme les enfants by Coeur de Pirate 0/10 actually I did a project on Noir Desir too, I think. I don't even remember.
Coeur de Pirate is cool too. She was actually the first French artist I'd ever listened to back in French 1 (haha 7th grade good times- EDIT: NOT REALLY WHAT AM I SAYING), which I didn't understand a lick of but remember really, really wanting to. Compared to Yelle she's crisp as ever, although I wanted to branch a tiny bit away from the electropop and moany stuff (see above) everyone else was doing.
I miss painting Warhammer shit. Why does it have to be so ridiculously expensive?
I miss painting Warhammer shit. Why does it have to be so ridiculously expensive?
Because Games Workshop is a silver tongued devil that lures you in with fluff and high quality models and knows that you are doomed to pay whatever the hell they want. If you want cool wargaming models to paint you could look into some of the other systems (Dust has some really cool shit), but if you're set on anything owned by GW you're stuck dealing with their horrible pricing.
I liked my Tau. They were weeaboo as fuck and they were easy to paint, since they weren't grim dark I just painted them clean, bright colors and they looked nice that way. I wanted to make Gue'vesa and conscripted Space Mahreens at some point but don't have the money to play around with something so potentially cost consuming. Dust is cool but I'm bad at weathering. On the bright side though, I bought a Gundam pen so I may finally be able to finish off my 3 year old box of Fire Warriors.
Government shut down today due to weather. Woo, French toast time. Yeah I gave up on Warhammer about two years ago. It's not very good as a game, and while the models are nice they're way too expensive for what they are. Warmachine, Dust, and historicals are all much cheaper and have some great systems. I'm especially a fan of the sculpts for Warmachine, they really have a unique style.
I have a dust model still unpainted, its cool af

The fact that it is one of the only cities (hell. Nobody really knows) because the rest of the world was engulfed with nuclea war so mega city one was kind of the aftermath so to speak) You should read the comics, highly recommended there is a bunch of different ones though (all Idw) but you cannot go wrong with any of them.

Because in that world, there is almost no such thing as humanity or compassion. Not only is that unrealistic, but it's uninteresting and uselessly depressing for the same reason a sci-fi would would if it were entirely about probes and computers sans humans. The main character is a brick to top it off, and while its fun to see a brick crack a bit like Big Boss or Solid Snake, Dredd doesn't break, he just crumbles a bit. Elysium, in that sense, could not possibly be more different.
I really liked the new Dredd movie, I think it was underrated and overlooked, but I have to say the style doesn't translate well at all. I definitely see what Mbbird is saying. You've got to remember that Judge Dredd started in '77. He's a contemporary of Robocop and every 80s one-liner spewing action hero. The whole thing was supposed to be ridiculous, over-the-top satire of the real world. The problem is that newer adaptations keep trying to make it serious, keeping the grim but without the comical self-awareness that made it work. So it ends up feeling weird, because it doesn't realize it's a joke anymore.
Elysium also valued human life a hell of a lot more. That gives weight to firefights. Each one of those apartment things (like in the movie) are a city block in size and house thousands of people. In some of the comics there are block wars where they just beat the shit out of each other, but they care for their own. Same with the judges, the judges in those situations are primarily focused on each other just as each member of different blocks are looking out for their own. The setting isn't devoid of compassion, just a severe lack of compassion for people who don't share majorly common interests.
