I actually read it and took it seriously so there's hope for me yet. Although it doesn't totally apply to my situation right now as the girl I like is someone I've actually talked to before and am comfortable talking to for once, I just haven't really hung out with her outside of class that much and I don't really know how to approach the issue of wanting to spend more time with her/possibly dating her depending on how things go.
Maybe there is hope for you yet! Like I said, don't assume its going to be all sunshine and rainbows if she does say okay to hanging out. Girls are complicated, what they class as friendly guys class as a girl flirting and vice versa. you just need to play it cool and think "If this goes wrong and we don't date / just end up as friends then that's fine" you've gained a friend that is a girl and that's always a plus. When you're friendly enough, you can ask her for advice when you do find a girl you like and want to be with.
I gotta an interview for Friday. Loss Prevention at Burlington Coat Factory.
Hopefully they give me a decent offer. Asset Protection is irritating and Best Buy is a shitty employer, I can't imagine Burlington is much better but if they don't make me stand at the front door acting as a greeter for 8 hours by myself without getting breaks, use the bathroom or stop theft than it's better than this.
idk, some girl totally brought up a month ago the topic of prom (out of nowhere)and looking for a date for it and totally being willing to go with any guy.
at a table full of girls. with me being the only dude. while looking at me.
and I sit next to her this semester. We get along quite well and I think she enjoys being around me as well, but I feel its a bit weird to ask her to prom seeing as how I literally only see her in that one class and don't have her number or anything.
dude just ask, nothing to lose right?
I did it guys. I asked if she wanted to go for coffee and she said yes. We didn't decide on a time because I had another class to get to but she said yes. I know that doean't mean she's my girlfriend yet but still I'm so fucking happy right now you guys have no idea.
gw taepo!
It's a step in the right direction bro. Good luck!
All my books finally came in. Time to gain more knowledge.

Gonna give ya a couple of book recommendations. All of them EOD though because I plan on signing an EOD contract in August so I just bought a bunch of books last week and have been absorbing as much info as possible regarding the MOS.
First book I read is called "The Long Walk" by Brian Castner.
Basically retells his experience in Iraq as an Air Force EOD but keeps a main focus in the difficulties of returning to a normal life after what he saw/did.
Book is beautifully written. Don't really need a strong interest in the field to appreciate the book.
Second book is called "Duty Status Whereabouts unknown" by a former EOD Jonathon Cody.
This book is fictional but since I saw the author was an EOD there couldn't be any harm in trying it out.
Started reading it at 12:00am Sunday night and became absolutely engrossed in it. Didn't stop until I realized it was almost 4:00am. Same thing happened last night, but the only time I stopped reading to look at the time was when I finished it.
The story is about an Army EOD whose security, against explicit orders from the EOD team, left them to assist in an attack on their FOB. Unprotected the EOD team was ambushed by Iraqi soldiers and civilians.
The protagonist is then captured and sold to a local terrorist leader.
Not a dull moment in the book and ,even though it is fiction, is extremely accurate. The author brings in knowledge from his time as an EOD to illustrate the construction of all different types of IEDs. (My personal favorite is the pancake IED with a makeshift blasting cap composing of det cord, a single 7.62 round, and a mousetrap.
I still have three more books queued: "Eight Lives down", "Extreme Risk", and "Red One: a bomb disposal expert on the front line".
I believe they are all about ATOs which are British EOD technicians. (The British basically started modern day EOD back in WW2 when they trained individuals to disarm unexploded ordnance that the Germans dropped in England so hey, if they started the whole field it can't hurt to try and get some history as well as a different viewpoint on the field.)
After these I plan on buying "Proximity" a fictional book written by a Navy EOD diver.
If interested ill post up reviews of these books for you after I read em.
Tim O'brien is a great writer, definitely suggest The Things They Carried
The Things They Carried was fucking awesome, read that in my english class last year
I'm not too sure how 'realistic' these books are, but I was a big fan of Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Meyers. I heard the spiritual successor Sunrise Over Fallujah was p. good too

On a non-military topic, did you guys ever read The Rangers Apprentice?
My friend just told me they're on like book 13 now holy shit
Found this in my old-as-fuck pictures folder. Chances are I got it off the RA originally. It still makes me lol

God damn I hate my major.
For today, in my game narrative class, we were supposed to post to a discussion board about what fills us with awe. Since that's a pretty silly question, I posted the clip from Conan where he describes what's best in life.
But one of my classmates posted this.
My Ladies
Almost all of my friends are female, and each one of them is special. What makes them special you might ask?
If it were simply that they were kind and generous, volunteering their time to help those in need, that would be enough.
If it were just that they were some of the few that could see past my savage exterior and bloody reputation and appeal to a better nature I never knew I had, that would be enough.
If it were only that when they sang together they sound as a choir of angels, that would be enough.
However it is all of that and their limitless potential that has me kneel in awe before them. Their drive and passion to change this world, their commitment to doing what they love reguardless of the opinions of others, their peerless compassion for people who can't fit into this world, and their undying friendship and love for one another humbles me. They are mine to serve, and I proudly protect them. They will make this world a better place.
I hate these people.
I'm pretty late but I knew my positivity could turn people around! Herf, hope youre okay and Taep, good work!

Today I had my blood tests re-done as I'm three weeks after my surgery. Initially my Beta HCG (it's some kind of hormone that's produced during pregnancy, but also by cancerous tumors) factor was like, over 42, when it should be less than 2. Now it's 0.32. Awesome.
But then, fucking shit tends to happen too.

Getting out of there was a fucking pain.
Anybody ever heard of Kowloon Walled City? I've developed a kind of weird obsession with it over the past few days.

Kind of a shame it got demolished in 1994. Crime rates were dropping and it really seemed like an incredibly interesting place to visit/live, speaking as a journalist.

Its what Kaineng City in Guild Wars was based on. But yea, It's always really interested me because I can see a lot of cities being like that in the future.
Wasn't that one of the maps for black ops? (I know this game is crappy but w/e)
Wasn't that one of the maps for black ops? (I know this game is crappy but w/e)
It was in the campaign. And black ops was actually decent.
Yeah I think that one level was based on it or something. Just stumbled on the whole thing while doing some research and thought it was fascinating. Definitely agree with Wulf though, I can totally see a lot of cities becoming this way in the future.
That'd make an interesting future, to say the least.
