I'm doing a paper for history comparing something from two different time periods in the US. I decided on comparing the US homefront of WW2 to the US homefront of Vietnam. I'd like to keep it war related but it's the homefront after all so it's broad enough to talk about a lot of things.
I'm making a thesis now and I'm thinking of aspects of the homefront to focus on but they need to be something that I can talk a lot about on (paper has to be at least 5 pages), and something that I can find a lot of sources for. So far I've thought of doing public opinion, economy, and race but do you guys have any suggestions for ideas? The teacher said not to talk about how the new technologies of the time had an effect because it can't be analyzed as well since technology is always improving/changing.

What sort of sources are you expected to use? I'd suggest coming up with a thesis, and then several subtheses to develop your argument. For example, if you argue that the Vietnam War homefront was completely different and unprecedented compared to World War II, for the subtheses you could emphasize the differences in public opinion; how the U.S. military presented its public image in the Vietnam years compared to WWII; the differences in how the two wars affected presidential elections; etc, etc...
Hope that helps.
I am not dating or liking anyone for at least 6 months per my friend's advice :v:

Finished my little town. Still have a shitton of hexes to do before I have enough play space to field more than three or four units at a time. Three abrams to paint and a humvee as far as my units go and a shit ton of infantry.

Reminds me of the landscapes people build for model trains, that's really detailed.
What'd you use for the grass? That gave me an idea for a model I have to make for one of my other projects at school (due on Thursday :v:).
What a lovely evening with Fish and Felix yesterday. We ate copious amounts of food, pondered creating a siege engine to invade my own house with when we're old men, launched enormous high-grade fireworks, and thought of building a black powder cannon to defend against said siege engine, with one half of IFAP defending the house, and the other half attacking it.
my parents are going to disown me

was there some dramatic moment where your phone was in your shirt pocket, the shrapnel hit and you fell to the gound. all your friends thought you were dead and then you woke up and pulled out your phone?
My dad had a friend custom CNC machine a cannon barrel for this 1/5th size cannon carriage he found at a garage sale.
He works with the historical society and uses it to show people how to properly load and fire a Civil War Era cannon.
It has a 1" bore and we use it like a blunderbuss, loading anything that will fit comfortably in the barrel.
We also use it to celebrate New Year's.

Thanks that does help, the main points of my first thesis were kind of mismatched since there's so many things talk about. We're supposed to use at least 5 non-encyclopediac sources from books and online, I have quite a few WW2 books including some bg ones full of information that I can look through but I'll need to find some for Vietnam.
Guys, how to girlfriend?
I haven't ever had a girl that really responded to my flirting, have been turned down numerous times, and the only girl that I know that has had some kind of attraction to me, I did not feel the same way. It doesn't help that I don't like being social with new people.
