I've applied literally everywhere this summer. McDonalds was the only one to even call me for an interview. I think they don't want to hire me because they know I'm going to be leaving to go back to school at the end of August.
I've put in about 20 different applications, and the only response I have ever gotten back was the one from the library. Never been called for an interview.
You're not getting call backs because you're not selling yourself enough. You need to make it sound like you're the best fucking guy around. Make it seem like you could sell shitty burgers better than any other person that has applied.
For an age I was using a CV that my school helped me put together but I never got any call backs, so one day I said fuck it and wrote my own. Over sold my self and I got the job straight away, out for 45 people that applied. (Been working here for 3 years now).
Lie if you have too. If they ask what you do on weekends or what ever, say you go out and do cool shit. Tell them that you like to travel, tell them that you've got great team skills because you do team building activities (airsoft).
Hell, I could send you my CV if you want an example of bullshitting to make you sound great.
Also I have learned from experience: never tell them that you plan to go back to school in a few months. 90% of places don't hire summer staff. Just say you plan to work there indefinitely or whatever and then tell them you're quitting due to a family emergency or something when you have to go back to school.
Saying that you'll be quitting in 2-3 months for school is a surefire way to not get hired.
Who needs CVs to get jobs
plebs

Is it weird to have a crush on my first cousin if we're not actually blood-related? Because my mom was adopted so like, we're not actually related-related but we're still related. I met her for the first time last Wednesday at a family lunch (we didnt grow up together because of some complications lol) and we hit it off pretty well which surprised her dad because she's apparently really really shy and doesn't talk to people. And apparently he was impressed that we chatted it up so well (we were basically talking throughout lunch)
like seriously though this she's my year and she's super smart and on top of everything, she's in DC this week cause she made it to Nationals for History Day and so she's a history girl too and I think she's super cute (far right)

This reminds me of how when my mom and my step dad first got married, my step dad's niece who I guess is technically my cousin had a crush on me and it was really weird because I was 10 and she was like 5 or 6. Thankfully she doesn't have a crush on me anymore because that would be illegal as fuck now.
My first job as a scinist I somehow got accepted into a group of 8 trainees out of over 800 people that applied. I was fucking chuffed into space for the two years I was there. Then the site went into administration but I knew a guy who knew a guy and they hired me back on as a lab technician for another year.
After that gig ended I spent about 6 months funemployed and out of the 80+ jobs I applied for, I heard back from about 10 of them, only got invited to 4 interviews and out of those 4 I didn't get two but got the other two.
And here I am now as an operations manager for a large facility that develops and researches composite metals.
When I was funemployed one of the job advisors told me that about 70% of jobs (In the UK at least) were actually gotten by word of mouth and connections alone. I instantly thought that statistic to be bullshit. But I found out about my current job through a friend who worked there, my previous job through a guy I knew and my first job I too oversold 16 year old me as the friendliest science nerd in the world and got the gig.
You just need to go ahead and get your foot in the door wherever you can and try and build up a group of friends who'd be more in the know with local work.

Willing to bet that here in italy the rate's even higher

Literally the whole reason I'm at the college I am now is because of their connections to the industry
I went through college and it hasn't gotten me jack diddly shit bar the apprenticeship that was a part of it, I hate to be the cliche edgy fucker here but I've got countless friends in university who are in severe debt leading shitty lives just trying to get a masters degree in something generic like business economics or english literature and there's an extremely high chance they're not even guaranteed a job at the end of it all.
In this job environment it is abysmal how students are going through all of this for nothing at times and how seemingly impossible it can be to get a job at times. It's why more and more are just packing their bags in and living off benefits while spending all year playing video games and going on about how their youtube channel/handbag accessories/unsustainable hobby is going to be their main source of income for the next 50 years.
I have a really easy time getting jobs. I had like, three jobs and interviews setup for me when I got my current job.
I just apply to LP positions and I have enough experience and I'm a decent enough person to usually nail it. And that's me being picky, I could probably get just as lucky if I went around applying to entry level retail positions.

This is why I'm planning on being done with education when I get my bachelors degree. I'm not going to push myself even further into debt trying to get a masters degree that's not going to help me get a job any better. I know people who are planning to get masters degrees in history though and I feel incredibly sorry for them. One of them even knows there's pretty much no point unless she decides to go all the way and get a PhD but she's not entirely sure if that's what she wants to do with her life. And I have no idea what I'm going to do when I finish university either because I don't know anyone who can help me find a job. I mean my step dad probably could but I've already said a million times I don't want to work for the oil companies because that forces me to be stuck in Canada's equivalent of the southern United States.
A work is a work, eh? Also, the oil business is a rich business

Unless it's "American" oil, which means you're going to war in Afghanistan or something
I sell pen and pen accessories for Staples.
But really, i'm shooting for Cisco Certification, A+, etc etc.
Right now I have entry level Telecommunications, Copper Cabling implementation and Fiber Optics certifications with a side of very minor Cisco course completion certificates and some Intel certifications.
I'm not too sure if the little Cisco ones hold any weight because they're course completion certifications but they do say that i'm certified to work on small and medium sized home and business networks.
oh and a certification that says I know how to use Snap-On Multimeters :v:

The problem is that, at least in the US, most companies won't even look at you if you don't have a degree

Its a little weird, but with the lack of any actual blood connecting you guys you're pretty much good to go as long as your family can tolerate it. Shit, my Grandparents found out they were like second cousins sometime after they married because lol West Virginia.
Also, DC you say? Sounds like I should do some investigating :v:

Most of these aren't well paid in America, or only pay well if you have a degree.

she is confirmed for cute and i mean, it might be a little weird but theres no blood relation so... its just a matter of if she feels the same way.
Sold off my M&P 15-22 today, fought off the urge to buy another G&P AEG and had my dad order a Hi Point 995TS Carbine through his FFL guy.
Pretty excited to have a new firearm, as the M&P was the last one I purchased and that was 2 years ago.
I'm not interested in any girls hitting on me.
Yep.
I want the V
just not from those ladies.

That's how my life was for like 3 years so I get where you're coming from. On a related note, stupid girls are the devil.
One's a sloot
One's my ex
One's trying to make me stop being friends with my best friends.
I should be thankful that I was a walking vagina repellent for so long, and still kind of am. Because that means I don't get crazy girls hitting on me.
I got a new map

THE POLICE TURNED UP AT WORK TODAY.
Some of the production line workers were trying to stage a Proletarian revolution despite only having been here a week and were swearing at their professional and genetically superior brethren and getting all uppity about some trivial things then two of the really burly neanderthals started swearing like no tommorow at the foreman while screaming over him whenever he tried to talk and then refused to leave so needless to say the police were called and the ruffians escorted from the premises, damned fucking peasants.
To pour salt in the wound I personally approved and filed their HR paper on friday and now I had to shred it all and write up their severance contracts. Followed by the fact I'll have create a god damn incident report.
ive decided i dont like helping to manage a factory theres a real possibility one of the working class could shank me
