I really want to save a bunch of money, buy a plane ticket to england (usually ~$950) and backpack my way solo across Europe. just up and go, only thing holding me back from doing it now is finances... and the whole college my parents paid for thing :v:
Something like this is on my to do list in life, except with a motorcycle to cover distance and carry extra gear. Either America or Europe, or both. My high school German teacher told me about when he went around Europe on a moped, staying at youth hostels and going to museums all over the place when he went to college. That and countless other stories and videos have ingrained a road trip like that in my brain as something I need to do someday.

It's an adventure I'm very intrigued by. I'd like to say "I don't want to do it given Africa's current state" but Africa is literally always a shithole so I don't think any time is better than another. Granted all that sounds extremely dangerous, but it'd be a hell of an adventure. EDIT: Well, with things in Ferguson finally calming down, a cop shot a black teen in St. Louis today. The kid opened fire on the cop with a handgun and the cop returned fire and killed him. But of course since Ferguson just happened the protests are filling the streets. Goddammit Missouri can we have one month without a fucking race war?
I always thought it should be less about the race and more about cops shooting people, finding if it was justified or not. No one can ever approach the race issue with a clear and unbiased mind in the media, so nothing gets done
They don't really have a reason to riot this time. Guy shot at the cop who was chasing him and the cop shot him. That's not racism, that happens all the time. But I'm almost willing to bet that people reporting it were just like "BLACK TEEN SHOT!!!!!" without knowing the whole story.
I have an iphone and I've dropped it tons of times, down stairs and everything, and it's in perfect condition
I've got a 4S and it's built like a fucking tank.

I have no clue what happened in Ferguson and I refuse to have an opinion on it until more clear evidence of what happened comes out. As for this, though, I don't think it matters whether the guy was white, black, latin, asian, or otherwise, if he opened fire on a cop (be that cop any of the aforementioned races), then it's perfectly acceptable for the cop to return fire. I would expect the cop to shoot back if he were black too - it's not right to just expect a cop to lay down and not shoot back because the suspect is of a different race. Of course, you're perfectly right - news outlets are going to jump on this shit like white on rice. Any hint of a chance to sensationalize a news event is going to get taken. In light of that, journalism really needs to get it's shit together. While, surprisingly, studies have shown that there's no significant trend of partisan bias in broadcast or print news, there is sure as hell a bias toward negative news and toward incredibly assertive journalism. We've pretty much abandoned the whole "truth and facts" thing in exchange for a 24-hour cycle of taking an ongoing event and broadcasting things we think might happen.
I'm buying my own place in Dallas soon, so I'll be closer to our local fields if Ebola doesn't get me first. Wish me luck, and anyone know if the kwa mac 10 is still any good. That was on my buy list for two of them.
I love how the headlines for this St. Louis shooting are all along the lines of "black kid fatally shot to death by cop", instead of "guy shot at cop, so he got shot by cop"
Boned once more by the long edick of the law Will I never into bakelite AKM mag?

So I have to disguise a camera at work. Any suggestions on how I can hide it?
in your butt
So I have to disguise a camera at work. Any suggestions on how I can hide it?
How big is it? Will it be on your person, or in the store?
It's a game camera. About the size of a modest cigar box. [t]http://i.gyazo.com/dab78f95f087cbba762b38797d5b4861.png[/t] Going to hide it in a storage closet where someone (I know who it is) is stealing and I want photographic evidence. I got approved to do it, I just need to do it in a really not-obvious way. I tried to put a hole in a cardboard box but the hole is too big and it's sorta of attention drawing.
Put a sweatshirt or towel or something over it. The try to fold part of whatever you use over the top to create a hood type thing. The shadow from that will loo natural and hide the lens.
Probably going to end up doing that. It's in the Layaway room so I'll probably make a fake Layaway in a clear plastic bag and drape random towels and stuff over it than put it on the top shelf with a fake layaway tag: Bitchwhistle, Dick 10/09/14 LP304550
I bet your boss is fucking pumped to have someone as into the job as you lol.
Everyone at works thinks I'm super serious at my job. I'm glad they think that even though it's not true. It usually depends on the day. Also in general I just get really pissed watching people doing the wrong thing, especially when it's something as morally black and white as stealing. This particular guy is a dirt bag though. Our GM doesn't care about his job and just hired him without looking at the application. He lied on his application and his backround check came back with a felony so he SHOULDN'T have been hired but he was hired anyway. Three years strong armed robbery and some drug charges. He's super fucking shady, steals and brags about it and I've got at least three women so far that claim he's sexually harassing them, which I don't doubt because I've seen it. His entire family was hired for some reason. Him, his Sister (who does shady shit on the register), his babies mama and her Sister work in receiving and their cousin works a register too. And they're all shitty, shady people. They're all shit at their jobs too. I work in a really trashy store in a relatively shitty part of town.

evike sells nerf guns now :v:
I'm supposed to be studying but instead I found myself watching videos of Spetsnaz operators operating operationally.
Almost have the MR2 running, it cranks when I turn the key now instead of me having to jump the starter. Have to investigate the ignition timing still. Definitely have spark to the plugs, But I haven't checked the plugs themselves yet. If i'm lucky and find the problem tomorrow, It will be running this weekend.
I'm supposed to be studying but instead I found myself watching videos of Spetsnaz operators operating operationally.
I played Kerbal Space Program, watched some more LoTR, read my physics homework graders super passive-aggressive admonishments, and did everything except my math homework. And we're going to a seattle sounders game tomorrow (best US soccer team, also said to have best atmosphere) so I'll have zero time. Late night mode go! Also my hw grader is so asinine its great
Some of your students clearly have disgraphia or something similar, but at least heir names and final answers shold be penned more carefully. Staples are wonderful. I nearly lost 20 points for a student because their loose leafs got caught in another students loose leafs
and
A lot of students are using the wonderful "know the answer and write it down" technique for these questions. Unfortunately they know the wrong answer
[editline]10th October 2014[/editline] also im applying for a job at my uni's wind tunnel testing facility (gotta sign a strict NDA and everything apparently) and since its an educational campus they are an independent entity and seattles $15/hr minimum doesn't apply, I get $11/hr if I'm hired. Which is above minimum wage, but still :v: I'd work for free there though, just don't tell them that. They don't need MORE undergrad slave labor
I have two midterms tomorrow and I've already spent most of the day reading about the Russian Revolution and the first 20 years or so of the Soviet Union so I really can't bring myself to read about urbanization in developing countries, especially when I open the textbook and realize everything is more or less common sense if you've taken any other geography class. Like, I've literally been introduced to almost no new concepts in this class so far, it's all just applying concepts I mostly already know to explaining how urbanization works in developing countries. [editline]9th October 2014[/editline] Also I usually find geography classes really easy which is why I tend to take them as electives and might even see if I can make human geography my minor.
