If we're discussing fashion again, I usually wear cargo or flat front shorts in white or khaki and a regular t-shirt or polo with low-cut hikers during the summer. It's a little dorky or whatever but I don't really give a shit and I value the utility more than looking ~cool~. In the winter I usually wear a thermal and a henley shirt or flannel under a zip-up hoodie or coat along with khaki work pants and high top hikers. Utility is always better than trendiness in my opinion.
Same on the shorts and t-shirt/polo, I usually wear skate shoes along with it. When it's colder I start wearing khakis/cargo, work pants, flannel lined pants, flannel shirt, t-shirt, thermal waffle, fleece, etc... I probably look pretty blue collar, but like you, I look for utility over looks. I want the shit I'm buying to last. I only like khaki + fleece if I feel like dressing nicer because I can get them cheaply and it's comfortable. I've never worn a dress shirt with a tie. Even at my HS graduation when I saw everyone wearing dress pants, dress shirt, and tie, I just threw on khakis, polo, and the same skate shoes I wore all year. I'm also back again to promote wearing a M65 with a sweatshirt under it. Just last weekend I wore it for nearly 24 hours when I was staying at a friend's house, only taking it off to go in a jacuzzi at a motel his dad works at :v: I even slept in it, it's too damn comfortable. My friends were only wearing sweatshirts when we were walking around at night and said it's too cold, and I'm just enjoying the night in my cozy ass layers. Comfort of a sweatshirt with the added warmth and protection of an M65. Wear a t-shirt/flannel/thermal base layer depending on how cold it is. I wore mine all last year for a normal New England winter. It'll keep you warm and safe during the next nor'easter. If a military jacket isn't your thing but you still want durability, go Berne Apparel or Carhartt. [editline].[/editline] Also I saw Judas Priest last night. Place was nearly half empty but they kicked ass anyways so it was a great show.
Carhartt walmart tier awesomeness.

My urban camo cargo pants and vest save a lot of headaches when I'm out in the wind, and sometimes rain, shooting footage for clients. With so many pockets for lens caps, wires, adapters and other crap I have to carry around, it's better dorky, but organized than "cool" and with a bunch of crap in my hands.
you don't wear pants?
If my jean history is anything to go by, a pair of lucky's and 3 of levi's should last me for like 6 years. probably isn't though because it was only like a month ago that i discovered that clothes shopping is fun.
Canadian field jackets are the best rain jackets ever. They dry incredibly fast and don't let any rain water through.
my neighbor got his unimog reposessed that thing was awesome i'm gonna miss it
